CAGiversary!
I saw this in a Radio Shack sales paper at my mom's this morning. I checked their website and it is listed for $40 and the weekly ad link expires 3/1. My mom said she got the paper this morning (3/1), so I'm thinking this sale starts on Sunday 3/2. Sorry I don't have a sales paper to scan, but I figured I'd give everyone a heads up, it might be worth checking on tomorrow.
I picked this up on eBay brand new for $20. It is awesome!! Better than PGR 3.....
Its leaps and bounds better then PGR3
I don't understand why Cag dislikes people from Fat Wallet or Slick Deal. Can someone explain this to me?
I think it's because CAG is "something special" -- it sounds corny but it does seem to be a community that is largely gaming enthusiasts (my uneducated guess is over 80%) with very few ebay hoarding profit mongers. People here seem to interact and help each other out more-so than on those other sites (notice CAG has iTrader). Spend 5 minutes on FW and you'll see folks bragging about how they wiped out their local TRU stock of tickle-me-elmos right in front of a little girl waiting to buy one AND stole her candy as they left the store.

Awesome.

I picked this up yesterday in the Boston Area without problem. While I didn't care for the demo too much, I loved and beat the first PGR3. I felt it deserved an honest chance and at $20 it was a no brainer.
fuck, it looks like word of this deal finally spread over to FW. If you guys are on the fence on this one, you should get it quick before the FWers start hoarding them.

Radio Shacks are like Walgreens in some areas though so people may be alright the only thing is im sure they dont have huge stocks in store of these games.

Personally, I think the strength of these type of sites is finding good deals that not many people know about yet. The more sites that post these deals, the less a chance I have of getting in on them.

Even CAG has become a victim of its own success in many ways imo, but I've found that I still have a great chance of picking up a deal if I see it posted here. Once something is up on FW or SD, I pretty much kiss it goodbye.

Thank you!
I read the title of the forum went to the radio shack website and
I just price matched the game at my local Best Buy.

I just posted this in another thread as well

I know im still a Noob here, and not sure if i should actually make a new thread for this but for the past week since i became a member, ive spent many of hours reading through several 100 pages of posts mostly on 360 games and Dvd's.

What I'm curious about is seeing that most of the time during the sale, that the stores become OOS in multiple locations, and people are calling/driving all around their city's and surrounding areas on a small hope that they might actually get lucky and nab one. Such as the case in this instance, and only then maybe being able to pick up 1 or 2 copies.

Just curious since if its an advertised special somewhere, PM stores will usually call and check if its in stock at that other store, so what im wondering is y more CAG's dont utilize my suggestion (and maybe its been mentioned or done b4, sorry didnt search) and post good quality scanned receipts (never had a PM store call the other store if i walked in with a receipt) as soon as someone is able to jump on the deal. That way if were to sell out, another person could go into any other store in their area that does PM and have them honor the deal. and pick say 5 copies instead of none or maybe the last copy on the shelf at the sale store.

really in most cases the only issue i c is that the receipt prob wont match the city or state that your in, but i highly doubt that most PM stores would look at the receipt close enough 2 notice or care.. or maybe even photoshop or white out the address completely, so only the store name is visible. anyone with a little knowledge could do this easly in a matter of minutes.

I just figured it might increase the amoung of CAG's that actually are able to get in on the deal's, rather than getting frustrated of always being "a day late or a dollar short"

Hell it cant be any worse than people getting a killer deal somewhere else and going into walmart without a receipt and getting full value, and then buying the game of there choice for essentialy the sale price of the unwanted game that was on sale, i have not tried that one yet, but since i'm now an official CAG, i just might have to give that one a whirl.

P.S.
MOD'S feel free to move this post if it is incorrectly placed in the wrong location.

I KNOW THIS IS OF THE WRONG GAME AND STORE, but just wanted to give a visual reference to what i was describing, hope to see some receipts posted in the near future!!!!

I think there's a lot of truth in this. I use to lurk on those other sites once and awhile, looking for a deal, and a lot of people seemed like real scum. Whether or not they were telling truth, that's up for debate, but some of the stories were just completely off the wall and really sleazy.

When I heard about CAG, I first just visited the home page, to see the big deals. I soon signed up for the forums, though, and now find myself coming here more than other boards I use to BS on. For the most part, this is a nice community.

I jumped on this deal. Thanks OP! Up until this week, I had no idea Radio Shack sold video games. Even when looking for PGR4 I walked right by the display. Just an odd match (though I'm not complaining).

Thanks for the post, picked up mine yesterday!!! Radio Shack were out but took their flyer into Circuit City and got a price match. Definitely worth $20!

i really didn't like pgr3... the pgr4 demo was soso for me... just don't know if i would like pgr4 or would it gather dust...

im sitting on the fence for this... been spending to much money
I don't understand why Cag dislikes people from Fat Wallet or Slick Deal. Can someone explain this to me?
Because CAG is a bunch of people that like to find deals on games so they can PLAY the games. Fat Wallet seems to be a bunch of hoarders and soccer moms that love to sell shit on ebay for profit.

I'm sure this is a terrible stereo type but that seems to be the running thought.

Yes, that is very true. When CAG started if a deal was posted you would always be able to find the deals at stores. Now days it's a crap shoot and once it's on fat wallet you might as well just stay home.

FW also has a lot of people with terrible entitlement complexes and non-existent understanding of consumer/contract law. You know, the people whose thought process is "They will eventually give me what I want just to get rid of me if I make a big enough scene. My dignity is actually that worthless, and I have no empathy for other human beings."

I picked it up a couple days ago for this price, but rented at release, so for $28 total was able to be on time to the party but pay only a late-comer price. It is a superb racer as are all PGRs but the timing of its release in the middle of a ton of $60 must-haves and the reports of Activision buying Bizarre Creations diminished the need to support what seems to be the end of the line for PGR as we know it (PGR5 not by Bizarre would be like DMC not by Capcom).

But now the question is: how much of what-was-PGR gets into the new racers coming from Activision/BC?

I will note that all other MSR/PGRs were Day 1 purchases for me, so my reaction to the PGR4 release surprised me...and going by sales I'm not the only one apparently.

Woah, I'm glad I saw this thread. I went to Radio Shack on my lunch break and manaed to get the last copy they had. I have Forza 2, but it just isn't my cup of tea, and I was looking for a reasonably priced racing game for my 360. This should tide me over until Burnout Paradise comes down in price.

I still have my MSR i pop in from time to time. but i agree i loved PGR3 even thought the achievements are pretty tough. But at the time its wasn't a must have at release and I'm glad i waited because i would've have even got around to it until probably now and not even that probably.

Thanks again for spotting this sweet deal. I went to my Radio Shack and they did not have any in stock. So I went to Best Buy and they had a couple so I Price Matched it with the ad.

Got PGR 4 for $21.66 with tax included!!! :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

I loved pgr 1 and 2, did not like 3 at all. 4 is incredibly fun and brings back the happy memories of 1 and 2. The only thing I hate about it is the horrible soundtrack. You can probably use your own music though (haven't checked it out yet).

I couldn't find any at my Radio Shack. Was it out hanging with the other games or hidden somewhere? I only saw like 3 xbox 360 games total and no more than that.

Just called my local Radio Shack and they had one left. The guy even mentioned to me that it was on sale for $20. They're holding it for me, and I'm going to stop by and get it on my way into work. This game wasn't really even on my radar, but for $20, I'm all over it.

Thanks for the heads up, OP!

I had the game in my hand at Circuit City and a Radio Shack ad in my back pocket and I thought " you know, the hell with it" I got enough damn Xbox 360 racers I never play. I have Forza 2 that I have beat about 10% of, Need for Speed Most Wanted that I beat about 10% of, Burnout Revenge that I beat about 10% of, Project Gotham 3 that I played for like 2 hours, and Test Drive Unlimited that I haven't even opened. This game is not cheap enough for me to buy another damn 360 racer. I might pick it up when it hits $10 used. I have a feeling this game will retail for $20 everywhere by this summer.

Exactly my thoughts

I picked it up tonight. There were plenty in stock. I agree the racing genre is flooded for the 360. PGR is a great racing series. It's doubtful that Activision will continue it.

Now onto Gran Turismo 5...

BTW, I have never received the extra off at BB or CC... how does one get this extra discount below the price match?

i price matched it at CC but they didn't give me the 10% extra eaither... I would have said something but i didn't look to closely at the recipt.

at least at BB, you have to have bought the item FIRST, and then do the PM-- if you do the PM at the time of purchase, they just match. If you come back later you get the extra 10%.

I do believe that CC's policy should give the extra 10% whenever, but I'm not sure.

I wasnt going to press my luck by asking for the extra 10% as my circuit city didnt call radio shack for stock so i was happy just by that alone as all radio shacks were completely sold out in my area.

You can use your own music on any 360 game using the Guide button, except some games that override it for a good reason (like Rock Band during songs). It works just fine in this game, I stream the music off my PC.

I have done both senarios at both stores. I never received any extra off... maybe I'm not being "cheap" enough. I'll have to check out thier policies.

Of course when you call 1-800-BEST-BUY... they'll tell you anything to get you off the phone and then you can quote them at the store. I suppose it just depends on how convincing you sound. I never "misquoted" them though.

With CC, you have to buy in @ CC *while* the other ad is in effect to get the extra 10%. That is, you cant buy early and then price adjust. Apparently, this is not automatic either. When I PMed the Target $99 PS2 deal, I had to point it out to the cashier. There was no problem. He was just like "Oh, yeah!", like he had just forgotten.

My guess is that most (non-CAG/FW/SD) ppl dont pricematch so the sales clerks dont think about the extra 10% that often.
Cracked PGR4 open...it's REALLY good! I like the "purchase stuff w/ kudos" feature...gives you a reason to play beyond just racing.
Yeah, it's pretty neat.

Yeah I had the same experience. I guess I will have to pick up 4. 3 was a big disappointment after playing 1 and 2.

PGR4 is really good. Gameplay is good, and graphics are amazing! Seriously if you have an hdtv, try racing in the rain because it looks so good.

Stopped by my RS today for shits and saw it on sale as stated. Didn't bother though. How much is this retail, wonder if I could flip it haha

Played the heck out of this during the last week, got to say I am so happy with this deal. Then I saw it in the KMart ad this week - $59.99. Hah!

Thanks again

Wow, K-Mart is selling it for $60, and they actually put in the ad? That's a good laugh. It's like $40, now. Also, if some reason you can't get in on this at RS, there seems to be a bunch of sealed copies on eBay (wonder where those came from...).

Damn... can't find a store with 2 copies. I have a $10 off $40 coupon for Radio Shack that was the in the 2008 Entertainment Book. May just pick up PGR4 w/ a 1600 points card or something.
