WHEN REPORTING TRADE-IN VALUES PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

First post contains promo information & useful information and frequently asked questions. Second post has the values for games/hardware for Microsoft devices. Third post has the values for games/hardware for Nintendo consoles and the fourth post has the values for Nintendo handhelds. WHEN POSTING VALUES:

Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

PART 1: So good news and bad news at Gamestop. Good news: ALL GS locations in the US are getting wi-fi this week! Not sure if they are open access points or closed. Also don't know if all the locations are getting the same connection like ATT Wi-Fi or if it varies by locale (ATT/Verizon/Comcast/Time Warner/Charter, etc.)

Bad news: There are two reasons for this. One, systems can now be tested to see if they are banned from XBox Live I believe, since you could do an online connection test and that touches XBox Live. But the 2nd reason that's more imminent; if you buy a PS4/XB1 and don't have internet access, Gamestop will hookup your system to download the Day 1 patch. Depending on speed of the GS connection and size of the files, this could greatly slow down the lines at launch and take up lots of employees time at the store post launch taking up 1 of each stores 2-3 registers.

Found out about this at the CoD launch so just wanted to pass the info along.

PART 2: So bad news on the Gamestop Wi-Fi situation:

1. The Wi-Fi is locked down with the password setup by each individual store manager but even if you got ahold of it ...

2. Everything someone would want to go to in a browser from gaming sites, to YouTube, to even news sites like cnn, foxnews, etc. are all blocked. Trying to access them gives you a blocked message from the firewall that's setup. Twitter/Facebook iOS apps worked but NFL Mobile and others w/video did not as they timed out. Don't use the YT app (just use the mobile site) so didn't try that. And even that doesn't matter because ...

3. It's as slow as molasses compared to 4G LTE or anything like Boingo, ATT, or any of the other public access points. So if you get behind a bunch of people w/o net access I feel sorry for you and I dread these launches now given the area I live in and our customer base's general lack of net access ...

PART 3: So GS has handed down a memo I'm sure is also going to apply for XB1 in that they count Friday as a pickup day so any PS4 not picked up before close of business on Saturday, Nov. 16 or any XB1 not picked up before Saturday, Nov. 23 is available first come, first serve to customers on Sunday the 17th or Sunday the 24th.

Anyone who has not picked up their system by mid-Saturday will be getting a call from one of the store's keyholders to find out what's up.

Your money won't disappear from the preorder system but that PS4/XB1 will be sold to someone else. You will be told you can call the store when you have acquired the money to pay it off and the next system that comes in after that call will be held for you for another 48 hours.

PART 4: So the info on the GS inTRAnet site I saw today says XB1 preorders can also get the 90% bonus trade on systems tomorrow if they want, although I'm sure there will be an event the following Sunday as well.

There is a SKU employees have to enter/scan to boost the trade. There was a sheet provided for the stores to print out to show what the full value of every system (including Ouya) would get base, w/30%, and with 90%.

The final part is YMMV but my store manager is letting any qualifying preorder customer who has traded their system in the last 30 days and still has their receipt to do a return/retrade to get the extra credit. YMMV on that of course.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

Off topic but I want to cancel my pre-order for FFXHD. Problem is it's at a store that is 1 hour away (I'm home for the holidays). I know I can cancel it at any store by having them put the credit on a gift card. Wondering if I can get cash back or just the gift card.

If anything I'm going to buy something worth $40 in store and just return it immediately.

 
Is this true? From what I have heard at multiple Gamestops is that I have to go to the Gamestop that I made the pre-order at and cancel my pre-order from there.
I great lie they tell you so they don't have a cancellation on their account. It looks bad on them so they tell you to go to the store you pre-ordered it from. That and it takes time to get the money onto a gift card (about 10 - 15 minutes depending on if both stores are busy or not).

Jeez, that's fuck ed up. I moved and have been waiting on visiting my family to get my credit back from a pre-order I made a while back. Thanks for the heads up on this.

A bit of a trade-in amateur around these parts but I've got my old 40GB PS3 and Batman: Arkham Origins and Last of Us that I wanted to trade in to offset a bit of the money I just popped down for a Super Slim a few days ago.

Was wondering if I'd be best off doing it now or should I wait for some kind of promotion or something?  How often do their trading promotions change up?

Ended up not trading because the Trade 2 didn't activate. Not sure if she scanned the Marvel game or keyed it in, but that seems low for something they sell for $45, and I can easily sell for close to that. I may try again at a different store next week, that one is notorious for hiring the incapable.

With Payday 2 removed from Trade 2 are there any other good flips? With any of the new games added to the list? I noticed that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 xbox 360 is a good flip ($12.99 used @ Best Buy). Any others I missed?

Gamestop never fails. Went to GS to cancel my FFXHD pre-order from another store. I know the two employees there were new so I gave them the benefit of the situation. I just told them what they needed to do in order to get my money back. Both of them didn't want to risk it so I talked to the manager who knew exactly what I wanted to do and had no problem cancelling the pre-order.

We called the other store to have them put my credit on a gift card. First the guy said we can't do cancellations. Told him I know he can and than told him what to do. He tried to play dumb saying that's not possible (he's the manager so I know he knows). After finally deciding to do it, he told me my pre-order wasn't under my account. I only have one account... Told him I confirmed it was under that account yesterday. He "found it" and cancelled it.

They couldn't give me cash from the gift card so I brought Pokemon Y (same price as FFXHD) and immediately returned it for cash.

Next time you want to do a cancellation from another store and they say they can't do it, just explain to them they need to put it on a gift card, write down the gift card information at the store you are at, buy something of equal value at the store you are in, and do a return for cash.

They'll try to play dumb though. I know cancellations are bad but don't try to hold my money for ransom. 

 
Are games with different barcodes a problem for returns on new games? I accidentally bought and opened GT6 last for $40 but Best Buy now has it for less because of GCU. However, the barcode number is different because Gamestop's is the Anniversary Edition.

Can I return a regular GT6 from Best Buy with different barcode number or will their computer scan read it as an invalid return because it isn't the Anniversary Edition?

Ugh why did I have to open it as soon as I bought it :whistle2:(

I just ordered a couple copies of Tales of Vesperia for X 360 from the Gohasting sale. They were $11.xx each and are on the trade 2 list.

Probably trade my Nexus 7 in now. $71 Feels like crap since I payed $250 on Xmas last year but they're not going for much more on Ebay. Why must tech drop so fast in value. :wall:

Would probably work if you got an unaware employee, since I think the Bday coupons have been stacking fine with other offers/coupons. Although the fine print does state against it.

Man, I am so ticked off right now at the GS I visited tonight (one I don't usually visit)--I traded in an adapter in the hopes of getting this 30% extra, but after the employee added the Infamous preorder, it didn't bump the value up and she said it was because "accessories aren't eligible for the 30% extra". I didn't have the time to argue (and I hadn't seen this post beforehand with accessories explicitly mentioned) since I had other errands to run, and I lost out on $7.20 because of it!

Alright, ill try it vigilante and report back. My store just scans anything I hand them.
Might be worth trying it when the b2g1 free sale is going on later this week. I don't think you will have a issue. I know i have had 3 coupons scanned in one transaction with no problem. But every once and a while you will get that GS employee who goes by the rules as if there life depended on it.

Wait, is there a confirmed B2G1 sale happening this week? I saw the thread about the ad in Puerto Rico, but I didn't think it was 100% confirmed for the US.

EDIT: I found the new weekly ad here, and it doesn't mention a B2G1 on either page--it only shows a $10 bonus for trading in any :ps4: or :xb1: games.

Power trades toward specific games ALWAYS have to have the coupon barcode from the advertising booklet scanned unless its for a game that's already released.

I thought that was the case, but when I asked the employee, she just said it would have automatically applied.

Of all the days I choose to not be pushy and ask her to scan the barcode anyway, it had to be this one... :bomb:

I'm not really sure if I should do anything as a result of that experience--should I:

1) Submit a negative survey detailing how the employee wasn't aware of the promotion details and thus deprived me of additional credit?

2) Go back at a later date for a different reason and, assuming I get the same employee, cancel the preorder while I'm there (yeah, I know this option is very petty/mean-spirited)?

3) Do nothing, suck up the "loss" (though I still profited), and ensure it never happens again?

4) Some combination of the above?

Either way, I need to do something about that Infamous preorder, since I don't usually visit that GS and I'd rather get it from BBY thanks to GCU. I also don't really want to fulfill the preorder then return it later because that might look suspicious. :whistle2:k

GS has been asking for my ID on all trades AND inputting it into the computer. So for those of you with multiple/family accounts, you won't be able to "hide" as it appears they track your trades by your ID#/DL# - this is even if the account is under another person's name!

I had hit my trade in limit for "cash trades" on my account (probably after I traded an ipad mini and ipad4 in October) in addition to the lots of game trades over the course of the year. I never even take cash trades either...but that's what the message says.

Now today I used my wife's account to do a trade 2 and the dude updated the information on her account with mine and I was still flagged for having passed the trade limit. Because I am on the other end of the state right now, they didn't give me any trouble and let the trade through since I've never traded at this store before.

Just a word to the wise.

As I said, I was in somewhat of a rush, so I didn't have time to speak with her manager, and I'm not going to be near any GS locations until this weekend.

I had hit my trade in limit for "cash trades" on my account (probably after I traded an ipad mini and ipad4 in October) in addition to the lots of game trades over the course of the year. I never even take cash trades either...but that's what the message says.

Now today I used my wife's account to do a trade 2 and the dude updated the information on her account with mine and I was still flagged for having passed the trade limit. Because I am on the other end of the state right now, they didn't give me any trouble and let the trade through since I've never traded at this store before.

Just a word to the wise.
It's possible that specific store checks ID. Most stores don't but they technically are supposed to check if you're the proper age requirement to do trades. At least in my experience being in CA, stores require you to be 18 to be able to trade and every now and then they ask for my ID but then again I've never seen any employee enter my DL info in there.

Damn no promo for buying something preowned. I don't buy games new from GS because of BB GCU unless its way cheaper than BB. That sucks that someone has to get a preorder cancelation after I trade towards that item.

Actually if people are planning on not having to deal with canceling pre-orders i will suggest reserving the Titan fall collectors edition as its $250.  You could easily build credit on  it for the 30% for a bit then cancel it.

Anyone know what acbf for xone is getting with the extra 10?
Was just there a few minutes ago, ACBF was $20 before the bonus. Didn't say so in the ad, but the $10 extra is only if you are trading toward used games. Kinda pissed me off since they didn't have any used xbox one games and I wasted my time to go there.

 
Quick question,  I have a copy of ACBF for X one that i plan on trading most likely to BB as they give a little more value.  I have the collectors edition that is coming in a few days.  I guess my question is if i trade my current copy that i have played i won't have any issues playing the other copy i am getting on my X one will i?

Can you explain this a little more? I'm not sure I understand. What's the difference between putting credit on a new 60 dollar game or the 250 dollar game you was talking about.

Has anyone ever received a E-rewards giftcard and it had a zero balance. I tried to use mine the other day and it has a zero balance. I have looked through my purchase history and can't find where it was used. I don't know if I have gone crazy or if it came with a zero balance.

If you plan on trading in a lot for the 30% bonus i(which can only be on select preorders) I just recommend getting the Titan Fall collectors edition because you can put more credit on it because its $250. It would less of a headache to cancel one $250 pre-order then 4 or 5 $60 pre-orders. I guess another thing is your local gamestop might be more happy to just cancel one pre-order then 4 to 5 pre-orders
