These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Here are the previous GS TIV Threads: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the EDGE card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
Playstation 2: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller (Must be a DualShock2) *Fat unit requires either back cover or network adapter*
GameCube: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above. They will not, however, take RROD 360 consoles. There may be stores that still do it, but official policy is to not take them in.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your EDGE card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

Ah yes I love the game days sales as there is at least 3 good titles to get from them for nice prices. I still have my borderlands goty I got from it last year that's still in my backlog lol.

That's crazy the TIV is still $23 for Batman: AC.

Does anyone know if the deal to get ME:3 with an extra 30% trade-in value is still valid? I know sometimes Gamestop has a deal to get a new copy of the game with some trade-in deal the week after the game comes out.

Well, you're getting the extra $10.00 for the 3 trade offer, but I think there're at least a few people who would've given you $25.00 for each of those two games. I know, I know...convenience. But, you probably are the only one trading them in to Gstop.:lol:
 
Lol, made sure all the Vita games i got had a lot of replay value/length. So the only one i traded so far was Little Deviants (Like the same day i got it lol)

I acually stacked the card with the re operation raccon city preorder and got 20 for each vita game. I also down a pre order for ass creed 3 to get that sweet steel book (first steel book case ive ever owned for a game).
 
Was in a GS today and had them look up these two.
Batman Arkham City (xbox) is still holding at $23 (base)
Mass effect 3 (xbox) was $25 base, although they'll give $30 as part of a promotion they are running through 4/4

Not everyone likes going through all those hassles (And risks), of someplace like that.

As far as Gamestop goes, i agree there are better easier deals. (Namely Best Buy for 35-37.50 trade in). Either way, its their choice

Really? Like what? Kid Icarus and more of the same Mario stuff? I have seen the entire line-up moving forward and there was nothing that I could see that I wanted to play. If a miracle occurs, and something worthwhile comes out, and they re-release a better version of the hardware, I will just pick up another one.

They have used Uncharted at the 3 Gamestops by my house. I think a lot of people didn't care about going back and getting all the photos/treasure.

I, like many others, would gladly take the $15 hit to not have to deal with people and general BS of Craigslist. I think of it as a convenience fee. I'd also pay $15 to not see this thread consistently full of posts uselessly hassling the people who choose to do business with Gamestop, but that's another matter.

I would love for the Wii U to blow people away at E3. With the news that the next XBOX isn't going to debut at E3 or "anytime soon" according to Microsoft, and me sitting on $950 credit to Gamestop and no desire at all to own a Vita or 3DS, I need to fucking spend it on something.

Seriously, I think Nintendo games are great too, but whenever I play one, I'm always like, "Aren't I a little too old for this?" I picked up Mario Galaxy 2 and just can't get into it despite recognizing that it's a good game.

Couldn't have called him out better myself. Honestly the 3DS is an okay system. I got 2 of them for my boys, but mostly for durability as the cartridges were a better option to the previous UMD format. Plus it's a great "kids" system. Even then they only play it when I won't let them use my Vita, phone, or iPad.

I was not talking anything bad about Vita and I may get one down the line, but clearly more support is going in the way of 3DS. What I should of said was, if he can't find anything good on 3DS, what will make him hold on to the Vita?

Also thinking you're too "old" for Nintendo is ridiculous thinking.

Hey, I owned all the systems from last generation, but I'll be the first to admit that I was a Dreamcast fanboy. There's nothing wrong with favoring one system over another. (I do think it's interesting that Dreamcast and Wii were so similar, and the similarities continue with Wii U's screen-in-a-controller like Dreamcast's VMU.)

As far as the 3DS goes, it has to be one of Nintendo's biggest disappointments since Gamecube. Remember that it launched at $249.99 and it dropped so much so quickly. It cannot compare to the quality of the original DS's library (one of my favorite systems), and much of the excitement for Vita right now is that it is console-quality, so that probably appeals to many people who aren't impressed with DS anymore. Obviously, if Mario and Zelda rank among your top franchises, it's not like you have any other choice.

The 3DS had a rough start no doubt but it's starting to pick up quickly. I think getting rid of it would be too soon since E3 is right around the corner and there are new games to be announced there and the same thing goes for the Vita as well. But there are clearly plenty of choices other than Mario and Zelda.

Sometimes the earliest 1-2 copies of a game traded in are from the managers if they get the game for free. Many GS managers aren't what we would call gamers and even if they do play games, will only play a limted range of games depending on their sex so if they get a game like ME they don't want for free they can't sell it on Amazon/EBay/CL or get fired but are allowed to trade it.

Yeah.. I've known this for awhile. Slipped my mind, but sadly you know there are people out there that will trade in new releases "just because".

Someone traded in a :360: ME3 CE (Just the game discs) yesterday.

Also had someone trade in a :ps3: ME3 (Reg) about a week ago. Didnt even use the online code. He said his GF bought it for him, he didnt like it, so he traded it in for something else.

And it was for sale? My Gamestop tells me they have to hold trade-ins for 14 days before they can put it on the shelf.

Yes, I sold it today. Not sure if there are different state laws where you live, but in SoCal, we can sell it once it's traded in.

it's not ridiculous when you honestly feel like the games aren't as mature or dumb downed versions compared to other systems. Sorry but there is more truth to that statement than you clearly admit. Reason why the Wii is crashing hard after being a huge seller early. The games in the end are not up to par with other consoles/PC.
 
I got the CE ME3 disc sent to me last Sat for 1000pts on Goozex. I sent someone a $5 BB RAGE and got a 1000pts earlier that week. He shoots ...he scores!

Just curious, did you get the metal case, too?
 
Hmm I must have missed it somewhere, but didnt someone post a trade value for the Vita 4GB Mem Card? If so how much was it? Thinking about getting the starter pack but then trading in the useless memory card ha.
