As long as I can play Netflix, YouTube and blu rays Im good. Plus the new Spotify app will be a great addition for me.
It's not the same. But you still can do that. And more.
I'm not saying innovation is bad, what is bad is when we get to a point where we overlook the main point of these consoles and then complain when niche features are ignored. So, innovation is bad now?
Man, who possibly would use features like YouTube, Twitch, game recording, voice chat, among many other non pure "gaming" features?
I really don't get the argument AGAINST having features. Seriously?
Game developers do one thing and that's develop games. It's sony's job to market and sell the console so that it's in the homes of more people to sell games too. The ability to basically have an apple tv on my tv without having an extra device is a major selling point. And the xbox one is a better media center than the ps4 right now. It might not matter to some but it matters to me.I'm not saying innovation is bad, what is bad is when we get to a point where we overlook the main point of these consoles and then complain when niche features are ignored.
To answer your question though, 80% of people don't use or care about any of those features you mentioned aside from voice chat. Those things aren't as critical as you think.
Exactly, that dude is talking like there's noBut dude... screw Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/HBO Go... what I really want is to be able to stream my pirated media from my laptop (or anything else that they don't have because I just want something to complain about)
But seriously it's extremely safe to say that between what I listed above and blu-ray drive satisfies the majority of what gets used to play media in the average home.
I'm complaining about the complaining for the most part, I couldn't care less what does and doesn't get added. It's just not for me.Source of this mythical 80%? Just saying, most people I know use Netflix along with the recording of gameplay. On both consoles.
If someone looks hard enough, they'll find a reason to complain about anything. I just find it ludicrous to complain about "it does more than just play games"! Innovation is good. Adding features is good.
Side note: I don't care so much that X console does this, but Y doesn't. I just find the argument AGAINST adding features really laughable.
You underestimate the power of the torrent in 2015.It's not the same.
I have a tablet, computer, laptop, phone and other devices for all of that stuff. I don't need it on my console and I think that most people don't touch anything else either, Netflix aside. It's just those who are more outspoken on the internet that make it seem like I'm the minority. Most average console gamers don't even know what DLNA or .avi mean.
Or at least an operating system more consistent with PS4's new OS... I hate the bubbles... and the lack of apps.... and the lack of really anything. The Vita is so under rated, I love it and there is so much potential, but no one gives it a chance. So basically, in this discussion, people are upset that their consoles don't act like their computers.... gotcha.
That being said I thought Sony could breathe new life into their Vita if they would rerelease it with an android OS.
If you really think most people use that feature, then not only are you grossly mistaken, but there's nothing I can say to dissuade you. I don't have any sources as I don't need them, all I have to do is exhibit common sense to see that almost none of both the casual and dudebro market use it. I'm about as hardcore as they come and I don't use it. None of my friends or family use it. People even make fun of it being a button due to most not ever using it. It's not hard to figure it out. Again, it's a case of a vocal minority seeming to be the majority when it's far from the truth.Really? So, a button is dedicated to a feature that most people don't use?
Again, I'd love to see your sources. I take the massive spike in gaming videos on YouTube as evidence enough that it's used pretty frequently by more than a "niche market".
Yeah I don't believe most people use the share feature but, it beats the hell out of whatever the equivelent button on the xbox controller is that I don't even use. I don't even bother trying to share on my xbox one because it's too convoluted without kinect. But, yeah most people probably don't use the feature. It is pretty dang sweet though to be able to post to youtube directly from recorded videoIf you really think most people use that feature, then not only are you grossly mistaken, but there's nothing I can say to dissuade you. I'm done arguing though, if you want to retort then I won't reply... This discussion has hijacked the thread enough as it is.
ive used the share button one time since ive had my ps4 (at launch) and that was because i was playing the binding of isaac rebirth, had a ridiculous set up and blazed through the boss rush mode in like 2 minutes and uploaded it to youtube. its a great feature for thatIf you really think most people use that feature, then not only are you grossly mistaken, but there's nothing I can say to dissuade you. Yeah it's probably less than the little decimal point at the end of gas prices per controllerI'm not sure how them adding a button on a controller is adding a cost to people that don't use it lol
Yea I actually agree with this. I've taken lots of in game pictures to show friends what games look like. But the share button isn't even for the people who use it. The share button is actually for Sony. It's an "advertise for us" button. Sony added the share button so it would be easy for you to tell others about the experiences you're having so that they would want to have them too. It's basically an attempt at encouraging 'virality' (for lack of a better word). It isn't about you.
wait, you mean just adding a button to the controller doesnt magically make it work suddenly?!?! PREPOSTEROUS!You're assuming that adding the share button to each controller is the only expenditure. Share is built into the operating system from the ground up. There's an amazing amount of system resources tied up by the recording and integration. And they've poured a ton of effort into developing the software to make it all work too.
Came to post this.. like with Quantum Break, prefer them to make a better game than to rush out an unfinished broken product.Uncharted 4 delayed till next Spring. Honestly, Colin Moriarty said it was going to happen the moment they showed the demo for it.
I am fine and I wonder if this means we are definitely getting the remaster collection to fill that gap?
I got an email about it. I may have to get ps+ now. This looks like it is based on the comic.Watched the first 2 episodes of Powers, pretty good show so far, if I wasn't so tired would watch the 3rd episode.
I've got both preordered anyway. Hopefully my credit card doesn't expire before Uncharted actually comes out. Now I'll have more time to focus on tomb raider. There goes the TR and UC head to head battle haha I hate delays but if they need more time to make a better game then Im all for it. I wonder what Sony will do for their fall lineup now. Im still disappointed but the reason I bought a PS4 is coming in two weeks so Im still a happy camper.
lolwait, you mean just adding a button to the controller doesnt magically make it work suddenly?!?! PREPOSTEROUS!
I don't know, The Last of Us is about as big as they come and that dropped in early summer. It also did quite well critically and commercially, so I'm not really surprised or worried about Uncharted 4.To me Uncharted screams big AAA fall release so watch that shit get delayed again. Sad. Hopefully Sony has some surprises for us at E3.
likely. LBP 3 wasn't announced till 2014 e3 and came out nov 2014I don't know, The Last of Us is about as big as they come and that dropped in early summer. It also did quite well critically and commercially, so I'm not really surprised or worried about Uncharted 4.
I do wonder what they will do to fill in the last half of the year. Perhaps some things that aren't officially announced yet?
That's what I'm thinking, wondering what it could be... Possible Uncharted Collection or maybe a reboot/sequel to an existing franchise. I suppose Hellblade could also be a fall release, with exclusivity ending in January.likely. LBP 3 wasn't announced till 2014 e3 and came out nov 2014
I get what you mean, but I disagree. It was Sony's biggest release that year(arguably biggest release period if it weren't for GTA) and It was also by the same developer and was similar in design/style. PS4/XB1 may have been released in the same year, but neither really had a blockbuster release.TLOU really isn't comparable considering the PS4 was on the horizon.
