I tried to buy it off of him too, he sent me the code a couple days ago and get an error, thought it was from a different region but after trying it with different regions and different payment methods I could not get it to work. Such a strange error too, it doesn't say redeemed or invalid code.

try searching this thread. I can recall vaguely that it was mentioned and someone found a solution

 
I was involved in the mps issue. That was when attempting to redeem multiple codes back to back. In that scenario I had to either log out after each redemption, enter them from a private browsing session or clear my cache/cookies after each redemption. It was lame, but certainly not an inability to redeem a single code.

Those 2100 Microsoft Points are most likely region locked.

Microsoft Points are still redeemable now, but they need to match the country (or region) where your account was originally registered. Switching your account region on Xbox.com or Xbox One to add them to a foreign wallet doesn't work (except if it's done between Eurozone countries). US Points will only redeem and convert to USD on US accounts, while EU Points will convert to the local currency (Euro/GBP/etc.) on any EU-based account.

I tried redeeming that code for a week or two. Try logging out then back in on Xbox.com or something else crimson suggested. Those are the only things I didn't try. I contacted customer support and they gave me a BS response of there is currently a problem redeeming codes and once technicians fix it they'd email me. I know there wasn't an error with redeeming codes because a few hours earlier I redeemed 20 $5 codes no problem. When they emailed me that it was fixed it still didn't work and they didn't respond. I read a few people saying if you get a good rep or keep contacting them they'll send you a new code. I don't know if they'd care enough to check codes with previous requests, I just told them a friend gave me the code.
