MVP, I'm going to put up the remaining Norfolk players later today, for around 10,000 pucks and for two days.
Saw your post when I got home from work this morning and sent a few trades... Unfortunately, I am an idiot and completely lost track of who I was sending and I think I may have made offers for the same player multiple times. So if you are able to go ahead and accept the ones you can, then I will resubmit the others.

Also I forgot to mention, but I don't need Maroon, Cumisky, Cousineau, the away jersey, or the logo. There is also one other player that I'm forgetting at the moment.

Yeah I saw the one with multiple offers and was confused for a second. I assume it was something like that though. I'm down to seven more players to complete that collection, I accidentally accepted a trade for a player I already had, d'oh!

Man, that Wal-Mart hack or glitch was great today!
Did you actually get anything out of it (store pick up). From what I read, all online orders were cancelled and some people were even turned away at the store. I didn't see it until it was too late...although I'm almost glad because it seemed like pure chaos anyway. I like how they explained it away with a "technical error" though. Yeah...because websites just lower their prices on their own all the time. Nobody ever wants to admit that they had a disgruntled employee, lol.

Haha, sorry. Well, here. This is just one gif. Perfect for your phone.

Haha, wow. That's awesome. You're like Robin Hood...Gary Hood. :D

As for tonight, I could be on hopefully around 10:30 EST and play for a couple hours.

Wow...so, when I sit down at my computer this morning, I see Steam has a notification telling me there's a new update for the beta client. I look at what the update does..."Fixes startup crashes on DX11 games" Wait a minute...you mean like...are you serious? lol. I update Steam, press "Play" on F1 2012...yep...loads perfectly the first time. What are the odds??? So damn weird. Well, at least I can go back to trying to get it to work with the Rift again. But that was a very Truman Show kind of moment.

Thanks MVP! Do you want those players back?
Hey no problem. I would like the Griffs back... Partly because that's my home team, and partly because I use them a lot in the offline Tourneys.

If you want to do it the same way as before that works just let me know when you post them. I also got another 12k pucks for you in the way of the two NHL Blue and Red collections.

I'll put up those Griffs tonight or tomorrow.

I actually finished the NHL Blue and Red collections. I need to figure out what is the next AHL collection I could do, based on what I have.

What a difference a day makes, lol. Now that F1 2012 wasn't being a pain in the ass to run at all...I got it up and going with the Rift with just a little trial and error. Once I got the settings tweaked to my liking, it was freaking awesome and driving in the rain was especially cool. People on forums always seem to recommend cranking the 3D depth all the way up though (the default depth is 30...and they're all like "put it at 100"). But I can't ever do that without feeling like I'm going cross-eyed and getting a headache.

With Tridef, it basically works the same as 3D TV...the more depth you have, the further apart the two images are, and the more difficult it is to focus. Personally, I'd rather have subtle 3D and keep things in focus. Not "Whoa...it feels like it's right on top of me! But I can't tell what it is!" haha. So far, only the native Rift 3D stuff has been able to do both. Native Rift 3D is better than any 3D I've ever seen...other than the Terminator 2 "ride" at Universal Studios (that shit freaked me out...it felt like T-1000 was in my crotch). But native Rift 3D is totally in focus and actually makes your brain think you can reach out and touch the object. Even 3D TV to me isn't that good.

The other interesting thing about proper 3D is it's really not the same for everyone (3DS owners can attest to this). It basically doesn't "get good" unless you have your IPD (inner pupillary distance...or the distance between your eyes) set properly. It's really only a difference of millimeters, but if it's not right, it just adds to the blurriness and double vision...and can make you nauseated. Kind of neat learning more about the biological side of how our eyes/brains perceive depth. Anyway, just thought I'd share more on "the future of gaming".

Although, on that note...a lot of people have been speculating that the Rift may not actually be the future of gaming..but the future of movie watching, thanks to the incredible realism of a simple demo like this.

Wow...and while looking for that video, I just learned that somebody made a similar theater app...but one that's online where people can host movie servers. Holy crap...ok...I better stop before I keep going down the rabbit hole, here, haha.

I gotta say, ever since we switched up positions I feel like we're unstoppable.
It's weird because after you had to go, Brandon, Alan, and I switched back to our "normal" positions...and we did ok. But with a full team, I don't know, it seems like the chemistry has been different...and I've felt more comfortable on the d-line with either Alan or Gary. And I think having one of them on the forward line has been paying dividends as well.

The thing we just have to be mindful of is falling back into old habits. Trying to force a play to the middle (either passing or skating) when it's not there. Racing up the boards, barely beating the other team into the offensive zone, and then having to force a shot or turn the puck over. It becomes extremely one dimensional and easy for our opponents to defend, and I think that's where we struggled against the better teams.

If we're having trouble gaining the zone, sometimes dropping it back to get it to the other side of the ice can open something up. Or if we're barely crossing into the offensive zone and getting pressure, just pass it forward around the boards behind the net (even if no one is there...the opposite winger should be coming around that way anyway). That's not to say whipping it at the net and hoping for a rebound isn't an option...but we should probably try to mix it up.

The other point that Alan brought up was teams that were moving the puck better than us and getting rid of it before we could even get to them. I definitely think this is an area we could improve on. Part of it is seeing the play in front of you...and basically knowing at all times what you would do with the puck if it came to you. Sometimes the best play isn't A -> B. Sometimes, it's A -> B -> C. So, if you're player B...and you're not seeing that the puck has to go through you for Player C to make something happen, it's probably going to result in a turnover or a blocked shot/odd man rush the other way. Seeing the play 1-2 steps ahead can make a huge difference.

As far as either Gary or I being productive on the forward line, I think it's a product of being able to observe things from the blue line when we are in the offensive zone. It's quiet for us back there, so we can see where our plays break down easier, and avoid those mistakes when we're on the forward lines. Up till last night, Gary and I actually had the highest shooting percentages on the team.I think both Brandon and Rob could benefit by playing back on D a bit more consistently like Nate has for the sake of observation (as in 4-5 games in a row, not just a game a night).

To add to that, sometimes the best thing to do IS to get the puck from A->B, but in order to that that, sometimes we have to go from A->C->B. Even if you aren't the person pushing up the most, we have to make ourselves available for a pass; so if A->B isn't available, C,D, and E have to get open so that A doesn't get shut down.

This is especially true in the offensive zone. Start paying attention: there are sometimes where we send the puck behind the net, which is good, but then both forwards crash the front of the net for the crosser. With the two Dmen covering, thats 4 people in front of the net now, which is going to make that crosser a lot harder. Someone needs to get on the sideboards not only to give the carrier more room for the crosser, but also to give the puck carrier a backup plan if the crosser isn't there and he gets swarmed.

I definitely agree. Again, I think a lot of this is just breaking out of what became a comfortable mold from playing NHL 12 for so long. The same things don't work in this game. Sure, there are plenty of stupid goals, but I think we have to grow and add that extra wrinkle to our game if we want to break through that next wall of teams that we struggle against.

Even some of the teams that we beat...we're almost playing down to their level at times because we get sloppy...either with bad penalties (I think over aggressive stick checking is the biggest one we can improve on...as that seems to happen due to being caught out of position more than anything), bad passing (gotta shore up our aim), or skating the puck into traffic and turning it over (better to swing wide and circle behind the net if you need to, rather than allowing the defense to converge on you in the middle). We can definitely improve in these areas.

Truth be told, we are playing better than we were a couple weeks ago. We got promoted back to division 2...and we're 6-3-1 in our last 10. Maybe that's specifically because of switching positions around...or maybe it's because switching positions around essentially forced us to take a fresh approach. Either way, I think that's something we all need to do regardless of which position we're playing.

I don't know what happened. Apparently I passed out and pulled a Des.....yeah. I'll be on tonight. Also, Alan said it well. We observe a lot from the blue line and see a play sometimes. Sometimes you have to know when to shoot and when to pass. Playing D you observe it a lot.

Well, now that I've recovered from my NHL rage (at least I won my fight), there's a pretty solid new bundle up over at Bundlestars.

http://www.bundlestars.com/all-bundles/fps-warriors-bundle/?utm_source=Bundle+Stars+Newsletter&utm_campaign=78f465f85e-FPS_Warriors_Bundle_launch11_12_2013&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_3437eaaeba-78f465f85e-418827837

I've been curious about The Ship as it looks like a very interesting take on an FPS deathmatch type of game. But overall, not a bad group of games for 50 cents a piece.

Yeah, I really think Groupees and Bundlestars have upped their game lately. They've been right up there with Humble for me...maybe even surpassing them considering Humble's prices have been higher recently.

I'm also starting to side with Gary on the Wal-Mart Black Friday skepticism. I looked at the link hat goes directly to Wal-Mart, but something just seems off. I'm pretty sure the new Red Dawn is listed in the $3.96 and $6.96 sections. And Dark Knight Rises for $3.96 is a crazy price for the combo pack. I'm hopeful because there's a lot of stuff I'd be in for, but damn...some of it just looks too good to be true.

Ok, wow...The Ship is freaking awesome. I didn't realize that it's basically The Sims...but with murdering people. Your character has "needs" that you have to keep track of or you'll experience "some embarrassing side effects" as the game puts it. They have to eat, drink, piss, shit, shower, sleep, read, and talk to people (I think that's all of them). And the murder weapons range from mannequin arms, to tennis racquets, to explosives, to guns, etc. There's also outfits, hats, accessories, real reading material ranging from the Kamasutra ("to learn technique or just look at the pictures", haha...the game's words again) to the Bible and other real novels as well.

Also, the game is built on the Source engine...so yeah, it's ripe with Half Life/TF2 textures. Anybody who hasn't gotten this bundle yet needs to get on it. You actually get two extra gift copies of The Ship when you buy it. I gave mine to Brandon and Alan because I owed them. I know Rob was talking about picking it up for Dino D-Day though...so if he does, he can gift Gary a copy (though really, this bundle is easily worth $3). There actually is a single player mode (everything is a separate download though...even the tutorial, which is weird), but I'm sure this would be hilarious in multi-player. I wanna beat Gary's ass with a mannequin arm.

I just picked up the bundle too for the other games, so Rob and Gary, you guys want em?

Edit: I only see one key for the ship. Do you have to redeem that one to get the other two? If so, I guess I technically have 3.

Yeah, the key unlocks 2 additional Steam gift copies that go in your inventory. Honestly, this bundle is probably going to cause a...ahem...boatload of copies of this game to be going around. The math works out to $.50 for 3 copies of the game, lol. It's crazy that the Steam price for it is actually $20. I doubt they'll ever sell one at that price ever again.

Of course, I'm going to try to get it running in the Rift...because yeah, that's what I do now, lol. Considering Half-Life and TF2 got native support, it would be nice if they'd just add it for all Source games. It can't be that much extra work.
