Official Sears Clearance Thread II - post Sears finds/deals here

Dropped by my local Sears to pick up Halo Wars, as Google Products Search said they're the only place left locally that has it--and holy shit they have ALOT of games that are no longer in print. Namely Warioware Smooth Moves, Mario Superstar Baseball & Super Mario Strikers, amongst others (Perfect Dark Zero).

Unfortunately all the games are clamshelled and locked on their pegs so I couldn't get price checks.

Anyone know the going price of Wariware:SM, Mario Baseball & Mario Strikers?

Hmm. I hate to add to my Wii backlog but that's a hard price to pass up.

I'm sure it's covered in other threads, but is there a simple UPC code generator so I can bring a printout of what games I can remember to hit up a scanner (If there is one.)

jot down the upc from the price tag and have a cashier type it in.

:wii: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn $39.97 (3/12) (was marked 49.99)

sears sells games? LOL never knew that. Maybe i'll have to swing in and check their stuff out. Sounds like they keep it locked up though so you cant really check prices. Kinda a pain

Has anybody had them scan/seen priced correctly Metro 2033? That's another one I'd like to pick up on the cheap sometime... I noticed a couple pages back somebody saw it with last month's clearance sticker on it but no update.

Ended up getting Singularity on the 360 (was still priced at 39.99 so had to have them get it out of the glass locker and scan it) and Patapon 2 for 20 and some change. Not bad, especially considering Singularity is back up to 32.99 used at Gamestop and the cheapest used at Amazon is $15.

Saw MGS Peacewalker for $20, but then saw that it was at that price almost everywhere now.
I believe the version of Patapon 2 that's in stock at Sears is a DLC voucher only version though as there's no UMD in the case itself. So once that's used then a trade in may be unlikely.
Sorry wasn't clear, I meant I locked in a trade for the first Patapon game. I've barely played it and heard from many people it's not even worth playing, just skip right to 2.

That's how you get the best deals though. If stuff were out and properly marked, then other people would end up buying everything up.:whistle2:#

I'm too lazy to print UPCS, and the employees at Sears are even lazier that they won't open up the glass cases to let me sift through the piles of stacked games. The shelves at Sears look as incompetent as the shelves at KMart....no wonder they are the same company.

then you're to blame for not getting deals.

Because Sears employees' laziness is what allows us to get get the good stuff since everyone else thinks it's at MSRP.

Actually they're the same company because they 'merged'(corporate speak for one bought the other out) a while ago.

As for the laziness, the employees have been good about pulling games on clearance out of the case and putting them into the metal dump bins. Then it's just up to me to drag them to the self scanner and check them.

I prefer this method to waiting for help and then getting a sigh after I want X, Y and Z game actually scanned after being told that 'the price marked IS the price'.

My closest Sears does not sell games. So don't get your hopes up. Luckily the one by my Best Buy does.

Here is a hint I believe I read previously in this thread: Stand near a HDTV (which should be very close to game section) and employees will flock to you so fast because they want the commission. Then slyly ask "Hey, do you have the keys to the video game case?"

And yes, my Sears packs the games in spine up, BUT a row of games on top. So you have no clue what is on the bottom rows

Wow, I was surprised to see this topic at the top of the list to be honest, I barely ever notice it. But regardless, I was at a Sears in Raleigh, NC and scored Singularity for 14.97. I was pretty excited, as I've heard nothing but good things about the game, but could never find it for a worthwhile price.

Saw GDRB:ps3: for $4.97 that appeared somehow recently.

Picked up a sport jacket and matching dress pants for $53.xx after 70% off the Jacket and apparently B1G1 on the set. (originally, they would have been $260 together)

I wish I could scan games that easily. 1 Sears near me has the electronics enclosed with glass walls with walk through security sensor at the only entrance/exit. The other Sears without the glass walls doesn't want anyone taking games out of the area to the scanner. I'm stuck using the printed UPC codes.

Dress pants as in dressing up pants, not as in anything related to a dress like girls wear :p

Just make an employee take it out and scan it...that's their job and at most Sears there's a ton of them standing around doing nothing anyway.

It's easier for me to just print out UPC's, I know they are supposed to scan stuff if you ask but I had employees refuse to scan stuff in the past (not just Sears but other stores too) and I hate getting into arguments.

That first description of a Sears electronics section enclosed in glass walls reminds me of the one Sears in a mall I was in in northern NJ. It was about 30-35 minutes drive from the border with PA and even though everything was clearly marked with shelf tags I still found a ton of stuff there.

If anybody is interested, they moved most of the stuff in the glass locker out into the main table.

Only thing I was really interested in was Metro 2033 so I took that over to the scanner (on the other side of the store) and it was still ringing up at 29.99.
I saw Kung Fu Rider for 19.97...is the game really that bad?
It's terrible. The motion sensory is very spotty and there's just not enough content there. It should ahve been a PSN game and even then it wouldn't have been worth it. But if curiousity is really getting to you, I got my copy at Target for $10, then preceded to sell it for $15.

Found :ds: Rock Band 3 for $4.97 & :psp: Patapon 2 (download code retail release) for $3.97 at the Woodlands one.
I saw Kung Fu Rider for 19.97...is the game really that bad?
Yeah it is...maybe worth 7 bucks, maybe less.
I know where the sears stores are located. I am asking reemer99 what store he bought the games at since he tends to hit the same area.
I believe he's telling you that the product search function on Google now works with Sears, including clearance items/prices. So you can search nearby on Google product search to see if there's any copies near you.

I understand. That is not what I am asking. I know what stores have the game. I know how many copies each store has. Now one store has one less copy. I would like to know what store has one less copy, so I do not have to drive to 4 stores figuring it out.

If only they had some kind of device that would let you contact people by punching in 10 digit sequences of numbers...

Ten digits? Maybe if you're making a long distance call.;)

Funny, but that's not going to work....you could be at the store, in front of the display, with a manager, with his PDA and they still wouldn't be able to correctly answer the question "how many of these do you have in stock?".

By phone....lol....never going to know if you got a correct answer.

Once I asked an employee with a PDA to scan and check the price for a ps3 Green Day. He looked at the sticker and said "It's $9.xx". I asked him "Did I ask you to read the price off the sticker here or did I ask you to scan the game and check the price?" He said "But it's 100% $9.97". I said "Maybe you don't understand what I'm saying because you still didn't scan the barcode and you are still telling me the price. Please just scan the game". He scans it and says "It's $4.xx, they must have just clearanced it". I told him that is why I asked in the first place.

My point is that some employees don't do work even if you are standing in front of them. So slowdive21's question has merit.
Which store was that at?
Sorry for the late response. Crystal Lake IL store is where I picked them up and it was Sears, not Kmart. They still had one copy of FES, no more LEs but I did see another LE at the McHenry store.

Surprisingly, the clearance has returned to Laguna Hills, CA Sears.
Not surprisingly, most of the clearance prices are still $5-15 higher than regular prices elsewhere.
Not all bad, though. I almost bought a DJ Hero PS3 bundle for $24.97, and I did pick up a RB2 kick pedal for $2.97.
My drum kit is of the crappy RB1 variety, and I've heard that the pedal on RB2 was much sturdier. In any case, now that you can use the kick pedal to deploy your star power on keyboards in RB3, figured I could part with three bucks, since it'll be performing double-duty.

That IS pretty funny.

Is Sears clearance back? Maybe. I popped in this weekend and wrote down a bunch of prices, some good, some terrible. Here it is:

:psp: Buzz Master Quiz $5
:ds: Dragon Quest IV $18
:ds: Flash Focus $8
:ps3: Green Day Rock Band $5 (360 = $20)
:ds: LoZ: Phantom Hourglass $21
:ds: Starfy $20
:ds: Jillian Michaels 2010 $4
:psp: Rock Band Unplugged $11
:psp: RType Command $7
:psp: Hot Shots Golf Open Tee 2 $13
:ds: Trauma Center 2 $17
:wii: Punchout $30
:360: Brutal Legend $10
:wii: Boom Blox Bash Party $15
:360: Shivering Isles (Oblivion expansion) - $15
:360: Orange Box $15
:ps3: SingStar Abba $7
:360: Dark Void, Lego Rock Band, Rock Band 1 - $10
:psp: Jeanne D'Arc $13 (FINALLY...)
:psp: Patapon 2 - $4

Like I said, not the best stuff, but some unusual things (Zelda?!) and at least some in the ol' sub-$5 zone. YMMV? I have no idea, this store has been mostly by-the-books in the past though.
Found this pretty funny:

One of the game/peripheral bundles I saw at the other local Sears last week had a sticker like that on it, but still rang up with a price when I scanned it.

Anyway, I picked up two copies :ps3:Green Day Rock Band from the closer Sears the other day. They were in the case still and the employee helping me seemed adamant that if they were clearance they would've been ticketed and out in the dump bin.

He was quite annoyed when they scanned $5 each.

If anybody goes by Sears please scan/have them scan Metro 2033 on the 360.

Also, is Green Day RB $5 on 360 too or just PS3?

Next time I go back I'm going to be tempted to fill up a cart and head to the other side of the store and scan a bunch of stuff myself since they moved a bunch more games out front.

Just PS3. The 360 version is still ringing up at full price ($20).
