Played one game. Not bad. I think I will like it more than 13. Only issue right now is when I try for my returning player reward for hut I get kicked offline. Is this happening to anyone else?

Yup. That's definitely not working right now. Not sure what's going on there, but it kicked me all three times I tried it.

I was also surprised I was finally able to get the HUT name NashVegas this year. I've had that name in Madden Ultimate Team for 3 years (Madden saves your name from previous years though), but was always told it was in use when I tried it in HUT. I didn't expect much when I tried it this year, but it finally worked. As dumb as it sounds, that could actually cause me to play HUT more too, lol.

In 13 I couldn't think of a name. I wanted it to have something to do with the team logo and jersey. Thought of one a few months ago and wanted to use it only to find out everything would be deleted that I had in 13. I was able to use River Notes only to find out nothing for the river men is in the game. Shouldn't be surprised as the team was sold.

Well it helps that I did it at noon today, so I'd imagine there weren't too many HUT teams yet.

NHL 14 Jersey code is the one they release during the season that has each team's new third jersey. So you'll be able to use that awesome new Buffalo uniform later this year!

One of the things I saw several times that I'm a fan of is the way AI players jump out of the way/over their teammates' shots.

All teams are getting a new third or just some? I heard Buffalo got one but didn't think anyone else was or did.

Lost one fight so far since Friday....you can still punch like crazy. So now Rob and I get two packs a week and a discount for hut. I like.

I'm really liking HUT more than last year already... Which for me is saying a lot since I had over 300 games played last year.

A few things that are really nice:
-You get more pucks per game
-They increased the cap for Goals For pucks by 50
-They now give you double the pucks for the number of hits (I believe last year you just got however many pucks you had hits)
-The tiered packs are very nice and you get a lot more bang for the puck this time around (600 pucks in previous years only netted you 6 cards, and now it nets you 12)
-You seem to get at least one jersey in every pack, although I think every pack I bought with pucks has had 3 players, 3 jerseys, 3 contracts, and 3 training (I already was able to resell one jersey for 800 pucks)

My one biggest complaint is how many damn pucks I'm losing per game thanks to getting a hit and then fighting... But I expected this from the moment they introduced the fighting and how it worked.

I'm also having trouble with the HUT Pre-order codes. The 24 pack one downloaded fine, but then no pack showed up under my packs. The Winter Classic code went through and then I got a message saying content not available.

Also the returning player error apparently is result of the cap for retrieving the info being too low. I had it go.thvough twice, but the pucks never deposited. I'll end up with just under 50k.k.

I had the same problem. Input the codes again and it should work.

Forgot to post this pic from a game Gary and I played.

The AI knocked our AI player down and then fell over him while he was on his knee. It was pretty damn funny.

It's odd how I thought I would spend more time in HUT in 14 like I did with 13, but I'm playing season mode. I lose about 10-15 pucks a game from that just because of the fighting. I have at least one fight a period it seems like. At first they were fun, but now they are getting old.

The Winter Classic pack I'm getting wont be out till around the time of The Winter Classic, however I'm sure someone will post saying they got it and that I'm wrong. It is just a guess.

I was finally able to get my returning reward. Had to try at 5 a.m. central time.

For the Season Pass where do I buy it? I'm not seeing it any where in 14, could it be due to how late in 13 that I bought it?

Also what are HUT live players?

The WC pack is the two jerseys and arena. Not sure about players yet how ever. Yeah, the AI tripped the other AI, the AI went down and the other AI acted like he got hit. Was so Damn funny. One more win for Rookie 2. I'll have time to play tonight if anybody is up for some games. I do like my Bauer pre order pack. :). So if ou do change the gloves. I still Gots me some white gloves.

I will be on tonight. Not sure what time. If you see me on and want to play let me know. I will probably be playing season mode.

That worked... Thanks. Ended up getting the returning player, WC, and HUT pass this morning at 4:30 AM before work.

I ended up getting 47,xxx pucks for the returning player bonus. I had 16,xxx pucks in 13, and had sold the farm except my Wings players and free cards. I'm guessing the majority of the extra 31k pucks came from the number of games played. Now to hope for a promo pack before all those pucks burn a hole in my pocket. I did buy 1 of the top gold packs and got Cogliano who is 83 OVR.

Also, I highly recommend selling any jerseys you get asap. I listed 5 or 6 last night, and all were picked up at "Buy it now" prices ranging from 400 to 1500.

That's good to know. I think I will have to put them all up. I asked once and never saw an answer so I'll ask again. Where do I buy the season pass? I have looked in the game and can't find it anywhere.

Man...Alan, Brandon, and I played a bit more last night, and we started getting that "same old, same old" feeling. It seems the theme for EASHL this year is going to be to make your guy huge and just destroy the shit out of anything in your path. We were often getting chased down from behind, shoved in the back, and just walked all over to get the puck.

But we also could recognize that for some of those games, we were just outmatched. We ran into one guy who had his overall up to 79 already...as a forward. Several people who already had 30+ points too. The AI also seemed to play dumber as the player ratings went up. I know this idea was brought up last year, and this could just be the way it is. Once guys start getting up into the 80 and 90s, the AI might not be able to do shit and might back down entirely.

I'm trying to reserve judgment until I level my skater up (I'm working on grinding through "Live the Life" today to unlock boosts) because it will get pretty discouraging very quickly if you try going against those teams that are a good 40+ games ahead of you. I still definitely think there are some solid improvements from 12 and 13, but I do think you'll see more holes as players start to gain their "superpowers"

Been playing drop ins with no problems but I'm also at Rookie 2 and the AI is still playing great. Also, new tuner set is out. Maybe yall should rent it first from now on, cause no way going im going back to 12 or 13. I can strafe now.

lol...who suggested going back to 12 or 13? The servers are going to be shut down for 12 soon, and 13 was way shittier. For better or worse, this is my game this year. I'm just trying to stay on an even keel here. I don't want us to get too hyped up and then come crashing down when the douches start rearing their heads. I'm not ready to praise this as the greatest NHL game ever...but I can recognize that I need to put the work in to better my skater as well. Overall, I think it's reasonably fair to just say "It's NHL".

If anybody wants to play, I'll be around for the next couple hours.

I just played a good game with sendme. Pretty close battle. He outshot me 22-17, but I had more time on attack. I ended up winning 2-0. First goal was a little flukey...kind of a scramble in front off a rebound. Second goal was pretty though...faceoff win from Craig Smith to Shea Weber who just unleashed the thunder of God in a slapshot that Halak had no chance on, lol. sendme also got a game misconduct when he boarded the shit out of one of my guys, lol. I'm just glad they called it.

Hitting is definitely juiced this year though. Just everything all over the ice is bodies flying. Sometimes it feels like a demolition derby with the puck just floating around in the middle. One guys hits the puck carrier, next guy comes in and hits him, next guy comes in and hits that guy, and the puck just keeps drifting around aimlessly, lol. Definitely a different feel to this years game.

I also think rebounds are still pretty crazy. It's still very possible to skate into the zone, whip a wristshot at the goalie and have it bounce right to somebody on the other side. I was fortunate that my defensemen were recovering those rebounds...but you could definitely see where that could become a "strategy" again. As long as the defensemen don't act clueless to where the puck is, it might be all right though. Time will tell.

I will keep an eye out in hut then to see if I might get 2 packs a week, but I'm thinking that my time getting the packs has ended.

EDIT: Saw the app. Says I'm good till April. I would have downloaded the game over the weekend if I knew about the app. Oh well

I learned how to poke check very well, you just have to glide instead of moving your feet. So far my record of fighting is 20-3. I actually enjoy the fighting this year as people just don't learn from some things. Like to know what the new online tuner set dud. I'm too lazy to research.

I'm 3-0 in fights with my 65 fighting center, lol. For people who spam the right stick, I just use the right trigger and let them wear themselves out. Then I KO them or take them down. It's been working so far. :)

Just had another good game with Matt Young. I squeaked out a 1-0 victory in a very close game. We each had 13 shots and time on attack was within 60 seconds of each other, I think. Both Rinne and Quick played very well. My goal came on one of those fatty rebounds though. Obviously, I wasn't trying for it, and I did pull up and hesitate with my skater, as opposed to just charging in and firing right away...but it did make me wonder what the game would have been like if I was going for it all game.

I told Matt it might be reasonable to have a policy on that for our franchise. It's not going to be easy to regulate, but basically, if multiple people are filing complaints about somebody just skating into the zone looking for opposite side rebounds all game, then that person should receive a strike against them. Not a huge sample size yet, but that one's standing out to me so far as being exploitable and having the potential to ruin some good games.

I love that you have to glide in for the best accuracy possible. Moving your feet while shooting drops it so low. Im glad they took some real life stuff and implemented it into the game.

Yeah, well that's why I don't consider that one that I got to be an exploit. I was actually trying to make Quick think I was going to pass by hesitating. But then when I shot it, he just kicked it right to Craig Smith for the easy tap in. But I still think it becomes cheap if that's your modus operandi every time down the ice...as opposed to working the puck around and looking for a quality shot. I really haven't seen the goalies kick the puck to the corner much since I got the full game. It's been very 45 degree angle right out in front for many rebounds. Just something to be mindful of moving forward.

For some reason it feels like the tuner set screwed up the whole thing with goalies directing the puck to the corner... Last night most shots were getting directed to the corner. I then got home about 3 PM today and got the new tuners and it was 50-50 where they directed the puck. Then a couple hours ago there was another tuner set that really seemed to screw up the redirects and rebounds. I was seeing ridiculous rebound after rebound.

The one touch was really pissing me off tonight. Played an online HUT game and the guy I was playing against was blowing past me every time whether I went for a hit or played the puck. Yet I was trying to do it with Nyquist who has good hands and speed, and was getting lit up every time.

In regards to HUT, I think I'm done buying packs until they release a promo player pack. I got my team up to a 4 star with a gold jumbo tonight which got me a Pavelac (spelling is probably off on that haha) who is 82 overall. I pretty much have my team all NHL players already with the exception of I think one AHL player who is rated 77 or 79. I'll probably just buy the occasional pack for contracts.

Lastly, Sendme, you said you were playing season mode for pucks... How many pucks do you get per game? I know in Live the Life you only get about 50 it seems like per game.

Depending on what they take away I get 30-55.  When I have a lot of fights and go off sides it is around 30.  For the few games that I don't have a lot of fights its been at most 55.  I'm guessing outside of HUT they are all around the same.  The other modes, not including Moments, don't really seem like a good way to build up the pucks, but it is nice to be able to get them.  Seems like they are trying to make it so people play more of HUT.  I see future games being more focused around it than anything else.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't call it a good way to build up pucks. It's more of an "if you're going to play it anyway" kind of thing. At least you get something for it. So, on weekends where I can play anywhere from 10-20 EASHL games, getting pucks for them is a great incentive to go back into HUT again.

I finally have a Saturday off. We good for tomorrow night?
I know I am.

I also finally convinced Amazon that they fucked up and didn't send me my pre-order codes, and they resent them. So, I now have my Warrior and CCM player packs. And my 24 Gold HUT packs. Huzzah.

Ugh...of course I'm having trouble with my HUT packs code. I've tried it both with and without dashes (and obviously, I'm entering it from the in-game menu).

I get a "There are no items available for purchase at this time." error from the Xbox guide itself. And then a "Sorry, the code cannot be redeemed. Please try again." error from the game after I press A to get out of the guide. I've entered the code 5 or 6 times now.

Haha, yeah, I noticed that back when they first showed the video for Live the Life. The only "excuse" I can allow them is that it's for a douchey response. So, in a way, it makes sense that someone who would say something like that wouldn't know English either, lol.

Yeah...so I just broke the glass in Live the Life on a wrist shot with my 72 OVR skater...

I think that might be happening just a weeeee bit too much, lol.

I think I need to give Live the Life a try after season mode.  Is Live the Life where you create the player that you use for your own team and in EAHL?

You can create a player in several different modes. Your name, number, height, weight, etc. will be the same in both Live The Life as well as EASHL. But leveling up your character in one mode does not carry over to the other.

I didn't think HUT stuff carried over from year to year, but I just noticed that it says, "Coochsmashers: EST. 9/7/2010" on my main HUT menu.

Yea, that is the one thing that does. Unfortunately mine is only est. since last year since I messed up and accidentally deleted my team.

So far I'm 6-1 in online HUT games after getting promoted in the first season.and advancing to.the amateur cup semis before bed last night.

As for player prices, I thought they were close to the same as last year or cheaper. IvI've seen 84 OVR rated dmen for less than 2k pucks.

I was looking for some of the same players I had from 13 and they were going for 100k or more.

Also I decided to give Live the Life a try now instead of holding off till I finished my season play.  I made the player a right handed right wing sniper with the number 69 because it's funny.  Some how I ended up as a right handed center with the number 14 that I can't change.  I then decided to try out a drop in game.  The only two that I got in last night I ended up having to play goaltender for the first and right d for the second.  After last years experience in trying to make a goaltender in be a pro I don't even want to bother with it this year and I really have no idea what I'm doing to even play as a defenseman.  So what I'm wondering is before I get to far into live the life is their a way to play anything else other than center or goaltender?  If not I'm going to keep play, but if their is I'm only 4 games in so starting over isn't a big issue for me.

(in regards to offline live the life, not drop ins)

For the position and handedness, it shouldn't ever change once you start, so that's weird. You'll have to restart if you want to change it because you can't change it once you start. As for the number, it will change yours if it's already taken by someone on the team. Fairly sure you can change to another vacant number, but I don't think you can make someone else give theirs up
