Official?: No spring PS3 launch

[quote name='mercilessming']Really? I would like to know where when I have gone into bestbuy with intentions on replaceing my dvd player they don't have a 99 dollar or less Sony or Panasonic player that has the 3 main options I have to have svideo, optic sound and progresive scan. Most below 150~200 dollar range only have coax digital out and some I have seen don't have s video just component and rca and I will only buy a Sony or Panasonic brand dvd player.

I am picky about brand loyality and product quality

I like Sony and Panasonic for TVs
Panasonic or Sony for Dvd Players
Samsung for CRT only Monitors
Onkyo for Amplifiers
Cerwin Vega for Floor Standing only speakers.

Also, I have a Samsung DVD player and have had it for years, it was like $160ish when I got it. It has all the bells and whistles, it plays dvds with a nice picture. Sony isn't the only way to go. The PS2 is horrible for DVD playback, you can find better DVD players for $99 or a little more. Sorry, didn't mean to get sand in your puss by implying that you can get a better DVD player for the price of a rumored pricedrop of the PS2.

To be honest I think sony could wait to launch in 2007 spring in japan, and launch for the 2007 holiday season in the us and still catch the other two systems in a year as far as sales is concerned. But we will have to see what info they have at this years e3..

I'm pretty sure whatever they have at E3 will be more powerful than their final systems as well, because of their desperate situation right now.

I dunno, all I know is that all sony has to do is show something pretty and everything else is beaten.

Not going to happen but a good thought  Sony's problem is that their system cost is way to high.

If they are making the PS3 better and possibly cheaper then good, let it be delayed. I'm in no rush to get it even though it will be my first next-gen console.

Hopefully by delaying the PS3 they can make sure it wont overheat or destroy games :p

But seriously, there might actually be GOOD launch games if the PS3 is delayed. First time in gaming history (then again, the PSP had a good ~20 games available at launch which was nice).

Why is everyone assuming this delay will affect the MSRP? Like I have been saying for a long time: If Sony is a no show with real working hardware with some good looking games at E3, PS3 is done. And as PS3 goes, so does BR-D.

What sucks is the trailer for MGS4 looks absolutely jaw-dropping cool, if it is actual gameplay remains to be seen.

Kojima doesn't use pre-rendered graphics...its already been proven by him that it is real time.

That doesn't prove that the graphics will stay like that for the final game. If Sony ends up looking at manufacturing costs and the like, there's always the chance they will scale back certain features of the PS3 to meet market prices/be on time/etc.

In other words, no reason to care about graphics until we see a final game, pressed and gold, running on final hardware.

This is not to say it will be better/worse. It's purely saying to wait until final products.
