Official WarHawk Discussion: **Patch 1.5/"Falling Star" OUT!**
Any one getting their ranks yet I havent seen anything on my profile it always says no ranked games played. Which I have played.
This will happen to me on occasion, but then I just try again and it works. It then displays info for me from 3 days ago, which is very annoying, because I've gotten a bunch of ribbons in game and they are not showing up. This is very frustrating, especially for a gamer that is not very good at the game, to not have those hard-earned (or luck-induced) awards not appearing when they should.

This had better be fixed soon, or I will have to go back to playing Bioshock for a while!

I was having problems too and I thought it was my connection so I rebooted my router and the same shit happen, NETWORK ERROR. This is fucking pathetic. I kept trying and it finally let me in.

Joining a rank game is a pain in the fucking butt(i imagine), why the hell didn't they copy Resistance's online? They need to fix the rank server shit, joining 9 games just for it to be FULL when it isn't is fucking bs.

Edit : Well I just came across this thread http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=warhawk&thread.id=80181
Anyways I did do this after I still couldn't get in after rebooting router. I went there to check if the update changed my NAT and it was the same.
I didn't think testing the connection actually solved the problem.

I was able to play a few matches late last night (2-4 AM est), but when I tried just a few moments ago, I'm getting that error again. No skin off my nuts either way as I usually play late- but its interesting.

Update coming "soon".

First off -- I want to let all of you know that, contrary to some of the posts here...the team was not sailing around, enjoying the labor day holiday while you all played and earned medals that were ultimately never awarded to you :)

We have been pretty quiet recently as we look to determine the root cause of some of the issues that some players are currently experiencing. Some items we have fixes for, some we are still working on -- probably not the exact response that you wanted to hear, but its at least a status update.

The three main issues that we are tracking are:
 • Stats and Ranking errors, delayed posting, missing stats.
 • "Connection Failed" or otherwise messed-up join game errors.
 • Network Drops/Disconnects (we have a fix for these and should be deployed in the next service window)
Our team here at Incognito along with our great support team in San Diego were, and continue to be, diligently working on these issues. I want to reassure everyone that while we *have* been quiet these last few days, it is NOT a sign that we are off on some tropical island somewhere...we are hard at work on the big issues.

I'm not going to spin it and say "oh....we just had soooo many players.....so successful...blah, blah, blah."

That's a bulls&*#$t PR answer. The fact of the matter is that, there were some unforeseen issues that occurred once we went live...plain and simple. From here on out, look for far more frequent updates from us...even if its bad news.

Lastly, while I appreciate everyone's excitement and feedback. I beg of you please don't call my office :)

My phone number was posted here and in a few other places and while I have had really good conversations with some of you, the team and I need to focus all of our attention on getting you great service...not going though 300 voicemails a day - I do hope you can understand.

I'll post update here as they become available.

And -- Yes this is Dylan from Incognito...I'm not sure why I'm showing up as "Junior"!!! I need to talk to somebody about that :)

The "update" is only a mild mention, maybe he has more for later.

yes...we have been getting a ton of reports on this...and its frustrating bug...for us but more importnatnly for players.

We're on it though -- I'll keep everyone posted.

The online feature is the game.. so I'm glad to hear that they're going to be diligent about making sure that online is running correctly.

Okay, the bad news is that I reached the limit on sending invites, in the East clan. The following names are signed up on Warhawk, but I cannot invite them now due to getting an error:
-snozzb3rry
-Orion_of_Chaos
-WatchdogXC

Hopefully I can get you in sometime, when the problem is fixed.
Good deal with the response-- I just tried again and can still not connect. I get to the usage policy and thats it.
Did you try turning the game off, then booting it back up again? I have issues in my apartment connecting sometimes, so I do that (usually 2-3 times) and it works.
It's nice to see that Incognito's on top of the Warhawk problems. Hopefully it's going to be a long wait for the fix.

More updates:

There will be a maintenance window from 5am to 7am PDT on Thursday to allow us to deploy a fix for the occasional/random player drops. During these player drops the community would see the total world-wide player count drop between 1000 and 1500 players -- clearly not good.

This problem will be resolved with this maintenance window.

We are now also tracking a new issue that some of you have been experiencing with simply not being able to go online with Warhawk at all. Some of you mentioned that you starting seeing the problem with the release of the new firmware 1.92 -- we have no proof of this yet but anecdotal evidence seems to suggest so.

I will continue to keep everyone posted on our progress.

We have a team here that is working on the stats issue right now. I have nothing concrete to report though and I'm not about to post a status update on untested speculation :)

@KILLREAPER -- the "room number problems" you are mentioning...are these the issues with a server that says 30 of 32 and then when you join it says "game full"....eventhough it STILL says 30 of 32?

If this is what you mean then, yes we're working on this one. If you mean something else, please elaborate so the team and I know what problems you are facing.

I suck at this game and now I'm going to ask for help. How do you get a target lock-on? In my week of playing the game, I've like a 9 to 1 death to kill ratio and have never killed anybody used a warhawk. Any advice would be helpful as I would hate to already give up on this game so soon? When all you do is die it's not very fun.

To lock on, just hold the L1 button down and it'll lock on to an enemy ship. If you keep holding it down when you have the swarm missiles, it'll lock more missiles onto your target. So you could have five locked onto one guy or one missile each locked on to five different ships.

Have you tried going to your network settings on your PS3 and run an internet connection test?

For those having the "Network Timeout" problem, Try to Exit the game, log out of the PSN, Log back in and then restart the game.

This has worked for me three times in a row now.
They still haven't mentioned anything about clan invite errors?
Yeah, tell me about that. I want it solved so I can invite more people.

finally got the game in the mail today, will be on later tonight hopefully some else will be 2

EDIT: can't get the mic to work tho. Can get it to connect to the ps3, but when i'm in the game i try pressing the blue button then using the L3 to talk and nothing happens. Anyone know about this?

I'm actually mildly interested in this game.

My question is this, and I'm hoping for some HONEST answers: is this game accessible and more importantly FUN for someone who will always be slightly below average at it even with practice?

At a certain point I walk away from games where I'm just a moving target. Plus this game doesn't have a single player campaign so... I'm just worried that it will be an expensive coaster.

I was very hype for this game, and I don't want to sway you away, but I'll be honest. I'm not the best, but I'm also usually not the worst. But in this game I find it hard to do much of anything but die since people always use the warhawk and the maps are so large that you'll see few people on the ground to fight. I wish there was an offline single player mode just like SW: Battlefront which is how the game is like, except with larger maps and warhawks, to help people learn the basics but that sadly isn't the case. I would say rent it if you can, otherwise I would save my money for something.

I'll admit I'm not all that great at the game (You could probably destroy me Thongsy. ;) ), but I've definitely gotten way better since I first place. It's mostly a matter of learning where items are on a map. From what I believe, you can see where everything is offline. If someone isn't too serious about winning (although they may be below average), there's a lot of fun to be had. I haven't had many issues dealing with idiots so far.

I do agree an offline tutorial might have been nice to help those out. Warhawk is still one of the more enjoyable multi-player experiences ever IMO and doesn't seem to get old.

If you want to play ground battles, I suggest giving "zones" a try. On most of the maps the majority are ground players. I know there's at least 2 maps where you need a warhawk to go to one zone to another. You can also "hitch" a ride and someone could possibly take you there.

Zonesis also good to figure out how to play the game and learning how to "dodge" the lock ons with your WH.

On another note, I kinda wished they added a map editor for this game. Would be fun to play user created maps. I also hope they add a "defend" type mode. I know Unreal 2k4 has it (assualt or onslaught, I forget) WEll here's to hoping in a future add-on/update.

Technically couldn't they just create a private server to learn the basics of gameplay before jumping into a player filled server? Though it obviously doesn't go well for everyone but I ended up doing it yesterday for about 15 minutes and adjusted the controls a bunch. I'll probably do it again today a little bit to refine it further for me and then jump into the fray sometime later tonight.

Im kinda disapointed in this game it just feels like a half ass version of battlefield. Im gonna keep playing and see if it gets better right now this game is nothing compared to the hype for it.

Yeah if you need practice with the controls, or even to study the maps, start a local game and run around by yourself. Not quite the same as single player, but it will let you do things without messing up your stats and get a feel for things.

I'd add that turning on the tips is a good idea for beginners, as it'll give you some quick info about new weapons you pick up or new vehicles you get into along with controls for that particular item.

Warhawk isn't that hard to get into, but some of the specifics that you'd expect a manual to cover just aren't in there.

I've accepted the fact that I suck ass at flying the Warhawks. For the most part, if I get in one, I'm guaranteed to die within 30 seconds. I'll have to try zones since CTF seems to get me killed A LOT from lurking Warhawks.

Heh, I remember being on the other day, and one guy on our side was being a prick, shooting all our warhawks everytime they spawned back with the AA missle turrets.
I don't think I ever saw Nam outside of his Warhawk until that last game. :bomb:
Yeah... I felt bad blowing you up.
At least you let me ride on your Warhawk.

It's always nice to snipe and be able to hear the other team scheming to get back at you.
Lol I saw you posted up on that hill in one round.

Also you can have 2 people in a warhawk, just hit square to get in so you don't have to ride- and fall to your death- next time. :)

I kept killing that stupid FinalFantasyFan over and over since he went to the same spot after the first kill. Then I killed that Sniper_Wolf guy, which is why he kept coming after for the next few games. I pissed him off pretty good.

That's the sign that I didn't know that. I remember the next time you bob your ship up and down in front of me.

Sniper_Wolf, I think I was picking on him some too. Ah.... Good times!

I'll try to have my mic working next so people will know what I am doing when I belly flop near them!

lol, this game is just to easy. I'm always on the top 5. I pretty much ownz in ground battles :p
Set your character sensitivity to 30 = OWNAGE!!!

Not sure if you all heard, but this explains as to why there is no single player and why the game isn't more massive.
Hey-

I saw you have posted some about Warhawk. I'm a former incognito employee. I've been watching from the sidelines for some time now about the debacle over the network issues and I've wanted to let someone know the truth about the problems but I don't want to post directly into a forum.

Starting about 8 months ago the entire art staff and almost all of the programmers, (including every single network programmer,) walked out of Incognito. Scott Campbell took about 12-15 people and started Eat, Sleep, Play, and the rest, (about 30 people,) went primarily to Salt Lake City's Disney Studio. As of today the only people left at Incognito are Dylan Jobe, Bruce Woodward, Evan Christiansen, Lars Devore, John Crocker, and Nate Robins. Three are programmers and two are animators. Kirk Baum, the lead network programmer walked out about one week before they went gold. About a year ago there were close to 70 employees there. As you could guess, they have a significant problem on their hands.

Anyway, so you know I'm legit you can check my web site- edited. If you want to email me through there I'll verify my identity.

I don't care if this information gets posted, but I'd really appreciate it if you don't use my name. Legally there is nothing wrong with me giving this information but it would certainly bother many people who's path I'm likely to cross again.

I'm actually getting better now. The game gets much more fun when you practice. Funny though...Wombat is my "most killed" opponent in my stats. Serves him right for bagging on a great game! His kill to death ratio is pitiful atm.

How it is when the games just come out. Give people a little while to get used the the game...
Was that stats chart (somewhere in your profile) always there??
I don't remember it, but I love it. I spent about 20 minutes last night looking through all of my stats. Very cool!

Some of these people are just stupid. I was in the Destroyed Capital map in one of the buildings across from that middle capital building that both sides fight over, and since I was alone, I grabbed the land mines and put two on the flag and two near the nearby entrances. I don't know how many I kept killing with that same trick, but it was hilarious each and every single time.

How's everybody doing on ranks, medals, badges, and ribbons?

i was somehow a recruit again for the brief 30 seconds i was on yesterday. i also did not get any ribbons i earned on the 6th. I am currently unable to get on as i am one of the multitude (check the Playstation boards) that is have a PSN login error. i can get online with the ps3 just not login in.

SIGH.......
