I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

Below you will find another game list. This is the original clearance list that should mostly be YMMV by now. All prices below are the last known prices reported, but many are out of the system and will now depend on the employee you get, the tag on the game and your own negotiating skills.
I've not included UPC's, but I do have most of them & can add them later if there is enough demand for them. Good luck finding anything on this list!;)

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate
Old Link: http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs.doc
New Current Link http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs_2.doc

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

Q: What do I do with all these games?
A: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=95481
Well don't forgot a lot of these titles are older and it's not an impossibility that they've sold during the time they've been just sitting on the shelves. Just because the titles have been clearanced doesn't mean each K has any copies of those games left.

That's why it's kind of a thrill to hunt through the horrible cases; we seek and search for the dirt cheap titles. Occasionally we score one.
I love the hunt. But I was just there yesterday and there were probably three more of each copy then what was there 24hours later. I tore through the cases like mad. hopefully in a way that makes the CAG-faithful proud.

I went back to a K-Mart I hit before, that let me look through the cases, looking for an Animal Crossing... the bitch with the keys wouldn't let me look, saying "Oh, those games in the back you can't see, those are excess, they are the same games in the front". The K-Mart had vertical stacks on the bottom row of DS games and then MORE vertical stacks behind that.

I knew she was lying, because I could clearly see 5 copies of Portrait of Ruin and 5 copies of FF 3 that were in the back and WEREN'T in the front, but she kept telling me "it's excess, I can't let you go through there, it's excess" and when I pointed out those games, she said "No, they are excess".

Finally, I got REALLY frustrated, and, in something I've never done before, told her to screw off and that she just lost a sale, and to enjoy working in K-Mart the rest of her life.

I was pissed off from something else already, but to not let me look at the games in the back even though they ARE different games? I know the games back there are all different too because a few days ago the guy working back there let me dig through and was glad I was buying shit to clean out his case.

This woman was just a bitch though. From the very get go, she rolled her eyes when I asked if she could open the case.

If an employee said that to me at a kmart, me as a paying customer just wanting to clean out all their junk games, i would have just said i am calling the manager or called the customer service line on my cell phone right in front of her. If that didnt work then i would go with the above.

Beware, if someone is listing multiple of a same game (especially if its a lot of games, like 20-100) they are most likely fake or bootleg games, both DS and GBA bootlegs are common so be on the lookout for them, i wouldnt want anyone to be ripped off here by a slick ebay seller trying to cash in on people's holiday greed by offering an illegit product.

You might be right about this one. It is a brand new seller, "gamedaydeal", selling a lot of GBA games, including many, many copies of Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. Location is just "US" though they reference time (for payments) in CST, so they sound like Midwest or so. No verbiage at all in the auction about them not being bootlegs (when I sell GBA games, which is rare anyway, I make sure to guarantee that they were store bought in the US by me personally so they are authentic).

Anyway, could be legit, who knows - the point is they are driving down the Kirby price for sure ;). Most of the auctions that were up yesterday have been snapped up - he only has a handful up now.
Again, what are you doing to get the clearance prices?
Just looking for games that do not have the new UPC (in the locked glass area?)
Dude, have you even gone to a Kmart yet? In the last few days all you have done is asked these questions. I'll break it down for ya:

1. Go to your Kmart with the list
2. Look in the glass case to see if any of the games on your list match
3. Ask electronics person to open the case
4. Pull the games from the case
5. Take them up to the register
6. Have the electronics person scan them as aprice check first
7. While they are scanning them look at the register screen so you can see the actual price
8. If it comes up more than the clearance prices you have on your list, say no thanks I thought it was cheaper
9. Pay with cash/credit card etc
10. Come back here and tell us about the games you found
11. Go back to your Kmart with an updated list, this time dig around behind games
12. repeat steps 1-11 as needed

On another note, I found this today at 2 kmarts

Sony PSP
Gretzky NHL $3 v
Neopets $4 (Woohoo been looking for this one)
Darkstalker Chronicles $3
The Con $4 v
I haven't been able to go yet.
I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
Sorry dude, I don't mean to be an ass, it just seemed like you kept asking the same questions over and over.
I haven't been able to go yet.
I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
None of us ever does it "right" the first time. Hell, I've been going to Kmarts for over a year for these clearance games and I always miss stuff - I can go back to the same store 3 days in a row and still find things I missed previously. Just go see what you can find.

The only thing I'd add to hotwls13's suggestions is to print Slash's UPC sheet (which is linked a few pages back - AND NEEDS TO GO IN THE OP!). You can scan the sheet at the Kmart floor scanners. Then you can ask for stuff from the case with 95% certainty that it will be on sale - that always helps as it kind of annoys them when you pull 10 games and none are on sale and you say you don't want them ;).

The reason I say 95% is that I had that one case where the floor scanner said $9, but the cash register scanner said $34.99 (Advance Wars DS). Every other game I've scanned has been the same when ringing up though.

I had a slightly annoying experience the other day. It is 10pm or so, so while it is Christmas shopping season, the store isn't THAT crowded. The Electronics guy was nice enough, and opened one case for me. I snagged a game, then I wanted the next case opened. I knew exactly what I was after, I wasn't rifling through the stacks. In the mean time someone else asked for an iPod accessory from another case. He went and helped that person instead. Ok... I'm kind of annoyed because I was just standing there being actively helped and he went off to help someone who came in after me. No biggie. But then, of course, 3-4 more people come into the Electronics section and start asking him for things (another issue entirely are these selfish jackass customers who think it is perfectly OK just to blurt out a question/demand to the guy as he is standing next to another customer helping them). He then helps everyone before me (even writing down part numbers, going in the back to look for things, etc). If he was just doing quick ring-ups I wouldn't have minded, but he was going through more trouble for most of them than he was for me in opening the game cases. He kept walking by me saying he'd "be right back". Finally, after about 20 minutes of this, he came back and was friendly enough about it, but I just have no idea what he was thinking. And note this was a new guy that I had never seen before (so he doesn't remember me as someone who has looked through games before and only bought the cheap ones ;) - in that case, while it woulld still be a bit rude, I could see him helping other customers first).
i just picked up Donkey Konga 2/w bongos. It was marked $35 but rang up as $5.
Did u happen to go to a kmart in the L.A. area? If so, are there any DK 2 w/ bongos left?
The only thing I'd add to hotwls13's suggestions is to print Slash's UPC sheet (which is linked a few pages back - AND NEEDS TO GO IN THE OP!).
I agree that this needs to be in the OP. I have a little different approach though. I don't know about your Kmarts, but none of mine have scanners that I can use to check the barcodes. I have to have someone at a register do it. So, what I do is copy/paste the barcodes for the games I am interested in (instead of walking in with 5 sheets of barcodes) and have the electronics dude do a check of the 20 or so barcodes I brought. If most of the scans are coming up clearance price, I procede to rifling through the cases. One store I went to had nothing on clearance. Saved me from digging and saved the Electronics chick from getting pissed.

IO as for your PITA electronics dude, I had just the opposite experience today at a Kmart I have never been to. After having him scan a bunch of barcodes from my sheet, he handed me his keys. Said, I think it's this one. I looked at him weird, I even told him "I don't work here you know" (not being an ass, it's just that every electronics person I have seen at Kmart in the last couple weeks thinks I'm from corporate or something cause I know so much about their clearanced items and the fact I wear business attire and a badge around my neck). He say's "No problem, there are cameras". So, i proceded to go through every cabinet (after figuring out which keys worked) at my leisure. It was pretty funny cause people in the game aisle kept asking me if I worked there. I ended up only finding 4 games there. While he was ringing me up, he was like "dude how do you know about all these cheap games". He then asked if there was anymore Metroid Prime Pinballs so he could buy one for his little bro, I said no that's the last one. I had him take it off my bill so he could buy it.

That's awesome he gave you the keys. One K-Mart I went to over the summer wouldn't even let anyone carry the games to the register other than the employee because they were so scared of theft. I know better than to steal and if I was going to steal, the last thing I would steal would be some $2 and $5 games

Well, it was a bit odd in that he let me hold the games while he ran off with other customers. Usually they are pretty anal about keeping them with them, or at the counter, or whatever. I think he was just young and confused ;).

Your experience is funny when compared to my experience with "Peter" in the VA Kmart I went to a few months back (someone should dig up his "drive-by" post as a post of the year candidate). I was dressed similarly to you when I was there, and he stood there and watched me like a hawk, and when he had to step away for 1 minute he had some other employee stand RIGHT next to me to fill in. It was very amusing. They stood there staring at me without saying anything. (This was when they were remodeling and all the games were laying out loose - but still sealed off in the Electonics section).
(another issue entirely are these selfish jackass customers who think it is perfectly OK just to blurt out a question/demand to the guy as he is standing next to another customer helping them).
God, yeah, this is a specialty of K-Mart. Having done my price checking and looking at the glass cases for about ten minutes to pick out the games I would grab, I went to the counter and waited patiently for the employee to help an old lady buy some DVDs. Having completed this Herculean task, he turns to me, and I say "Hi, I'd like..." and I am immediately cut off by a woman saying "HEY WHERE'S THE BATHROOM".
Anyway, I had been at this K-Mart the previous week, before this new wave of markdowns happened, and the same clerk opened the case for me, though all I got were Namco Museum and Pac-Man World 2 both for Xbox, $2 each. The prices blew his mind when he rang them up. HE asked ME "How come these are so cheap?" and I said "They must be on clearance, I guess".
So anyway last weekend when the new markdown list hits, I had him open all four(!) game cases because of course there were 1 or 2 cheap titles in each particular case. As we were ringing up, and the $2 and $3 prices were showing up on the display, he asks me "So how come the prices are so low whenever you buy games?". I was kind of taken aback that (a) he recognized me, (b) maybe just me being paranoid, but he might have been implying that I was somehow pulling a scam/trick with the register as apparently I'm the only person who ever gets games this cheap. So I said to him, completely straight-faced "I guess I have magic powers", and left.
I'm kind of paranoid to go back there now though! I don't want to be recognized as "the cheap game guy". I prefer more of a Sam Fisher stealth approach to cheapassness!

Ha, all these stories make me wanna work there again. I use to work there 2 years ago and now that im a junior in college ive got some free time again, im gonna apply after christmas break...fingers crossed.
That's awesome he gave you the keys.
Yeah it was actually pretty funny. He had handed them to me designating one kay saying I think it's this one. So I go to the first case lock, and it's a totally different kind of lock. #-o So, I spent a couple minutes figuring that first lock out. The others all worked with the key he had designated.
I love the hunt. But I was just there yesterday and there were probably three more of each copy then what was there 24hours later.
Sorry Sugar, I misunderstood you. I thought that was your first check and you were ticked because you couldn't find anything.

Sorry, this was in central CA and the only one. Funny thing though, I had seen it there for several weeks and never considered asking about it till I saw that someone else had been able to get one for $5. Great that we have all this input.

Again, what are you doing to get the clearance prices?
Just looking for games that do not have the new UPC (in the locked glass area?)

Exactly. Going through the section case by case, row by row.

And I don't give a shiznit if it has a new UPC sticker on the game - I will pull those off.
Well I finally got my first DS games because of the clearance. I picked up True Swing Gold for 3.50 and Castlevania:DoS for 9. Isn't DoS kinda hard to find?
Congrats on the DS games, HS. =)

DoS is all over the place in the stores I go to. May just be where I am, though.
On another note, I found this today at 2 kmarts

Sony PSP
Darkstalker Chronicles $3

Nintendo DS
Trace Memory $15

Nintendo Gamecube
Donkey Konga 2 w/o bongos $3.50

Xbox
Psychonauts $3
DUUUUUDE!!! Hook me up!!! Tell me they had extras and you got some for meeeeee....
Did u happen to go to a kmart in the L.A. area? If so, are there any DK 2 w/ bongos left?
I tore through the cases at the LA KMart (mid city/across the street from the Grove) last weekend and they had been virtually picked clean. Found a bunch of $10 PSP games, some DS and GBA cheap games, and a couple of GC games but the pickings were indeed slim.

We need to find KMarts in the ghetto areas of LA or WAY out in the boomies/farmlands.

It isn't extremely hard to find (though most big retailers tend not to have it - the Targets, Best Buys, etc), but it sure is hard to find for less than retail. I went to 5 Kmarts and that was one of my primary goals - no luck.

Is anyone interested in a trade of Animal Crossing(DS) for Castlevania(DS)? I found AC today, stashed behind a bunch of other DS games, but haven't seen any copies of Castlevania.

I saw GCN copies of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Is that game hard to find right now in stores?

Also, picked up a copy of Classic NES: Legend of Zelda for $10! :)

not really ive seen a bunch in different stores

Dropped $40 in Streetsboro and $30 in Chagrin Falls. Chagrin Falls was the first store to go totally wonky on me - all the PSP games were over priced and even stuff like Ape Escape was $20 - strangeness. Did find my first snimal crossing though.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE LIST

Eye Toy Play 2 w/ Camera - $12
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 PSP - $14
Madden 2006 DS - $14
Resident Evil 4 PS2 - $14

Dave
How are you clearing $45? Looking at the completed auctions, there is a shit ton of them brand new selling for $30?

http://search-completed.ebay.com/ki...rcloZQQssPageNameZRC0021QQsubmitsearchZSearch

There's also a ton up at the moment at BIN's of $30 too, brand new.

I'm tempted to put my own personal copy I got from Sears up, and just snag a used cart only at EB or something to replace it.
No idea - although my first one was up before that guy. I was gonna up the price since the first one sold so quick, but then I saw those starting to go up and decided not to press my luck.

Dave

Added:

RE4 (PS2) - $14
Madden 06 (DS) - $14
Smackdown vs Raw 2006 (PSP) - $14

(Eye Toy Play 2 was already on the list)

I went to a different K-Mart today and found:

Eye Toy Kinetic w/camera - $5
Midway Arcade Classics 3 - $3
Donkey Konga 2 w/o bongos - $3.50
Polarium - $3

I'm willing to trade these for stuff maybe. The store had quite a few Treu Swing Golf, Polarium, DK2, and some others. Samurai Legend Musashi rang up $24 even though I bought one the other day for $3, and Feel Tha Magic still rang up $15. Bomberman DS still rang up $20 too. Boooo.

Just thought I add that when the games come up overprice (like DK:JB came up $27 for me) you could always buy it @ that price and return/rebuy to another K-Mart that has the prices adjusted to CAG levels. The CSR tripped out when I got DK:JB adjusted to $5 from $27. Good stuff.

Were there any more copies of AC: WW? I don't have Castlevania to trade so I was wondering if you could pick up a copy for me if there were any left.

I've only been able to find a single copy so far, though I plan to check out a couple more stores tomorrow.

i got one eyetoy kinetic for 9.00, and 2 eyetoy grooves for 5 each. Eyetoy Play2 rang up at 50.00. Also the other day i got eyetoy spy toy. no DOS or AC:WW...

Got Animal crossing Wild World and Feel the magic for the clearance prices, tried advance wars duel strike rang up for 35. The guy in the electronics department said that more often then not people working for kmart but not at a specific store come and do the price checks on most of these games. He said he had seen some other games go for lower than listed and didn't even know about the price drops. He also said that sometime when price drops are missed they sometimes are corrected later.

In case anyone picked up an extra Drill Dozer or True Swing Golf that they can't trade here (or give away ;)), they trade in for $9 and $7 at Gamecrazy (more with MVP of course). Add that to the $15 each for Ape Escape 3 and Neopets and you have a (very small) credit building opportunity there - at least enough to take $15 in Kmart stuff and turn it into a brand new $50 game at GC. Drill Dozer (and TSG for that matter) has been clearanced out at so many places that it isn't good trade fodder here at CAG. I passed up several copies of this at various Kmarts this week after getting 3 last week. I don't think anyone will mind if you buy n' flip a few of those.

I picked up an extra Jungle Beat with Bongos, it turns out. Anyone looking for it? I'd love to trade it for some clearanced spoils, Half Life 2 & Psychonauts Xbox especially.

Additionally, is there any CAG thread or forum that tries to pool trade-in values on particular games? Seems like that might be a great source to turn clearanced stuff into great deals on new games.

The Neopets that trades in for $15...is that the PSP version?

Dynasty Warriors PSP
MediEvil PSP
Neopets PSP

Indigo Prophecy PS2
Midway Arcade Treasures 3 PS2

Feel the Magic DS
Polarium DS

Ghost Recon Xbox

Drill Dozer GBA

Stopped by on my way home today...good thing I did :whistle2:D

DK2 w/bongos was $5, but none in stock
DK2 w/o bongos $3.50, 2 left
JB w/bongos $5, 2 left

The woman in electronics was very friendly, asked "Where can I find, a, uh..." and I was expecting her to ask about a Wii or PS3...but instead, she was looking for a Gamecube, as K-Mart apparently doesn't carry it.

Anyway, I snagged one of each, and after seeing my total came to less than $10, she told me she was gonna grab the remaining copies of each for her nephew. So yay, I've helped out for Christmas :)

Uh, yeah - the CAGwiki:

http://wiki.cheapassgamer.com/index.php/Category:Trade_in_values

I already posted the GC and GR trades from the Kmart games there. If you post in the GC thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95222

or the GR/Blockbuster thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109452

I will add the trade values you quote there to the CAGwiki.

For EB/GS trades, just post them here or PM them to me and I'll add them to the CAGwiki.

Welcome to CAG ;).

Answering other questions: rcaido, yes Drill Dozer for GBA. And the Neopets (yes, PSP) price is one someone else quoted here. I haven't traded it myself. Ridge Racer for PSP apparently trades for $12 at GC, but I wasn't even aware that was a Kmart clearance game.
