I understood what he was saying, I just found the way he phrased it to be funny.
you wernt the poster talking about dumping gas on the sidewalk and filling your car when it was on F.

I sort of remember bush saying the "don't use gas" thing. He was basically telling people to conserve gas, try to use as little as possible. Don't go out and horde it (people lining up to fill up their tanks, though they would normally put 10 in), try to use less gas in your home, and try not to take so many leisure or unnecessary drives.
That is what Bush meant. It isn't what he said.

Early in the Bush II presidency, I remember a joke on SNL during weekend update.

It was delivered by Tina Fey and something to the effect of ...

Tony Blair will be visiting the White House this week.

To prepare for the Prime Minister's arrival, President Bush plans to learn a few English words.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I forgot my metatags.

As far as nitpicking, it's fair to scrutinize the most powerful man in the world.

I bet Bush worries about Chechen rebels invading Atlanta.

For those of you who didn't get that joke, here's a link:
Hmm. That was about half as funny as an appendectomy.
Is the Bush joke funnier without the word 'when'?

Edit: In case somebody thinks I'm trying to fuel a flame war, I'm not.

The bigger problem is that Bush is being myopic.

I could get some long-winded rant about how Bush could focus the US on avoiding situations like fuel costs jumping 20% overnight, but CAG isn't the place and he didn't do anything substantial last year when gas prices jumped 30 cents (~20 percent) overnight due to a string to Gulf Coast hurricanes.

This morning gas was $3.19 across the street from my house here in northern KY, it went up $.10 since I went to work last night. A couple coworkers who drive from Indiana said it's $3.69 a gallon there for premium and thats the only option because all the stations in town are "out" of regular..........
Don't waste gas.
Which is why the federal government gives larger tax subsidies the less efficient your SUV is.
Which is why the federal government gives larger tax subsidies the less efficient your SUV is.
I'm still laughing about the multi-million dollar subsidies given to big oil companies with the recent transportation bill. With record-breaking profits last year, I don't understand how these corporations need any government handouts.

If you have a Sam's Club Card it might be worth going to see how much their gas station is. Its the cheapest in my area at about $2.90 for unleaded.

got to love how wholesale price for unleaded went back to 2.22 down 60+ cents from the high YET the price at the pump is as high when the price was 2.88
I can go without AC in my truck for a while. I'll just double up on the anti-perspirant.
The AC doesn't affect your gas mileage.
The AC doesn't affect your gas mileage.
yes it does my friend, yes it does

not as much for newer model cars but is still does

i'm a driver in a hot hot place, i should know

should also find a new job too..
question: if gasoline supplies are limited, why are we still have nascar and indycar to burn up all of the premium gas?
You got a point there.

Someone's killing a fat hog.... 2.93 regular... I should invent an engine that runs on seawater just to screw the oil tycoons! In my free time that is....

you know whats amazing.....gas futures are going down.....oil futures down....yet gas prices keep climbing.....talk about big oil fucking over the working class......gotta love this country.
question: if gasoline supplies are limited, why are we still have nascar and indycar to burn up all of the premium gas?
The amount that a few hundred to a few thousand race cars use (only a few days a month) is so insignificant compared to tens of millions of civilian, military, and government vehicles and aircraft used daily.
Some places in Buffalo are nearing $4. Damn.
Yeah my friends there are paying $3.80ish.

Another just got back from Laredo, Tx and he was paying $3.75ish there...

It's $3 in Austin so I can't complain.
sucks for those people who has a hummer
im not sure if youve read the thread or not, but for various socioeconomic reasons, it sucks for everybody
sucks for those people who has a hummer
Aww, poor guys. First they get their behemoth all banged up because they can't fit in standard parking spaces and now it costs 100 bucks to fill up.

Nah, I'd really say it sucks more for the rest of us that try to keep efficient and do what we can to reduce fuel consumption, but have to pay $3.40 a gallon anyway.

On Cold Pizza this morning I heard the answer. First, One company named Sonoco gives NASCAR gas for free. Two, It's Racing fuel so we can't use it anyway. Three, NASCAR has in the past, maybe in the future, cut races to save fuel.

Cnn had an oil analyst on last night....Aaron Brown asked if gas was going up due to supply and demand and the guy said not really......so Aaron goes why is the price going up then and whos making the money, is big oil making more money of this. This guy said yes big oil is making more profit and he said its just the way it works anymore. Wow that is just crazy to think that we are gonna allow these oil companies to keep fucking us over because they can just get away with it. This guy also said when the gas prices go back down to 2.70 or so everyone will be happy......WTF a few years ago I paid 1.60 a gallon for gas and Im gonna be happy with 2.80. fuck YOU BIG OIL AND fuck YOU BUSH

They're conditioning the American public to think $2.70 is acceptable. Two fucking dollars a gallon is not acceptable! Not with the outlandish profits the oil companies are making off what has become a necessity for many Americans.
