This thread will list all the different retail version of digital only games on one disk/code. In other words, it will list retail games that come digital only games or multiple digital only games on one disk, whether or not the digital only games is on disk or code, the price, and whatever other notes are necessary. This is only for non-PC games since the PC gaming scene has had an explosion of digital sales through the popularity of Steam and other services, and so retail versions of digital only games are not as “deal-worthy” as the consoles or, even more rarely, handhelds. In addition, Limited/Collector's Editions that are released with digital only alongside with specific games by code will not be included. This thread is merely for the re-release of a game with its digital only games included.

In addition, I will add when necessary retail version of digital only games of games you can import that are region free for systems like the PS3 and will come with the said games on disk or code but only ones that are import friendly. It will not list most PS3 HD collections/remasteres due to the fact that most of these said games are on disk before digital or digital around the launch of said games.

Definitions
I will define some terms to more clearly explain how the digital only games/multiple games on one disk are delivered in each game.
▪ Pre-loaded: The digital only games/multiple games on one disk is on disk and built into the game. It does not require any additional installation.
▪ Install: The digital only games/multiple games on one disk is on disk and must be installed to the hard drive to use.
▪ Code/Voucher: The DLC is downloaded via a one-time voucher or code. Once it's been used, it cannot be reused by another console/Gamertag, and you lose the digital games so to speak.
If there any mistakes, missing info, or anything else that will help improve this thread, please let me know because I want this to be as accurate as possible. In addition, thank you in advance to everyone who submits info and helps make this thread as best as it can be.

I think what the OP is getting at is that the retail is release is a code to download the game, rather than being on a disc (though it might still come with a disc), as well as hybrids where a collection has both games on disc as well as codes (like the AC example he gave, some of the God of War stuff, FFX/X2 HD on Vita, etc)

The topic as it stands is a mess but I could see it being useful if done properly.

 
I think this thread is a very good idea even if the execution is weird. It could really come in handy for fans of niche Japanese games as there are a few US releases that are digital only but have physical English releases in Europe or Asia. Lots of Vita games get this treatment in other regions as well (Hence why there are UK copies of MINECRAFT and The Ratchet and Clank Collection on my Vita shelf). Smaller download-only games also sometimes get physical editions like the aforementioned Assassin's Creed III: Liberation HD. Other examples could include Child of Light, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, and Tokyo Jungle. People might be unaware that these versions of the games exist and could use a thread to keep track of whether they exist, where to buy them, and when they go on sale.
 
I rarely comment on threads, but I couldn't resist. This seems like a waste of time. Someone has too much free time on their hands.

Actually good idea, but i'm not sure what you're trying to say. there are people who live outside of the US (like myself) that rather digital deals than hard copy deals, because after the shipping and wait it doesnt become a deal anymore. So this would mostly benefit those who live outside the US and still want to buy their games cheap and have instant download. Thanks but try to execute this better

I would rather have a thread dedicated to deals on physical releases of previously digital only titles.  Then again there is already a compilation/game of the year thread.

With that said, I suppose Far Cry Compilation would fit in with this thread.

Nothing new for me to write that is not done above. The thread execution is poor, but it can have some merit.

I think this thread could help with the following:

1. US and non-US digital only releases that can be obtained in English and physical form in other regions.

1a. Whether said release is region-locked or not.

2. Digital only games released in physical form on compilations or after initial digital release.

Otherwise, this thread is useless.

Yeah exactly, like Way of the Samurai 4, which I imported from the UK to have a physical English version instead of the USA digital only release (a pc version is also coming but it's on Steam). And the Killer Instinct combo breaker pack which is the xbox one physical version of the season 1 digital release.

 
Need clarification: which said games qualify? Only the said retail disc digital-only games, or the said digital retail disc-only games?

 
So, would games like Short Peace, Child of Light, White Knight Chronicles Origins, and Wipeout HD Fury fall into this category?

That Lara Croft release was a digital code in a box. Not the game on a disc. Not sure if's what the OP is thinking of defining though? Kinda confused.

We are running into a time when a lot of games that original released as digital only are then ending up being released as physical retail releases. For someone like me who collects physical release games, it would be nice to easily keep track of what was released on a disc.

 
There's essentially really four sorts of categories here (which have been brought up already):

-Games sold as physical on one region and digital only in another (common with nichier Japanese games)

-Games sold originally only as digital, and later gotten normal retail physical releases (Child of Light Vita, Journey, etc)

-Games sold seemingly physical but you're really just buying a DL code (Ducktales Remastered...hell I think Skyrim PC falls in here)

-Games sold as part of a compilation/anthology where some of the games are DL codes (FFX/2 HD Vita, one or more of the God of War Collections)

 
This would be useful for games that are digital only in the US but have a physical release elsewhere. I thought that's what it was when I first came in here.

It's interesting to see games defy those conventions by having a DL code in a box first, then reprinted on disc. (Patapon 2)

I want to clarify that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon only comes on disc with the U.S. Xbox 360 version of Far Cry Compilation. With both versions of Far Cry: The Wild Expedition and the PS3 version of Far Cry Compilation, Blood Dragon is a code only.

PS3 - Wipeout Fury HD is on disc for EU.

PS3 - Tokyo Jungle was released in the US under the Best of PSN Collection Volume 1. 

PS3 - Way of the Samurai 4 was released in English for EU.

PS3 - Both Saint Seiya titles are available in the EU on disc.

PS3 - One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 - EU on disc.

PS3 - Strider Japanese has English text option on it, so it is 100% playable without a FAQ.

PS3 - Darkstalkers Resurrection mentioned above has the menus in English, but the winning phrases, etc. is in Japanese.

Ratchet and Clank Collection is available on the PS Vita in the EU.

I think there's only the ps3 version for a physical import copy of RE HD Remastered w/English. Though digital, the pc version is probably the best one (since it's 60 fps, not limited to just 30)

In what countries did those get physical releases? (the ones I starred) Not in the US were they? I'm aware of the others, but not those.

You and I are very much on the same page me thinks.. unless you're collecting games from other regions (vampire hiss!)

I will only add shovel knight and life is strange when the retail versions of said games are publicly announced, as the BestBuy listing for shovel knight does not list Wii U/PS3/PS Vita and may or may not be announced for those systems when the conformation is public. Same thing for life is strange as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are not listed on BestBuy and may or may not come for the same reason as shovel knight.
