Haha, good luck, Alan! That game is really popular on Youtube right now. Basically everyone is playing it. Pretty insane concept...and people almost universally saying it's one of the most paranoia inducing games ever, haha. :)

Also, apparently the NHL dev team is starting to understand that they're losing the crowd. They just posted a status on Facebook saying that an overhead gameplay video is coming tomorrow...and posted this video as a teaser (would have posted a Youtube link, but I don't see one up yet).

Beat me to it Nate. Honestly, I'm getting all the games we talked about for X1. I'll still get NHL because I need a hockey fix. I did just go and pay for The Crew and WW2k14 today however. I can't wait

That's cool. Yeah, I'll be getting The Crew on PC. Hoping it will have native Rift support...or at least trackir, mouse look, or something. Should be pretty awesome though.

Again, I have to say...look at these damn Madden trailers! This is how you do it. It has the flashy sizzle stuff, but mixed with regular camera angles, and with a voiceover telling you how new stuff works. Madden does big numbers basically no matter what too. Why doesn't the NHL team feel like they need to try this hard?

Ahahaha...yeah, that game is no joke. I saw that on Youtube earlier and I couldn't believe how disturbing it was. I really hope it's not PS4 exclusive. Also, has a Silent Hill ever been done from first person? It just doesn't feel like a Silent Hill game at all to me.

The link I posted is actually a different game; its a "demo" for the new Silent Hill game, but holy crap, it is a mind fuck

I almost watched a Markiplier video for 5 Nights, but decided to not spoil it.

Hopefully the gameplay we see tommorrow will look good

As for 5 Nights...depends how brave you're feeling, haha. If you do watch one of Markiplier's videos for it, his second one is freaking hilarious. Maybe I'm just messed up, but hearing people scared yelling "NO!!!!", "NO! fuck YOU!", and "GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!" just cracks me up.

Wow...Oculus really did some work tonight. After idiots speculating that "there must be a problem" because a 2nd European batch was shipped since the initial North American batch, the NA batch that went out tonight was massive. They covered orders from 3/21 all the way through 4/5 (latest date reported on reddit).

So, maybe you'll have yours soon'ish, Alan. I would guess within a month. Just in time for NHL 15 to not have EASHL, lol :lol:

Same. It says it is available for 4 weeks. Is that guaranteed, or might they run out of keys? I had some unexpected expenses, so even at $3, waiting til Thursday would be wise in my case.

Alan: I downloaded the Silent Hills/P.T. thing not knowing what it was. Should I try playing it at nighy with my headset on and stream it on Twitch? Thought of doing the same for Outlast, and playing that one in 3D... if you can even do that and stream simultaneously.

I'm not to worried about the rift at thus point. It'll get here when it gets here.

Aw, well, now I feel like I don't have everything...

Yeah, "it'll get there when it gets there" is the best way to look at it. When the dust settled this morning, they actually got up to 4/10 with the North American orders though, so that's pretty awesome. Just good to know how far along they are.

Somebody also pointed out that they're up to the date when the Facebook buyout was announced...so, that could have slowed orders a bit, haha. And the volume of orders would naturally go down anyway, so they should be able to start making some decent progress once they cycle through regions again.

Thoughts

Presentation looks incredible. Part of me would rather have "Be An Announcer" mode than play the actual game, lol.

1:28 - Both defensemen are back to challenge the shot. Neither does anything. Of course, it doesn't help that whoever is playing switches from one d to the other. Not sure if he was reacting to the AI not stepping up...or just being an overaggressive spaz. I guess you could also say the deke threw them off. Like usual, it's not a problem unless it happens all the time.

Rebounds look huge. The puck seems to just rocket and flip off the goalie on almost every shot. I guess that's not a problem if it's not being instantly corralled.

2:26 - Again, whoever is playing defense is kind of being a spaz. He's basically got 3 guys on the puck carrier, keeps switching to a different skater (he switches to 4 different players in about 5 seconds, lol), and gets them all out of position. This creates a wide open slot and an easy goal. It's definitely good to see smart play rewarded. But it's hard to draw good or bad conclusions when the other guy is playing like a moron.

2:56 - Ok, this one is a little suspect. The guy still isn't playing great d (different teams, but based on the playstyle, I'm reasonably confident it's the same person getting scored on every time), But that backside AI defenseman does a pretty terrible job playing the passing lane. And then he ends up tripping over his own goalie taking him out of the play. The human player does switch to him at the last second, but to me it looks like that would have happened anyway.

Wow...it does say 1-2 for "players" for Xbox Live and has nothing listed for Xbox Live "co-op". That would just be unreal. Why in God's name would they take out one of their most popular modes? Unless they're going to pull a Microsoft and do an Xbox 180, I'd almost want to not buy the game out of principle.

How fucking dense could they be? This happened with Madden 06 on the 360, and people went apeshit. I can't even process that we "should get the 360 version" since it will have EASHL (and all the shitty physics to go with it). God dammit, man. Madden better just be unbelievable, or my 3 reasons for buying a next gen console will be shit (granted...they were all EA games, so I guess I should have known...but god damn, man).

Yeah, the problem is your link was typed in by somebody (and not even an English speaking person...ew wtf? lol ;)). Box art is box art. I tell ya, if they took out EASHL and didn't have to worry about putting resources into that, GM Connected (or whatever online franchise is called...assuming it's there) better be amazing. If the other game modes aren't drastically improved, then this is a complete load of shit.

Actually, another interesting thing I noticed on that Xbox One box, offline co-op states 2-4 players...which was the standard in years past because last gen could only support 4 controllers. But the Xbox One can support up to 8 controllers. So, why can't you even play with a full team offline? EA laziness?

Yup...that pretty much does it. You can at least say with 100% certainty now that the NHL dev team intended to not have EASHL this year. With this information not coming to light until so close to launch, I even question if anything can be done (patch or otherwise). This really shows what a joke the "we bring in real gamers to test the game" nonsense is. Real gamers would have told them this was a terrible move.

It's just mind blowing. You could argue "well, maybe it's really hard to program on next gen consoles"...but FiFA has it. Time for EA to clean house with the whole NHL dev team. They were out of touch before. But this is a new level. Hopefully sales are terrible and reviews rip them to shreds.

So...thoughts on NHL15 for 360?

If there truly is no EASHL, it would make me hesitant to even support 15 on an older console.

So its dead, official word in the coming weeks. Will wait till then to transfer pre order to something else. I figured it would be at least '14 with the new graphics/physics. Wish they would have released this at launch with xbox one, then this years could have been fixed.

EA Sports has been primarily focusing on the new features for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, and is not expected to have made many changes to the game modes themselves.)

I agree. It would feel insanely stupid to buy it on an old console...because that would still give them the same amount of profit.

If we're going to play EASHL on 360, we might as well just keep 14 and continue on that. I would bet that's what most people will do. Buy 15 on Xbox One for new physics, announcers, etc. Play 14 on 360 for EASHL.

Yeah, I would probably go that route too. I mean, if there's no EASHL, the only real reason I'd even care about NHL 15 on Xbox One would be for an online league...and we usually wait for the first roster update anyway. At that point, I'd just get the game used from GoHastings or something, save a bit of money, and not give EA a penny.

I have to say though, if EASHL isn't in the next gen version, and the game STILL gets a 7.5 or higher rating, I'm going to lose my mind.

 
Well, I'll be on in about 25 minutes to play NHL 14/15. Who would have thought we'd get to experience NHL 15 EASHL mode so early? :lol:

For me, the biggest thing is that they haven't said anything about it. The rumours have been floating around for weeks, and started really picking up this week. They haven't said anything about it.

On the other hand, the last trailer was out for a day, and they immediately dismissed first person mode within a day. It makes no sense to wait this long to address the game modes; the rampant speculation can be 100% blamed on EA's lack of communication on the matter.

I wasn't willing to believe it until I saw the box. There's no reason for that box to exist if that wasn't the plan. Even if it were just a random Google image, I'd say "oh, that's a fake". But where would Costco get that image?

And like Alan said, they could relieve everyone and avoid all the bad press with a 140 character tweet. But they'd rather make people wait till next week? I'm trying to remain hopeful, but the evidence is mounting.

 
Yeah, the lack of response is what is troubling most. There's a 21 page thread on the EA Forums that finally got locked about this. You'd think that maybe they'd say "Hey guys, not to worry, we've got some exciting news/developments about EASHL coming next week." Bam done, and crisis resolved.

 
Ummmm I guess I'm late to the party. Possibly no EASHL? I will be buying FIFA instead if that's the case.

EDIT: actually that just gives EA my money also. I'll just have to find something totally different. Nba2kwhatever? I dunno but I'm not buying an NHL with no EASHL. that's basically all I play.

Maybe. But he still sounds like a moron in this video. Who the fuck thinks Gamestop would know anything about a demo. They don't sell demos.

And yeah, Destro, I thought about Fifa but came to the same conclusion. That might be another one in the used pile.
