I just picked one of these up for a buddy. I've had one since they came out (paid $50.....Doh!) the thing if ing sweet! Very good deal, IMO. Not sure if this is anywhere else, though. I'm in Fresno, CA. Just a heads up!
My H2 headset broke only a few months after I bought it. My replacement one isn't working too well (a free clip-on-ear one that came with our housephone). I guess I'll go out today and hopefully find it on clearance.
Does the headsit come with the little gizmo that plugs into one of the controller slots? Or will I have to buy one of those THEN purchase this?
Yeah, you have to buy that seperate. That's the suck ass part of this deal. But the headset is pretty cool. I use it at home with my cordless phone and my cell phone on the go. Halo 2 everywhere I go!
Will they be compatible with X360?
Yes, the 360 headset is nothing different from other headsets of this type or the current Live headset. They're all going to plug into the micro jack on the controller and the volume's controlled through the 360 Dashboard.
On the plus side you can acctually buy the puck individually now through Pelican for like $10 where before you had to buy the official headset or a Live starter kit before

I know there's 2 diff packages of the product. One that comes with the communicator and one that comes without it. I think this is the one that comes without one, and I'm pretty sure you can't even purchase the communicators seperately.
Question: If I called Target and asked them about the price, would they give me the clearance price? Or whatever is on the tag? I could probably ask them to scan it right?

There's no Plantronics headset that comes with the puck. The only non-MS headset that will work without one are the ones that are a permanent part of a controller.
The clearence prices are clearly marked with red tags.
If you don't believe me because the lack of an image on the link, whatever. I know I've seen it at both EB and BB. But, if you still don't believe me, take glory in your internet victory.
TRU sells the puck one for $50 and the one without the puck is $50 too. The last deal TRU had where you buy a game and get the headset for $20 only worked on the one with the puck. The one without is discontinued and eventually TRU will mark it down.
Then show me where on Plantronics page (www.plantronics.com) where this imaginary product is or any reputable site for that matter.
Dude, it exists. The packaging is different and it actually shows the puck.
Whereas this thread should not since it belongs in the Target clearance thread.

It's out there. That's why the ones w/o the communicator piece are on clearance to make way for these in all likelihood.
If anyone can pick up an extra one I will paypal them $25 for it, or trade some games. Send me a PM if you can get an extra one.
I'll go after work and see if they have any left. Peace!

Yeah, the Halo 2 headset with the puck definitely exists. I saw a whole rack of them at Best Buy about 6 months ago. The mic boom was also about 2 inches longer on the version that included the puck.

Took me about 30 seconds to find one on eBay. Not to mention when you click on "Buy Now" from the Plantronics.com website, it shows you the headset with the puck in their picture.
Ok I was wrong, but a couple months ago when I'd been considering buying this headset Plantronics was blatently saying they don't sell them together.
that's why they then made a package with the puck...lots of people complained about no puck...
OP, can you post a scan of the receipt?
Why? It's not like your local Target will price-match another location's clearance price. Just wait a few more weeks (or a month), and your location's price will eventually fall however low you want it to be.
Sorry, guys, no luck. I went back & they were all gone. I'll look for my receipt, but I'm pretty sure I tossed it. I'll check the other local stores to see if they have any.
