Edit by Io - The most recent (1/26) drops are in the very beginning of the second post, so look there first!

------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT -- Feb 4th
Things have changed drastically since I started this thread and I've gone from a quality control monitoring job with other duties thrown in to monitoring double the amount plus the work of others. Bascially, I now do the job of three comparing the company now to that of a year ago thanks to layoffs and not hiring to replce people leaving. Plus I generally work 6 days a week and often ten hours with no break. I'd quit, but I have a hunch that our department will be hubbed in another city around July and I might as well hang in for the layoff package. Basically, this means I have zero time for internet and thread managing the way it should be done. My trade list and pm box fall by the wayside and I hardly email or even check my facebook/myspace. I didn't even find time to manage my fantasy football team and will completely forego baseball.

I know IO is busy enough as it is with a couple of threads, but if anyone wants to take over this thread and start a new one, please do so. Of course, I should have all the time in the world to keep it up to date if you want to wait unitl around July.

I got tired of going to TRU for the most recent clearance drops only to find more here on CAG from one of the three threads after I got back from the store. So I've compiled a list from the posts of Starving Gamer, Benboxer, life.exe, cmosfm, Kevzik's pics of lists at his store, the lists I saw at local TRUs and the many posts of awesome CAGs in those threads. I am by no means associated with TRU and I don't have inside information on upcoming drops, but I wanted to post a consolidated list to help other CAGs. As new drops occur Benboxer, Starving Gamer and anyone else is welcome to post new lists here and/or in seperate threads for more attention for the new items and I'll update the OP for total lists. Please keep in mind that some of these games are YMMV on price and as with all ongoing clearances availability is always YMMV as well. Most 9.90, 5.00 and 3.00 games are from the recent drop of a couple weeks ago. Thanks again for everyone's contributions and especially those early lists. I wanted to get this up and running and will do some tidying to the list as necessary. I'm not familiar with every game on the list so feel free to post or pm inconsistencies in titles!

NEW PLEASE READ SEE POST #2 FOR LATEST DROPS
A few things about pricing. All of the last round of drops are 9.90, 5.00, or 3.00. A lot of the 9.90 games were 19.98 before, most of the 5.00 were 9.98 and most of the 3.00 were 5.00. So if you see a game that is 19.98, chances are it may drop to 9.90 next drop which will probably be in a few months. As with any clearance a lot of these games may have been sold out at your store before they were even clearanced and now that the latest drop has been at least a month those games may be hard to find now, too. I do still see several 19.98 some 9.90 and some 5 & 3 games in this area. Don't forget to check the glass case and you can ask if a game is in back as sometimes this is the case.

Don't forget to post your trade wishes and wants in the Official TRU Trading Thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121672

READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE CHECKING THE LIST
Games in blue are from the latest drop, most of which were on clearance already at higher price points.
Games in green are VERY RARE games from the latest drop that were originally shipped to stores in VERY LIMITED quantities when the game was released and only a very few CAGs have found these.
Games in Yellow are have been widely reported as YMMV as pertains to price point.
Games in Orange are new reports that are awaiting confirmation
Does anyone know when this 20% off deal ends?

I know I supposedly have 14 days to price adjust the games I bought earlier this week, but I assume I have to go while the 20% of deal is in effect - so if it's today only, or ends next Friday, then 14 days will be too late. TRU isn't close, otherwise I'd go today.
I think 8/17, but im not 100% sure on that.
Have controllers gone on clearance at TRU lately? I just realized I need to pick up one of those limited edition pink ones -- or if someone has one/knows where to get one cheap/wants to sell me one?

Jay
The Pink one is 44.98, so like 37 bucks with 20% off. I didnt know they were limited edition though.

Seems the 5.00 games are not on clearance..... They run them up hit total everything and at the end it still showed

5.00

Now the 2 games i picked up for 9.98 rang up at 7.48 so i got 4 bucks back

Picked up the following Xbox 360 games:

Blue Dragon - $8
Virtual Tennis 3 - $8
Far Cry Instincts - $4
Forza 2 - $8
Fuzion Frenzy 2 - $8

Pretty sweet deal. Thanks!

I got Farcry Instincts for the 360. It showed as 5-1=4.

The games should have rung up at 7.98 though, so all in all it's the same.

I almost was denied getting my games price adjusted. She pointed me to the sign where it says 6/27 to (whatever day it ends). She then thought about it and asked me when I bought the game. I told her Monday and that the system will allow it as others have had their games adjusted. She said if the system allows it, she'll adjust the games.

Then I went to buy Raw Danger for PS2 in the Gift Packaging. The $1.00 didn't come off the price. I took it to customer service and said that the sign says items ending in .00 are eligible. She then tried to adjust it and said the system wasn't prompting for the adjusting but she would manually adjust it so that is what you need to do if the 20% off doesn't get taken off the $5.00 games

sweet..it worked no problem, got price adjustments on Jeanne D arc (9.98), GT4 ($5) and Phantasy star universe ($5) surprisingly. Got $4.24 back total.:)

Looking to trade.

Have:

PSP: Jeanne D'Arc (factory sealed)

Want:

X360: Blue Dragon (factory sealed)
X360: Eternal Sonata (factory sealed)
DS: Final Fantasy III (factory sealed)

if we want to try to get a price adjustment on the 5 dollar games, is there a way to show that there is the 20% off clearance actually going on? I bought couple of games today for 5 dollars but the lady at the cashier said she didnt know anything about it.

Bought 5 copies of Super Money Ball Wii(all they had) and a Enchanted Arms (X360) for $35.02(tax) and flipped them at Gamestop, got $70.7

Prey is $4 ($5-$1)

This new 20% clearance ends August 16th or the 19th, I can't remember what the price checker said, but it was definately one of these two. You may want to get some of these before monday because they already raised the prices of some non game clearance today.

But more importantly, there's a pretty nice deal in this- XBox Live 1600 points are considered clearance for some reason, and rang up for 15.99. Not as nice as the Target + $10 off xbox coupon from a month ago or so, but it's still a nice deal. I don't know if this applies to certain versions of the cards or the 4000 point cards (there was none for me to check), but this was the newer looking points card that also mentions game for windows with upc 882224092098.

This could be a mistake, so i'd hurry before someone catches it and fixes it.

hi all,

went in today and asked about the price matching was told sure . i also pointed out that the games i just purchased (monkeyball wii) @ $5.00 did not give me a discount and was told that the system for some reason hasnt caught up yet and that anything in the store ending with .00 or .98 is %20 off after pming all my purchases for the past week i ended up with just under $25 bucks back now thats cheap ass gaming baby !
so yea the $5.00 games are on clearance also.

I caused massive amounts of confusion trying to get my Every Extend Extra re-price-matched... I bought at $14.98 on Sunday, then PMd on Monday to the new $9.98 price (With no problem)... today the CSR first wondered why I wanted to return it if the game was cheaper (I didn't say "return", I said "price match"), then tried to tell me the game was still $9.98 (Which I knew from here it wasn't) so she sent me over to videogames to verify what the price should be, and told me they could do the adjustment.

Of course, this TrU had closed ALL registers but in the videogame area for some reason so I had to stand in line for 5-10 minutes (almost getting hit in the head a few times by this older woman carrying 6 pool noodle things) while someone checked out and spent forever getting $6.86 out of her purse to the penny in change.

The cashier was very nice, confirmed the price was $7.98, and then said she wasn't allowed to price match. She called the customer service desk, told them it was ok, and sent me back over there. Where I had to stand in line again.

The CSR at customer service still didn't completely get what I was trying to do, and then she had no idea how to do a PM. Thankfully the rep who helped me Monday (While she was being trained!) apparently got it down very quickly as she pulled off the PM in about 30 seconds.

(and then because I was buying another game it all went out of control again figuring out how to credit me)

Pretty much not worth the $2 I got for the hassle (After it was so easy on Monday!).. grand total spent was probably 20 minutes. And I didn't even bring my Jam Sessions receipt after everyone was saying $5 games weren't working (I didn't see ANY signs about the clearance sale and no one in the store seemed to know what I was talking about, but it did indeed show up on the receipt as "20% off clearance".

Of course while there, with all the confusion I totally forgot to check for Arkanoid/Space Invaders for the B2G1.. grr.

So I'll probably go back to a different TRU and try to get Jam Sessions adjusted, although for the $1 it may not be worth my time. (I wanted to check out the clearance stuff anyway, still looking for an EDF for $8)

Hmmm... So is the consensus that the 20% just hasn't been applied in the system to every game but it should apply? They told me it was probably only on $x.98 games but they would try. On my receipt from Weds I had all of the following for $5: Far Cry (360), Super Monkey Ball (Wii), Fantastic Four (Wii), Jam Sessions (DS), and Narnia (DS). When they repriced them all only Far Cry came up $4 while the rest were all still $5. She tried to explain that it was because of the B2G1 free on the DS games (as I had 3 total) but then that didn't explain the Wii game prices.

I also bought a Far Cry and it came up $4 along with a Hot Shots Tennis for PS2 which also came up $4. So in my limited experience I'd say it works on 360 and PS2 games but not on Wii or DS games. If it is just because they haven't entered them all yet then I may try again tomorrow if I find myself near another TRU.

It was probably just as well you didn't bring your Jam Sessions receipt as they tried to adjust that one for me but it still came up $5. At the store I was at there was no sign either so there was no basis for an override or anything - I was the only one who knew about the additional discount ;).

Didn't you say you had several Hot Shots Tennis? See, that one did ring up $4 for me. I wonder if things changed throughout the day and more stuff got added :whistle2:k...

All that confusion is probably because you requested a price match (PM) and not a price adjustment (PA). PMing is usually associated with matching another stores price, but PAing is usually associated with matching the current stores lower price.
Are TRU prices YMMV or is it pretty much the same across the board?
It's weird, a few titles are universally marked down to that -- but many are YMMV.
I had no problem getting that one adjusted, which is why I think the issue w/ the 2 $5 Jam Sessions was because one had already been adjusted...and no further adjustments were allowed on the free copy, so it didn't allow it on the one I payed for either.

So here's how everything ended up (before tax):

Jam Sessions [DS] $5.00 (couldn't adjust)
Jam Sessions [DS] $0.00 (B2G1F)
That was my question, so I won't go back just to adjust $1 down, especially if they won't let you do it. It'll cost me about $3 worth of gas to drive back to that TRU before the toll I have to pay. LOL!
OK, off-topic, but this is a real addiction! My wife sniffs books...loves the smell of a new book. She can't pick up a book w/o sniffing it. Something about the paper and the ink... And she has friends who do the same...and they compare notes. "Have you ever smelt a vintage Jane Austen?"

Try googling 'book sniffing' some time...

Anyway...continue, please.
Sometimes the manuals - but I'll tell you where the good smells come from:

Booster packs of Magic: The Gathering cards. Mmmmmmmm.

And now I just read the following post:
I'm not an expert sniffer like this, but if it makes anyone feel better I used to love the smell of a newly opened booster pack of Magic: The Gathering cards. In fact, I still hold the belief that the scent is some form of mild narcotic which is why people get hooked and continue to buy them. :p
I concur my good man. =D

I picked up Jeanne D'Arc ($10), Jam Session ($5), Gurumin ($19), and Hot Shots Tennis ($5)

Thanks, OP!

I just got an email back from Gamefly. They refunded the credit to my credit card for all of the games because they all "don't work." No evidence needed.

hehehe.
I'm still wondering are $5 games still ringing up at $5 or now $4? all these posts aren't super clear.
Somewhere in this thread there is a post that says the $5 is a price drop, not a clearance price. So, only the other games ending in the .98 will get the extra 20%. I have no idea if that's true, but it does make sense.

According to the extra 20% off signs, anything ending in a 0 is a clearance price but the $5.00 games do not ring up for $4.00 so you need to take the receipt to customer service to get it adjusted. It has to be done manually as the system won't prompt to adjust the 20% off on $5.00 games.

The 20% off is varies. Super Monkey Ball rang up $5. Far Cry rang up $5. Gran tusimo4 rang up $4. Silver Surfer Rang up $5 yesterday and rang up $4 today... That leads me to believe something is fishy about this 20% off. When i go later on to today to pick up some games I'll give a price adjustment a try.
Anyone see Syphon Filter Dark Mirror or Splinter Cell Essentials for the PSP that they can pick up for me??? PM me ASAP.
bump for help

There was an additional 20% off all clearance items at my local TRU. However, it was being announced over the PA that the additional discount was only good for another hour (reminded me of the old school K-Mart blue light specials) so not sure if this is at every TRU. I'm located in Northern Virginia. Any other CAGs in the area may want to check their local TRU. Oh, and all the clearance games but Blazing Angels 2 were kept behind the counter instead of out on the racks. I asked the guy working there about this and he said he hadn't had time to change the pricing and get them out on the shelf yet. Upside is that there are plenty of copies of most clearance games at that location.

Just picked up the following:

Dead Rising $7.98
Far Cry $4
Stranglehold $7.98
Shadowrun $7.98
Nighty-Nine Nights $7.98
Blazing Angels 2 $4

Whats the deal with Gamestop and Blockbuster? Can I transfer my credit from BB to GS? Or take cash from BB and they only give me 90% of the credit in cash? Can anything be done to get money over to Gamestop?
where are you guys finding $5 games? is it just b/c the bay area is more exp? the cheapest bins i saw had 9.98>7.98 games.
There are only a select few in the $5 range; Farcry, Splinter Cell 4, Prey, etc. They could be anywhere in your store's gaming dept so there's no real definite place. Try looking behind the glass and see if you can find them there (that's where I found mine) and then have the person ring the games up for you. They should come out to $5.
farcry at redwood city was 19.98 (at least so the big red clearance tag read)
It will likely scan as $5.

Ignore the price tags/cards for most of the clearance games. My experience has been that these are usually out-of-date. None of the games I purchased today (see 7 posts back) had the correct clearance price listed. The guy working there was cool and just did price checks for me.

Porter Ranch TRU had no signs about the additional 20% off clearance, and Jam Sessions was still ringing up at $5.00, so I forgot about even trying my price adjustment-- arguing about a sale that I'm the only one who knows anything about for $1 seemed like a lost cause. ;)

Yea, everyone has to understand that 99.9% of the tags for clearance items are not correct. Always, always, always scan the item to see the price. Trust me, there are way too many times where I have shocked employees by picking out games with $39.99 and $59.99 tags, only for them to ring up with $9.98 and $5.00 on the register

Picked up Jeanne D Arc and N3. I had 2 $3.00 off Birthday coupons that my nephew supplied me and both games were 5.28 each. Good Stuff.

If anyone can get an extra Dead Rising, I can paypal you the cost +$5. If there's anything you're looking for to trade, give me your wants and I'll look around for them.

Just got back from TRU (San Mateo, CA), no clearance section at all. Most of the listed games were nowhere to be found. Most interesting think I spotted was Parappa, but I passed.

Picked up the following:
Oblivion(PS3) $7.98
Jeanne D'Arc(PSP) $7.98
Prey(360) $4.00
Far Cry Ins(360) $4.00

No FF unfortunately, but otherwise a nice trip.

I'm willing to trade my copy of Silver Surfer Wii for two 360 games.

Any combination of FEAR, Forza 2, or Virtua Tennis 3 will do.

PM me.

I went back to toysrus and the guy actually help 3 copies of silver surfer instead of 2 :). The girl talking to the lady ringing me up was jealous as she didn't know the sale was going on lol. I will encourage everyone to bring their receipts back to get price adjustments on clearance games which i did.
