Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - Out and About All Skanky and Such

Not knowing if I necessarily needed to buy a duplicate copy of the game in English, I threw this on my Gamefly queue a while ago. Apparently I was the first, because they shipped it to me. Anyway, their "Keep It" price is only $24.99. I might just spring for it through them - I know I will be the first one to have the disc and they just sent me a $5 coupon.

not a too bad of price. I could see this game dipping down to 20 but not for months.

I absolutely agree with Rocko.
He never said that this game is going to be bad, or suck.

I have played DDR religiously on my 360. I have Universe 1 and 2. They look and sound amazing. DDR is DDR, regardless of what version you play (of course, certain games have awful tracks..)

I recently picked up Hottest Party 2 for Wii. It looks ridiculous. I know graphics do not make a game..especially a game like DDR. But seeing DDR with great looking graphics all the time.. to.. that..well it made the game just kinda unremarkable. It's still a decent DDR game, but, it's hard to really appreciate it when I've seen better.

But then again, this is the Wii forum and I'll get flamed for mentioning graphics.

I think the same thing will happen with this game. I'd like to play this FIRST, then the 360 one..but it's not in the right order

You sure have poured on the attention whore/drama queen act a lot lately.

I apologize.
I shall label all my posts with this now

You should be flamed for bringing up graphics whoring in reference to a game that is mostly music and arrows.

I think you kind of missed the point.

I did not miss the point. I was ignoring it to point out the ridiculousness of anyone bringing up graphics in a game like DDR.

But whatever, continue your discussion. ;)

I thought the release date on this was Tuesday, February 10, but no stores near me (Best Buy, Gamestop & Wal-mart) have it. Best Buy's website lists today as the release date, yet it doesn't show as being available in stores in my area. What's the deal?

There's a pretty good chance a lot of retailers didn't order many or any of this. There are four words in the title and each of them independently are trigger words for either games that don't sell much or games that may offend some moral sensibility.

Onechanbara: for the anime crowd
Bikini: for the perverted crowd
Zombie: for the RE/L4D/sadistic crowd
Slayers: for the button-mashing crowd

Sounds like a best-seller.

I got it at gamestop today.. 29.99 for co-op gameplay is a deal

Ign's review was a 69/100 but meh.. I'm not much for IGN personally. I'd read other game websites. They did like the graphics for a wii game.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/953/953940p1.html

Anyways I'm going to play it later tonight and tell you guys about the game. If your curious or sitting on the fence...

I think it's neat that D3 promotes a first and second game on two platforms.... anyways...

Got my Gamefly copy today. No surprise, it's exactly the same as the Japanese version with less Japanese and more English, so my impressions still apply. For $20 I think I will probably keep it. I love it that much.

My finance just got me this game for Valentines day, after she heard me talking about Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ for this DS.

Well I've been playing this game for a while and it's pretty awesome. There's tons of fun zombie killing action for $30. I love it and recommend it.
3.0 on Gamespot. Interesting title in the URL: must be the Japanese one.
Wow. There seems to be a distinct disconnect between the GS reviewer and the GS readers. Also with the other two reviews they list.

In general there is a large disconnect between the elitist media people on large sites like Gamespot and gamers. I like it when they show how gamers rate a game because more often than not it is radically different than the "pro" reviews.

Besides the fact that there is a general distaste for the Wii and it's games among the elitist media there is no doubt in my mind that this guy never gave the game a chance. He likely already hated the game before ever playing it and only sought to confirm his hatred by twisted everything the game offers into something negative to confirm is opinion.

He says the game is repetative. Which hack'n slash game isn't?

He says there is little difference between the playable characters. Yet one of them has wrestling moves, another long range gun attacks. That's little difference?

He says the combat is bland, simplistic and mindless. Yet there are regular combos, ectasy combos, two fighting styles per character, a rage mode and special moves.

These elitist people always give themselves away, and this guy does it at the end when he says the game isn't "engaging". That's elitist speak for this isn't a AAA big budget, big company game so It's beneath me and isn't worth my time.

The game is very repetitive, but I am having fun with it so far. I guess some of the reviewers went into it thinking it was going to be something that it is not trying to be.

While it does get repetitive after awhile, I still find it worthy of the $30 price tag. There is replay value to be had out of it, and it does make for a nice co-op play when you are just looking to kill some time without getting horribly invested.

I love how the Japanese translated over into this port. "Point get!" cracks me up every single time I see it.

Hmm, I usually can rely on the Wii crowd of this board to know if a game is worth getting or not. I see that this generated little to no buzz after release.. does anyone still recommend/

I don't know what you like, but if you approach the game from the mindset that this is a budget title that is not trying to be DMC I think you may enjoy it. Going up levels is hard and there is a lot of stuff to unlock so there is plenty to do.

There is a ton of stuff to unlock, and my impressions from here http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5484893&postcount=35 still apply. I highly recommend this game as long as (like Scrubking mentioned) you know what you're getting into. I don't see it being hampered by the "budget title" label as much as others either. It's a long game with a lot of nice details and lots and lots of zombies.

I see. As long as it accomplishes what it set out to do then it should be enjoyable. Sometimes the AAA games are trying to do too much and lose their identity (and fun) in the process. Some well done mindless hack'n'slash is my cup of tea when I'm in the mood.

I guess I just had to ask because beyond a few posts saying it's cool around release date, the thread has all but died immediately after. I changed my mind on HotD:Overkill after I saw people still commenting on it even after it's been out a while. I'll have to take into perspective that this is more of a niche market than what HotD has going for it.

Also keep in mind that pretty much every game that gets a thread here will go on for pages prior to a game's realease and then immediately die once the game is out. Hype and speculation are much more exciting than actual games.

More like:
-new trailer
-new screens
-obligatory "480p", "is gameplay good?" and "graphix sux/rox" posts
-game is released
-rage against slow shipping/low stock/high price/stupid reviewers
-thread dies a slow death, only to be resurrected months later when someone grabs it from a bargain bin/sale

he predicted I would come and I have. I didn't grab it from the bargain bin but from my local library. It started out pretty cool. I'll be honest and say right off the bat soon as I get some spare cash I'll probably pick it up. It's probably cheap now. Anyway I can't figure out the controls. Not only is the manual laughable, the in game tutorial is weak and there are no FAQs out there for the NA version. I like what I see but I do have a gameplay question(s):

The "Red Mist Zombies" how the blazes do you kill these guys? I need some sort of special attack but I can't figure out what kind of attack to use or how to activate it.

When your character gets covered in blood they go into overdrive? automatically? which drains health? until you die? and you can't turn it off? Unless you find a statue? or use the statue piece (item)? Do I have this right? it seems kinda annoying as I couldn't kill the zombie went into overdrive and died (multiple times) trying to find out how to kill him and trying to find a statue.

I think if I can figure out those two things the game is going to be a must buy fun good time.

After 10 seconds of searching GameFAQs: so do blood mist zombies die? Also the FAQ answers your other question.

well dude i don't read the GameFAQs boards. that's like saying if you really need $20 you can find some in this barrel of raw sewage. I mean yeah there's occasionally a diamond in there but you have to sift thru so much trash.

anyway my two points are 1) the GF boards are far from an obvious choice and 2) thanks. in spite of your opinion of my question you provided an answer and it is useful.

peace and I'm out till I get my own copy.

Is it somehwat like hunter the reckoning was then..?

I have yet to view videos (damn work) but I assume top down (or 3/4) with at leas two player action?

dude i loved Hunter:TR. I should get that for my cube later. I have three nephews two of which I could use for some sweet sweet co-op gauntlet like action.

OBZS is closer to over the shoulder than top down or three-quarters. it's actually more behind the back.
here's a good one of what you'll be seeing most of the time ( I speak from 3 hours of experience)
