Parasite eve or vagrant story

Trying to debate to buy parasite eve or vagrant story for my psp. which one did you guys enjoy or both. i played parasite eve once and beat it 10 years ago or so i think. Never beat vagrant story but played once for less then an hour both are fun. Want your opinions and thoughts about two good Squaresoft games we dont hear enough about.
 
vagrant, pe1 is good and all, but I would wait for 2 , which in my opinion blows 1 away. same for dino crisis 1 and 2 , 1 was really really amazing, like amazing (lol) and 2 was not as enjoyable as a story, but added so much more
 
I would say Parasite Eve as long as you're an RPG fan (which you obviously must be) PE 2 turned into a bad Resident Evil clone. 1 is by far the better game. The story is also freaking awesome! (I actually learned about the theory PE's story is based on in genetics, which I found quite cool).

same here :). and yes i am a rpg fan zaku :). I played parasite eve 2 own both on my ps1, dont have vagrant story, but portable gaming works great with my son, he dosent bug me, as i play on tv he walks in front of and goes after controller. most likely going to buy both i bet. Parasite did have a great story, plus i always like aya brea. 13 yr old me liked her and i bet 23 old me will still find her awesome too. I remeber seeing the 3 headed dog cutscene freaked me out.
 
Freaky indeed. Vagrant story is also pretty cool though. Its kinda the forgotten Ivalice game. (Shit, most people don't even seem to know it's set in that world)
 
Persona is excellent it's my first SMT game, and I see what all the fuss was about now. These games are very unique, and definitely phenomenal RPGs.

Couldn't agree more. 2 was a complete letdown (and PE1 is one of my favorite all time games). It's nice to see they are (sort of) bringing it back with 3rd birthday, but, well, with the previews combined with how bad PE2 was, I'm not exactly excepting much.
 
I didn't play either games back in the day, so I bought both on PSN recently. They're both on my PSP, and I'm looking forward to playing them. The two games are cheap enough where I would say to just buy them both as well. Enjoy!
 
I will always vote for Vagrant Story. One of my favorite games, period.

Like most people here are saying though, they're both great and totally worth playing.
 
I think it depends solely on the type of RPG you prefer!

Vagrant Story is essentially a loot-centric dungeon crawler/ strategy rpg with a twist on the typical srpg battle system (timing based attacks)

Parasite Eve is an excellent story driven JRPG with action battle sequences. It's tough to say really. I have a TON of nostalgia for both, but I would lean towards Vagrant story, because in the end you are going to probably get a lot more playtime for your money with it.
 
I say PE but I agree with Guilty's decision logic. If you like a loot driven game more you'll like Vagrant Story better. If you like story driven JRPG's then you'll want Parasite Eve.
 
I played both during the ps1 days. And to tell you the truth both are good games. But Vagrant Story kinda left a strong impression on me, till today.

I bought both parasite eve and xenogears and vagrant story etc all new $60 on release, but i can't for the life of me get myself to spend a few dollars on them now. I still have the ps1 games mint but i will play them on my ps2 if i ever want to.
My only regret is losing the Aya Brea key chains i got for preorder/release day purchase. there were a few anime ones, but i was 16ish and the hottest one was her with no bra and her leather jacket swinging open. wow that was so hot. lol
 
inspired by this post i picked up Parasite Eve, i cant believe how many great ps1 games are up on the PSN store i could drop an easy 2-3 hundred bucks on there

I have an extensive rpg collection (Shit, I'm only missing 4 games to have every NA PS1 Squaresoft game =D) but there is just something nice about getting these versions and playing them on the psp. It looks a bit better, with older rpgs I prefer them to be portable, and it saves my copies from any accidental wear and tear. 'tis awesome!
 
I'm missing Ehrgeiz/Einhander, and both Bushido Blades. I'll get to them, and the other 4 or so PS1 games I've been putting off getting over the summer. I just can't be bothered with it right now lol
 
i have ergehiz god that was a bitch to find back in the days of no internet shopping where buying rare games calling funcolands to see if they had it in.
 
Go with Parasite Eve.While Vagrant Story is a great game,it's overly complex for it's own good.The game's tutorials aren't that good at explaining the system either which forces you to go online for guide which IMO kills it.
 
Well its not really the battle system that's complex in Vagrant Story it's more of the weapon making system which the game is based around.You don't get levels so you make weapons.If you don't have the right weapon for certain parts you will end up doing 2 or 0 damage.Still a game worth getting since it's only 6 dollar's.
