:applause::applause::applause:
I can't respect a person's opinion in a XBox 360 vs. PS3 debate when they can't even spell Blu-Ray correctly.

I agree with you on PS3 being a better deal than other 2 current gen consoles, but batteries doesn't last forever. Microsoft made the right call on user replaceable batteries IMO.
siaxis batteries are user replaceable, it's very easy to change them out.
And about this rumor, heh. I repeat, heh. :^o
Are you guys giving credibility to a rumor started by an EB sales clerk that has no other evidence to go along with it?
isn't that how we get most of our information.

little off topic quesiton...

Dvd player needs to be hooked up to the TV via AV cords... Can you hook your PS 2/ Ps3 up to the TV using a RF cord and still play the DVDS

There is already a thread for PS3 technical questions. There is no good reason to ask that question in here.

The creator of this stupid rumor wanted threads like these to be started and kept bumped. Probably he's a xbox360 fanboy who would like to put a dent in PS3 sales. People should stop posting in this worthless thread and let it die.

Judging by the fact the thread creator has a PSN id posted, I'm going to guess he's not a xbox 360 fan boy. Also, this time the rumor has credibility, although different sources seem to be confused about its form. The hard evidence points towards a new bundle, not an actual price drop, but they seem to be born of the same sources, not different.

I said creator of the rumor, not this thread. Just because the the Target bundle rumor is credible doesn't mean this rumor is. Stop perpetuating this nonsense.

My bad, I took the two as the same. I didn't think you were suggesting an over-arching conspiracy of thread creation ;)

I'm not saying the target bundle rumor makes this one credible, I'm saying it started out as the same thing, but people were confused about what form it would take (a bundle, not a price drop). For all intents and purposes, the price drop IS the target bundle unless we hear something new.

Now everyone heard the RUMORS and hold for $100 price cut. Sony end up take big HIT for month or more cos everyone wanna save extra $100.

That's why they are so desperate to squash the rumors. Eventually, even if they hadn't planned a cut, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because everyone is waiting for it.
With a PS3 For $399 you get
1. A game system with 1080 capability
2. A blue ray player that is fully upgradeable
3. An up convert DVD player
4. Rechargeable controller that never needs batteries
5. Wired and wireless network adapter included
6. Free Net service
7. 80g HD that can be upgraded to a huge amount for under $100 if you shop.
8. 1 year warranty
9. BC with PS1 games

Total price to get rolling $399 plus the cost of a game $20-$60 ($420-460)

Xbox for $299 you get
1. A game system with 720p capability
2. no Blue Ray
3. No upconvert DVD (at least I don't think so)
4. Controller that takes batteries costing you more money out of the gate.
5. Wired internet included but you pay $75 or more for wireless bringing you to $375
6. 60g HD ($150 to upgrade to 120g)
7. 2 games going for about 20 bucks each if you shop
8. pay to play net service costing $50 a year after any specials are up
9. 3 year warranty
10. Headset
11. BC with xbox 1 games

Total price to get rolling $425 plus batteries and you'll probably still want to get a different game ($445-$485). And you still can't watch movies.

IMO Sony's machine....blah...blah...blah
Why do Sony fans always do this? I like how you use "if you shop around" only for things to strengthen your argument and you only show things that do not come with the 360. Where is the mention of no headset or HD cable for the PS3?

PS3

1. PS3 has 480i only capability out of the box...you have to buy a component or HDMI cable to get anything more.
2. CHECK (see No. 1)
3. See No. 1
4. But if it dies in the middle of a game you have to plug it in with the included 3' cable to continue
5. CHECK
6. You get what you pay for
7. CHECK
8. Should be longer
9. CHECK

$400 to play in standard definition and not be able to chat online w/ friends

360

1. 720p/1080i out of the box, 1080p w/ HDMI or VGA cable
2. CHECK
3. Upconverts with HDMI or VGA cable
4. Out of the gate, comes with batteries...rechargable AA's are dirt cheap, plus easy to swap when your batteries die during a game
5. No need for wireless. Easy to place router behind TV. WIRED=MORE RELIABLE
6. 60GB is plenty for most, else buy an Elite
7. CHECK
8. You get what you pay for (and "if you shop around" it can be had for much less) 1 month free
9. CHECK
10. CHECK
11. CHECK

$300 out of the box to play in HIGH DEFINITION and chat w/ friends online
(if you prefer Standard Definition and not chatting with friends, you can spend $200 on a 360)

See what I did there? I gave a view from the other side.

Bottom line, these comparisons are tired. I have all 3 systems and each serves their own purpose (1 for gaming, 1 for blu rays (and baseball), 1 for the kids), but that's just me.

Just to correct/clarify a couple of points of yours:
1. I purchased HDMI cables for $4 a piece. This is not a big deal. Check the tech sites and you will see there is no difference between that and a $60+ cable. Only reason a better cable matters is if your console is over 12 feet away.
5. A wireless routers provide excellent reliability. Especially for games. 45MB wifi is PLENTY for playing games. (IF games were streamed then it might be an issue. NOT the case here. Streaming movies over wifi is more taxing and even that I do with ease.) BTW, where most people place there router is contingent on their dsl/cable jack. NOT where you place your TV.

I don't care about the comparison but just get your facts straight. Especially technical ones.

1. I never said that they were expensive (I shop monoprice), I was just comparing what was in the box.

2. I didn't say wireless was unreliable, I said wired was MORE reliable. I wasn't referring to streaming/gaming/etc. I was referring to other wireless devices that tend to "kick" you off (2.4 ghz routers/phones/microwaves/etc.). Oh, and a lot of people tend to place their TV contingent on their cable jack location...just sayin.

My facts were straight, you just read them the way you wanted to.

ohscaryone pointed out "With a PS3 For $399 you get" and "Xbox for $299 you get" and proceeded to add additional costs to strenghten his argument. I was clarifying what you actually get for those prices.

SD Gaming out of the box ($399) vs. HD gaming out of the box ($299)

No need to get all defensive. The shopping around comment can go either way. It defends both sides pricing arguments.

My original reply was in response to the quote "Sony still has the most costly system on the market compared for what they give you." I was just showing that in reality its every bit as fair priced as the equivalent xbox 360. It was never intended to be a slam against a 360. I had some tech facts wrong about the xbox that were corrected and it just makes the systems more equal but still similar in price after everything is done. Hell the reliability issue is the only thing keeping me from getting an xbox right now, nothing more.

I am not a fan of any specific company. I am just a gamer from the Atari 2600 days who enjoys what little time I have now for games. IMO both systems are overpriced but to claim one is a more costly system compared for what they give you really is not true. Overall they are both going to suck about the same amount of cash out of your wallet when the dust has settled.

the xbox warranty is only 3 years for the RROD, if it fails for any other reason it's only covered for a single year just like the PS3, also when it came to adding a second system for a bedroom, the ps3 was a no brainer, wireless/blu-ray makes a huge difference in situations like those.

Ill stop replying in this thread and just let it die, its just that I honestly prefer my ps3's much more to my xbox, if it wasnt for the case that a few of my friends only own 360s, I probably wouldn't own one myself.

Good one!

It's sad because I know 2, maybe 3, people who absolutely will not buy a PS3 until the price drops. Tis a shame.

FYI I have a pic of the PS3 bundle on the floor of my local Target in my facebook profile. I'll try to get it uploaded somewhere else later.

Yeah. Tis a shame they're so stupid. Oh well. It's their loss.

Tis a shame the bundle isn't motorstorm 2 because I would be happy to pick up a really cheap copy from ebay.

Why is this thread still open?

Because, technically, march 22 is the day to prove it wrong/right.

Add to that the fact that SCEA just said it had "no immediate plans for a price cut" (emphasis mine), and you've got more speculation.
