Persona 4 - $36.99 on Amazon now! (was $34.99)
Is there anything particular from the expansion pack you are looking for? I've got one coming and am still undecided as to why I had originally ordered it in the first place.
Um I believe it's the Amazon Exclusive Social Link Expansion Pack. It was 29.99 I think. Is that the one you ordered? I was basically looking for the soundtrack that it comes with. If you don't want it, I'll be glad to pay you for it! :D Or if you don't want the whole thing, I'll pay for that too! :)

Also, my game still hasn't shipped yet! :(
decided to cancel my pre-order at CrapShoot (err..i mean GameStop) and order from amazon..don't want to have to deal with the dumbass employees at GS anymore and plus, with as many games as i have to play, i can wait.
I'm contemplating doing the same thing. I'm wondering if I should wait to buy when it drops to $30 or $25. Upon further reflection, I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to play this right away, and I could always play P3 (which I haven't played yet) in the meantime. As long as I get my artbook somehow, I'll be happy. My local store occasionaly hooks me up with their extras if I ask. That's how I got my Eternal Poison artbook, since they got some but had no preorders. Maybe I'll try to hit them up for Luminous Arc 2, also...

Normally, I'd wait. But since it's an Atlus game(and Atlus games seem to go out of print very quickly) I figured picking it up at launch was the best thing to do to assure myself a copy. I missed out on the original P3 because I waited a few months before trying to pick it up. Thank goodness for FES.

The only thing I was looking for from the Social pack was the cd. Someone was supposed to split up one that they ordered with me so I could get it, but I haven't heard from them (and lost the name).

Atlus games aren't really hard to find anymore. I think you could get either Etrian Odyssey game for $10 or $15 on Black Friday.

The original P3 was only hard to find imo because they knew they were bringing out FES so they didn't bother to reprint. Every other Atlus game in recent memory has been quite easy to get ahold of.

Even the slightly older ones like DDS and Nocturne have had reprints.

I don't think any of us have to rush in & get a copy asap anymore. Atlus has been printing an assload more copies of every recent game it seems & reprinting some old ones.

Anyway, had to cancel my Persona 4 order (of 2 copies) & just get 1 instead, won't be surprised if the price drops at least $5 next week & then another $5-$10 the week after...

I hope they will get more in-stock

I think you're right but maybe it will be different with P4? I mean maybe Atlus will actually go back to their old ways and not just publish games cookie cutter style. I read somewhere that one of the Atlus reps said something to the effect that P4 will not be getting a reprint P3 style or anything.

The thing you heard about was them not making an updated version of P4 (essentially a P4 FES). It pissed a lot of P3 owners off when Atlus announced P3 FES, since they had to re-buy the game just for the extra content.

It the end it is going to be up to Atlus Japan to make the decision, and in Japan FES was a full price game if you dont have the original P3.

I'm not interested in getting the shirt, so if anyone's planning on getting rid of the rest, I'd be interested! ...Though I might not even use the calendar, which would defeat the purpose. ;; So yeah, seeing as how everyone's likely to snag the CD and dump everything else, I'd be glad to purchase the rest, preferably as a set rather than getting a calendar from one person and a plushie from another.
It the end it is going to be up to Atlus Japan to make the decision, and in Japan FES was a full price game if you dont have the original P3.
If you mean the decision to release an expanded version, Atlus has already commented. I'm unsure if it was Atlus or Atlus Japan that made the statement though.

In what might be a first for any publisher, Atlus sent us an anti-announcement stating there will be one and only one version of Persona 4 which is scheduled to come out on December 9. It is strange to hear a publisher close their doors to a follow up before a game even launches, but Atlus also wants to assuage fears that a deeper version won’t be coming out in the future.

I think you guys are right about Atlus games becoming easier to find thanks to all the reprints, but I'd still rather not chance it.

YESSSS mine finally shipped i think!! Early Christmas!
So is the art book that was sold seperatly for $30 paper back then?
It looks soft covered, yes.

I had preordered two Social Links, and now when I tried to check their shipping status right now, the order is gone from Amazon. Not canceled, just gone.

What. The. fuck?

EDIT: Checked my email. I have a shipping notification, but the order is gone from Amazon. :/

Change the drop down to orders placed in the last 6 months.

Anyway, everything plus the Dark Knight coming tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this happen to me when I ordered Eternal Poison. Whenever I went to the order page, it wouldn't show up. However, when I went to the product page itself, it showed that I ordered it, and would take me to the order. If you've tried that and it doesn't work, then I guess you'll have to wait in anticipation, not knowing its location.

That worked, thanks!

Sons of bitches! Should have been atleast $5 if not more cheaper then.

I dunno if waiting is worth saving $5.. I was hoping amazon would have the guide a bit cheaper than $20
Amazon said that the game will be shipped on December 15th and should arrive between December 22nd and the 24th....
I'm the same as you except that I'm the 22nd to the 29th. I want this game so badly, I haven't played any RPGs in over a month to prepare for this.

Placed my order way back in September and it shipped today with free super saver shipping. Its set to be here by the 12th. My book is the same.......going to have to wait regardless on the social link since I asked for it for Christmas.

I just got home and guess what was waiting for me. Not only on time, but a day early! And I only ordered on Friday. Prime pays off, I guess.

My game looked like it was shipping today. ETA says 12/15. But given the shipping point they mention, and how long the last order took to get there from that location last week, it will probably be here by the 11th.

So here is a question for you guys. Kind of off topic but kind of not and I know a lot of you will have played DDS1/2. I just purchased DDS1/2 from someone here at CAGer and am now debating if I should jump into P4 right off or wait and play DDS1/2 first. Also have SMT on my backlog......I rented it after the game intially came out and wasnt digging it.....but am thinking of retrying it.

So what order to play things in?

Edit - Ugggg and for RPGs not on the DS with great reviews have Suikoden V as well sitting there......

I'm really kicking myself for not ordering the artbook when I had the chance.

My order shipped this morning from PA, UPS 2-day is getting it to me tomorrow.

I can't remember; did you already play P3? I would say play P4 while it's all shiny a new, man. Let the backlog wait. None of the games have any continuity between them at all.

I personally didn't care for DDS. SMT:N I liked a lot more but never finished. Persona is really more my thing, at least the way it exists in P3 and P4.

One thing the DDS games do have that I like is phenomenal music. Shoji Meguro's soundtracks are freaking awesome. I love his rock tracks the best, but I still loved P3's. I think I'll like P4's even more.

Sorry, I get a little excited.

Anyway, yeah, that's what I think. P3 (if you haven't, because it'll be harder to go back to), P4. Then maybe DDS. You said you didn't like SMTIII when you first played it. Otherwise I'd say play that before DDS. (But I really liked SMT, and not DDS so much, so...) Main thing, I just don't think you should wait when it comes to P4. Enjoy it with us while it's fresh and new!
My order shipped a couple hours ago. I'll have it tomorrow :D
Mine still hasn't shipped. :( I e-mailed them about it, asking why some go out sooner than others, but they dodged the question and just assured me they'd have it to me by the expected delivery date, the 12th. Lame.
I just got home and guess what was waiting for me. Not only on time, but a day early! And I only ordered on Friday. Prime pays off, I guess.
Not for me! I ordered mine God-knows how long ago, and super saver shipping people are already getting theirs. I'll be lucky if they get mine to me by their estimated date of the 12th. I'm annoyed on principle.
I'm really kicking myself for not ordering the artbook when I had the chance.
I had an order for one... and canceled. I wanted to save the $30, and I figured hey, I'm getting the pre-order art book...

But of course now I regret it. Sigh. Oh well.

I loved DDS (1 for the atmosphere, 2 for the story) and would suggest playing through those before tackling Nocturne.

my copy hasn't shipped yet but the copy of Eternal Poison I grabbed during the black friday sale for some reason is in Kansas

it shipped from Maryland and I live in Virginia

why the fuck is it in Kansas :bomb:

this is to believe the tracking info Amazon provides is accurate, the postal service itself only says they've received the electronic shipping information

I don't mind waiting for free shipping, I should be spending time working on finals anyway. Am still waiting on the Social Link Expansion Pack to ship and I ended up canceling the strategy guide from Amazon and buying it on EBay during the Black Friday sale for $13.69.

Mine also shipped today along with The Dark Knight blu-ray, can't wait to play P4! I used free shipping and it will be here tomorrow via UPS coming from Baltimore, pretty sweet!

Bah, they say I won't get mine until the 12th either. Even though I chose Prime 2-day shipping. I signed up for the prime trial just to get this early XD

Nocturne is one of the most memorable RPGs from last gen, IMO. The story is pretty minimalistic, but intentionally so... gameplay is very good, and the Pokemon-style creature collecting is much more interesting than in the Persona games (IMO). Definitely the best choice if you're interested in a challenge.

The DDS games are also superb--better in regards to story in that they are much more traditional RPGs, but slightly weaker in the gameplay arena due to the absence of collecting different creatures. They're also both pretty short, which may be a perk in your case.

I personally enjoyed both the DDS games and SMT:N more than P3, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of these games.

I'll say the opposite, I played P3 first then nocturne (well I'm about 2/3rds through nocturne), and I may not finish. The demon collecting is pretty similar in both, but I think it worked better in P3. I find I'm using the same demons pretty much until they are just too low in level for every battle (except some bosses where I need more specific characteristics), whereas persona I was switching personas in random encounters. I also liked the persona 3 story much more than nocturne, and the school stuff was a nice contrast to the dungeons.

That said, if I played nocturne first I guarantee it would have been one of my favorite games of the generation, but after experiencing everything they added in P3 to what is essentially the same framework I just can't enjoy it as much.
