I was tinkering with the Playstation Portable version of Fight Night Round 3 tonight when I decided to check out the online play.

Imagine my shock when a message popped up telling me that I had to either pay $2 or give my privacy away to ESPN and whoever they feel like selling my details to, if I wanted to play online.

I shit you not, it’s a requirement for ALL online play in this game. How insane is that. Granted $2 is next to nothing, unless you don’t have a credit card. If you don’t have a credit card, it’s either give ESPN your info (including email) or don’t play.

I sure hope Sony doesn’t continue down this ugly path. Imagine having to give up your email and, in essence, signing up for spam, just to play SOCOM 4 online.

I don’t know if this is a Sony or an EA idea, but it stinks to high heaven. Although my version of this game is a retail final, it didn’t come with packaging, so I don’t know if they let buyers know ahead of time they have to pay an extra $2 or opt-in to email delivered advertising.

I’ll see what I can find out on Monday. In the meantime let me know what you think of this idea.

Wow, that is lame. Nothing that a dummy Hotmail account won't fix. Anything you need to register for, just use the 2nd account. :p
 
Old news. Same thing happened for this year's EA sports games, so it's nothing surprising. It shouldn't even be news. People get too bent out of shape over this stuff.

I haven't seen it in action myself but my co-workers got it today and they love it. I read on Gamefaqs it plays like round 2. But I am curious to see what anyone's thoughts on the game is.

I haven't played any FN but since it's on the PSP I'm willing to give it a try. If anyone has it, can you confirm is Paciauo(sp) is in this one as well.

I just picked this game up earlier today. I tried it online but I always seem to get disconnected in the second round.
 
I do it a little differently... I have one main email account that I use for everything, including signing up for stuff. But its not a junk account, its linked to ebay and paypal and everything else I use on the web. I couldnt live without this email account.

I have another email account that is only used for communicating with friends. There are probably no more than 10-12 people who have this email. So far Ive never gotten a spam email in this account *knock wood*.

I like to have my main email for order confirms, ebay business, etc, and another just for talking to my friends. That way, when I see new items in my inbox, I know its from my friends and not some crap from ebay or whoever...
