Original KMART Clearance Thread Resurrected!! A few NEW TITLES ADDED! Updated 1/31/07

I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

Oh you're missing out! I had a real winner at Circuit City a few months ago, I handed him an Urbz and asked him to price check it., this was the day after some new reported price drops so I just wanted to confirm they were in effect. Of course he looked at the price sticker on the front and said "This is 29.99, Sir". Yeah, like I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT PRICE STICKER MYSELF!!! I said how about you ring it up and see what the computer says, and obviously irritated, did it anyway, and you could see his brain almost melting when he saw $3.96 on the screen. He went a little nutty and said "This can't be right, it must be a mistake!" and called over his supervisor, who took one look at it and said, if it rings up at 3.96, then its 3.96.

Owning a CC employee...priceless. (No offense to Neocisco and our other CC CAGs in here of course!)

They usually don't restock. Sometimes stores add new games to their clearances but it depends on the store.

It's always worth it to check the same store once in a while if you are in the area even if the last time you were there they had nothing or not too many games. I went to a Sears last month where an employee said they had a few games in the back that were just brought out and I got some games I had never seen at that store before.

Sigh, i love how employees always assume the sticker price is the price that is going to scan up in the register..

I remember another time at target, when i was purchasing a lone copy of meteos that had been sitting in the display case unmarked for weeks, it finally dropped to 7.98 when i decided to bite, i kept tabs on it by scanning a meteos barcode at the scanners. You should have seen the clerks face on that one, he was like, that is on clearance, its not even SUPPOSED to be in the case, like it was my fault the store is unorganized...

YAY!! I found my SIXTH $4 copy of the Clancy Trilogy today, which finally dropped at the one local Kmart where it had been ringing up $40 for a month now.

This baby is going to GS tomorrow when I go pick up my pre-order(day before release) MK Armageddon.

I laugh, because the one clerk who was watching the electronics dept. for the normal clerk(real sweetheart she is, very patient with someone without a list) and she did the reading the price sticker thing, quoting it as $39.99.

Thing is, I've mentioned the $4 copies of NamcoMuseum in abundance to 2-3 clerks already, but they seem content to only dump all the $19.99 games into the bins by the register.

Oh well, those will end up sitting there, like the copies of SRS Racing and F-Zero GX for GC did and still ARE sitting there.

I know that Pook, as I bought a copy of it when it WAS $2. However, I still noticed copies of SRS Racing for GC tonight at my local Kmart. Those have been out of system for a month or two already too.

These price drops are wacky. I went back to a Kmart that I knew had a bunch of out-of-the-system stuff and found the Pikmin 2 I had checked there just a week ago. I almost didn't bother, because it rang up $10 while all the other games had dropped as they should have. Well, today it was $2, go figure. I actually did fairly well finding the recent drops, but on the few old ones I found (there weren't as many as I remember) they quoted me $4 for them. Not a bad price, to be sure, but not worth it for trading to EB, so I declined . The girl working there (not a regular) believed my list, but she kept going to a supervisor and asking her about it and she wouldn't budge from the $4.

At another Kmart earlier I found 2 Clancy Triple packs - $19.99 .
I also found some of those restickered $9.99 "Value" games - both World Champ Poker and Pac-Man World 2 for PS2 were like that. Former $2 games now costing $9.99 because of the new UPC sticker. Oh well...

Thanks for mentioning this Pookymeister. Went back to one Kmart I have been to a bunch of times (and where the Clancy 3 pack has been ringing up for $20) and sure enough the Clancy 3 pk was now $4. Picked up two.

Also, since the EB games deal is almost over and I have a PS3 pre-ordered at EB, I decided to buy as much as I could find at this Kmart (been there like 4-5 times already - no one else seems to to looking for these clearence games). Picked up Mecenaries (XB) x2, LOTR:ROTK (XB) x3, Simpsons Road Rage (XB) x1, LOTR: 3rd Age (XB) x1, LOTR:ROTK (PS2) x1, Clancy 3 pk (XB) x2.

Pikmin 2 (GC) wasn't clearenced. SRS (XB) rang up price required - she told me it was full price but she had to dispose of it. And Oddworld was not ringing up on clearence either. The electronics woman was very helpful, she happened to have a price gun and she patiently waited and scanned games that I asked her to. Very positive experience.

For all the others who had the Clancy 3 pack ring up $20 - I suggest you check again!!!!!

You are going to lose money on those. Just because they sell those games for $20 new doesn't mean the used price is anywhere near that. I'd be surprised if any of those games traded in for more than a quarter each and since they are 2005 sports games they are not eligible for the trade 3, get $10 promotion.

Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 for GC has a good return - costs $3 and trades for $8 BEFORE bonuses...

Also I found 3 copies of the Clancy triple pack today for $4 each... the best part was that the girl didnt ring up 1 of them!! I love K-Mart...

I keep a moderate amount of the games I buy, but most of the games I -really- want are rather difficult to find, at least a cheap price anyway. There isnt enough time in the day for me to try and play all the games I buy. Ive got at least 5-10 on the shelf sealed that I bought with the real intention of playing but havent gotten around to, and the likelyhood is that they will sit there because of all the new generation stuff coming out. Got another pile that I dont care if I play or not, because they are cheap fodder for trades. :lol:

DAMN you all and your $4 Clancy Triple packs!! I tried AGAIN at the one store that I know has them - still $20 (not $19.99, but actually $20, wierd).

Pac-Man World 2 for PS2 seems to have gone up to $9.99 - it is NOT a restickered UPC either, they scanned the original UPC.

I was able to find some more World Champ Pokers though (PS2 is $2, Xbox is $1). I bought NBA Live 2005 for GC for $3 for myself - kind of on the high side for that , but I thought what the hell... I keep trying to slip my $1.50 copy of ESPN College Hoops 2K5 into my EB/GS trade-ins but they nix it every time. I was able to pass off a Tiger Woods DS though.

For the guy who bought the old sports games and wanted to trade them in sealed - just return them to Kmart and get your money back, then look for the non-sports clearance games . Chances are if you found the sports ones, there are others there too.

Actually, my one local Kmart has a bunch of the newer clearance games still in stock. I may have to check them out again, to see if I can grab a Budokai 2(GC) for $3, which trades for $8(before bonus) at EB/GS.

However, someone snatched all the World Championship Pokers(Xbox anyway) at that same Kmart. They had about a half dozen and now, NOTHING.

I'm still looking for a store that sells the Airflow or Logitech controllers, aside from the one I found in NY. I grabbed one Logitech already, but always wanted an Airflow and maybe a 'spare' Logitech. Shiningslade told me the Logitechs are $4 now, which is another reason WHY I want another.

You get $1 per game plus $10 bonus for trading 3 games. You can also use your edge card to get an extra 10%, and depending on the store you can sometimes stack the GI coupon when doing a pre-order.

As far as things ringing up wrong... I've been hitting 4 different K-Marts in my area and have found that prices can vary drastically. I picked up 3 Clancy packs yesterday for $4 each and the week prior I had them checked and they rang up $12 at the same store. It all depends on the employee you get, if they scan it at the register or the hand scanner, and if that particular store went through and priced everything correctly.

I just stopped by Kmart to get some milk, its my new store from grocery shopping since i can check the games too. They had TWELVE playstation 1 multi-taps for 20 a pop...they will never sell those.

Oh and i got Tiger Woods DS for $3, its not that bad of a game.
