Wow, so far the first two fights have been really good.

The Ultimate Fighter guys have so far looked good. Quarry really beat the hell outta his opponent and Koscheck looked good, too.

Anyone else watching this?

Also, next week Ultimate Fight Night is coming on Spike. Gotta watch that!

UFC ain't the same without Tito Ortiz.

Yep, I've been watching. I love this stuff! I really enjoyed the UFC reality show on Spike and I'm totally excited that it's coming back for another season. :bouncy:

What the heck? When did he leave?

And when I think UFC, I still think of Gracie, Severyn, Frye, Shamrock and Kimo. I started watching UFC at UFC II, and I was hooked.

It's really good to see the sport come so far now.

Dana White booted him off the UFC and they didn't offer him a contract. Where you been? Don't you ever read the news about UFC?

I never really read about UFC at all. I haven't really been too big on the pay per views in the last several years, but I do try to rent them when they show up at the movie store.

Getting UFC on cable is a huge step in the right direction, though. I'm really excited about Saturday night!

Don't you read the news at their website? I never paid for pay per view once and I don't plan to in the future.

Why is the UFC not the same without Tito? He was overpayed, boring, and refused to fight the top guys time and time again.. And when he did fight the top guys he lost to two of them (Chuck and Randy) and had the most boring win of all time against Vitor.

Good to see this sport getting popular. I used to train all the time but had to quit when my life got busy.. This makes me want to get in there again.

Tito is one of the most entertaining fighters to see. Some fighters have their best and worst fights. Recent Tito fights was not entertaining at all. But you can't argue that fight against Randy wasn't entertaining. Some of the fights are becoming more boring.

GuilewasNK, I recommend you watch PRIDE and watch Wanderlei Silva fight. Most of his fights end up in KO.

I know this is a stretch on a video game message board, but if any of you guys are looking for somethign athletic to do I HIGHLY recommend checking out MMA/BJJ/etc. I've never experienced a workout like training in those sports. Good stuff.

Dude I've watched 1,000 fights and Tito is not one of the most entertaining fighters at all. Sure he was able to finish a bunch of guys who he outweighted/outclasses while ducking the top guys, but I got so sick of watching him take someone down and lay on top of them for 3 rounds. BORING. give me fighters who actually try to finish fights anyday.

Exciting: Minotauro, Silva, Fedor, Sakuraba, Sudo, Arlovski, etc.

Agreed, BJJ rules. Remember.. shrimpin aint easy.

His most entertaining fight was when he got dropped by Chuck. Tito talked so much trash going into the fight and fought an extremely dumb fight. He played right into Chuck's strength and lost because of it. Not a smart fight.

This is going back a way, but does anyone remember when Pat Smith fought that little white ninja from Texas in UFC 4 or 5?

Pat immediately took the guy down and proceeded to elbow his face until it looked more like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Tito ain't the only one that was booted off UFC. BJ Penn and Kimo were also booted from the show but I don't think he got his profile pulled off the site. Dana White booted a lot of entertaining fighters from UFC. There's more fighters but I can't remember on the top of my head.

The fight with Chuck didn't reach its full potential. Some people on the fighting forums were arguing that UFC is rigged.

Predictions?

Nathan Marquardt vs. Ivan Salaverry - Salaverry

Patrick Cote vs. Chris Leben - Very close, but I'll go with Leben.

Sam Hoger vs. Stephen Bonnar - Bonnar, but Hogar has a chance if he comes mentally ready.

Pete Sell vs. Nate Quarry - Quarry

Pete Spratt vs. Josh Koscheck - Spratt, but I hear Koscheck has really improved.

Mike Swick vs. Gideon Ray - Can't decide, two very tough guys. Swick is much bigger though.

Kenny Florian vs. Alex Karalexis - Two crappy fighters, they'll probably both be scared and dance around the ring for the first round before Florian gets a lucky knockout.

I am a almost total noob to the UFC scene but Koscheck seems really good.

Nathan Marquardt vs. Ivan Salaverry - Salaverry (Ivan is a monster)

Patrick Cote vs. Chris Leben - Cote

Sam Hoger vs. Stephen Bonnar - Bonnar

Pete Sell vs. Nate Quarry - Quarry

Pete Spratt vs. Josh Koscheck - Koscheck (I don't know a lot about Spratt, but Josh is a smart fighter and excellent wrestler.)

Mike Swick vs. Gideon Ray - Dunno.

Kenny Florian vs. Alex Karalexis - Dunno.

EDIT: I'm picking Cote to knock out Leben.
That was one pussy stoppage. The guy got rocked, but he was still aware and could have defended himself. Definitely shouldn't have been stopped.
I agree.

how about swick with the 22 second knockout?!?! we should make this into the UFC topic. i was thinking about making one the other day, but i wasnt sure how many fans there were around here

Good idea. I changed the title.

Swick was an absolute beast last night. He knocked the hell outta that guy, and what was even funnier was that he went after Herb Dean after getting beat down.

I really wanna see Swick and Leben go at it again. Swick almost knocked out Leben in their other fight, but Leben was able to finally get the K.O. Now, both fighters are more mature, and it'd be interesting as hell to see them go toe to toe again.

I was really dissapointed with how Ivan fought. The entire fight was pretty much a stalemate, but the other guy was more aggressive.

Overall, it was a pretty damn good show.
Badass win by Koschek!!!
He is a badass. He's actually been fun to watch.

I just watched the Bonnar/Griffin fight on Unleashed, and I gotta say, I think the decision was bullshit. Bonnar beat the ever-lovin' shit outta Griffin, and I don't see how they think he lost the fight.

Griffin did get a few take downs, but Bonnar got off several nice kicks and about two dozen huge bombs that rocked Forrest.

I was very disappointed to see it end that way, but that was the best UFC fight I've ever seen. It was a war, and both of those fighters are going to tear up UFC.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, aren't all the fighters from Ultimate Fighter undefeated against the UFC veterans?

That Mike Swick is a demon. That dude can throw some bombs.

What's the beef between Tito Ortiz and UFC/ Dana White? Apparently Dana White is holding a real grudge with Tito saying that he will never fight for the UFC and his products cant be endorsed by UFC fighters.

Team Punishment: might recuirt Rampage Jackson.
Can you believe that one guy wants to leave because there are cameras on him? What a bitch.
From the second I saw that guy talking into the camera saying what a great striker he was, I knew he was soft. I told my girlfriend tht he was a total candy-ass and he was going to be one of the first to go.

I can't believe I just watched the very first episode and three guys have already been eliminated. I can understand Kerry Schall with the torn miniscus, but the other two guys really were women.

Kenny Stevens lost 15 pounds then quit because he didn't want to make the last five pounds was a big disappointment. He had all the guys stay with him and help him, then just quit on them.

But what about the night before when he was throwing rocks at the sauna door? Man, they can sure get some weird dudes on the show.

I think Luke Cummo is going to surprise a bunch of people. He's that weird Taoist who sleeps with his head facing the north to get his Chi in synche with the Earth. He obliterated everyone else with the wall sit. He looked like he could've gone for hours. Those crazy dudes like him are the guys you gotta watch out for. You don't know what they'll do.
