Then buy it on blu ray...not sure what the issue is.

Edit: also aint this game really online reliant as well? And you need a plus sub to play online. So again, not sure the reason for there to be an issue.
Didn't you get the memo? Games that require an internet connection to be fully enjoyed are shitty.

It's one thing if you need to be online to play (not sure if that's the case) but I assumed there was still a single player that could be played offline. And making someone pay practically full price for a game that would be inaccessible when PS+ were to expire seems shady as hell, especially since there would be no way to upgrade upgrade to a digital version from there to be able to do it. If I can play offline by buying a disc version, I should be able to do so by buying a digital version.

Again, this is assuming that non-internet play is possible.

EDIT: This is also taking into account that any PS+ purchase up to this point could be played once PS+ expired. My point, and many other peoples point is, if you purchase a game on PS+ that should be playable offline; you should still be able to play it when Plus expires. But this does rely on whether it's internet-required or not.

I don't care if games are internet-required, just that it's known ahead of time. In this case, I don't know if Drive Club is or not.

EDIT 2: Quick Google search: No. Internet connection is not required for single player. Unless it's changed in the past week.

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/04/29/entire-drivdclub-sp-campaign-can-be-played-offline-new-car-announcements-coming-and-more/

EDIT 3: sorry for numerous edits. Eurogamer makes it sound like you lose access to the content purchased (tracks, extra cars, etc), not necessarily the ability to play single player.

If this is the case, then Im hoping this means single player is less free (like not being able to choose tracks/cars) and more linear in that the game chooses what you drive.

Otherwise, I still think its lousy that the extra cars and tracks would not be accessible in single player.

People love to complain about anything. I doubt a ton of people would take them up on that $49.99 offer even if they could play it without PS+. I get the same deal at Best Buy with GCU for a physical copy and considering this comes out in October, you will probably see sales not too long after release.

Like you said, the game's online component is the main focus from everything I have seen on the game. Competing against your friends and beating their times seems like a big part of the game.

I think the worst part about this reveal is that there are only 50 cars in the full version of the game. More tracks than cars? How does that happen? I'm still excited to play it though. Gran Turismo 6 was really disappointing for me.

All of that. Never said it was online only, just that it is online reliant, as in game is made to be played online. Its like saying COD is online reliant as the main reason people buy it is to play it online. From what they are putting out about the game, its built to be fully enjoyed when played online, its supposed to be very social.

Again though, what serious gamer is gonna run out of the ps+ sub on the quad? Its required for online play plus you get the discounts and free games.

people bitching to bitch.

I'm not going to lie, this isn't going to affect me. Been PS+ since day 1. My concern is what Drive Club really is. If there is a single player that can be played offline, I would hope to god paying $50 for the "full game upgrade" would allow me to still access that. But it doesn't seem like that is the case and Drive Club appears more like a $10 game with $50 DLC.

Plus, with the Call of Duty example, people would have just as much right to complain about not being able to access the campaign if they didn't pay for Live/PS+. if the option is there, players should be able to access it. This isn't Titanfall, an online-only game. It's both. So if the player doesn't have Live/PS+, the game should accommodate accordingly. Remove the option to play online, but allow them to play single player.

That's the complaint people have. Being locked out of single player only content simply because they aren't subscribed to an online service. As of last year, 60% of the roughly 80 million Xbox users had Live. Saying that the other 40% (about 30-32 million) subscribers are SOL in enjoying single player content...it's not something I can get behind. Maybe that makes me a bitcher, but I can't agree that this is a good way to go for games.

It runs counter to all other previous PS+ sales. If you buy something through a PS+ sale, you get to keep it in all other instances even if you decide to no longer be a PS+ member. Seeing as how this thing isn't coming out for months, I'm just going to assume it's a typo or just wait and see what they do. What it should be is that you can keep the PS+ Demo Version of DriveClub as long as you're a member and can buy the full version for a discounted price and get to keep it regardless of PS+ membership.

Well looks like the light bar on the controller was strictly for use with Project Morpheus!  New article states that that was the reason for inclusion on all controllers and Sony has hated that they couldn't say anything when people were first complaining over the reflecting, brightness, and lower battery life...

People slammed Sony for not being forward thinking, but it seems like they planned ahead more than people expected. Hope it can fully replace a Move controller so those who purchase Morpheus (and own a PS4) wouldn't need yet another accessory to buy.

It sounds like that was exactly what they were doing and it makes sense.

That...doesn't seem to make it better. The reason you have an always on light on the controller is because they want you to use it after you buy the ps camera + project morpheus a long time from now? I don't think the light itself is a huge deal anyways, I just think it's a weird excuse for not being able to fully turn it off right now.

Maybe it just a hardware issue where they couldn't really do anything based on the design but who knows.

Your new avatar looks pretty cool. Reminds me of the Atlus Frost mascot.

Looks like the Upgrade for Drive Club will allow you to play the full game even if PS+ lapses.

good on sony to make this change. i mean, would they rather have someone pay $49.99 for the full game and not be able to have it traded in, or would they rather someone pay $59.99 (or less with deals) and eventually trade it in. the smart company would take the 1st option.

I wonder how long it will take for people to realize that Sony listens. Everyone acted like it was the end of the world with Driveclub, and sure enough Sony made a correction. Shuhei Yoshida is always responding to people on twitter and is very good about bring up issues and trying to get them fixed. It is what I have always liked about Sony, they listen to us!

And some PS4 PlanetSide 2 news: 1080p, a "smooth" framerate, and hands-on at E3.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/09/sony-confirms-planetside-2-ps4-will-be-1080p-update-incoming
Good all the whiners will shut up.

Also, planetside 2 is a Quad game, of course its 1080p. That would only be "news" for a xbone game.

Kind of like Update 1.70 was mainly all features that people have been asking for, minus a couple super popular ones but I'm sure they are coming. The Xbox zone has received a lot more updates and some people try to use that against Sony. I just think the Xbox had a lot more issues at launch. The Xbox One does do some really interesting things like Snap and such. I have had both consoles since launch and I don't even use the One half as much as I do my Quad. Unless you count Watching TV, cause the Xbox has to be on to use the HDMI Through.

Hey Timbo you going to E3 this year?

I demand to meet you there!
nope and i doudt i will ever go again it was a once in life time thing i wanted to do plus this year im taking my family on vacation that time so yeah another reason why not. I will be honest e3 is nothing like i was thinking i hear it's pretty water down compared to what it was in 90's and early 00's.

I'm glad I went to E3 back in 2005 when it was still more of a show. However, I passed on meeting CheapyD and other CAGs because the THQ booth had WWE's Edge and Stacy Keibler at the same time. :'(

Just for shits and giggles, I attached a picture of the meeting to this post. Keep in mind, this was 9 years ago. I neither look nor dress like that anymore.

Haha... in my defense, it was 2005 and I used to drink a fair amount back then. Poor life decisions.

Stacy was super hot in person. But since she was sitting behind that table, I couldn't see her legs. However, Stacy was probably only the second hottest wrestling "diva" I've met. Taryn Terrell (turn that SafeSearch off!) was #1.

Still some good previous gen games coming, I know I'll play AC Comet and Borderlands 1.5 for sure, along with Persona 5 and Tales of Xillia 2 and Tales of Zestaria.

But yeah really liking the idea of games moving on like AC Unity and Batman AK, going to be fun to see how they compare to the cross gen games.

I'm done with last gen other than waiting out the Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us seasons on PS3.

I'm focused on PS4 and keeping up with releases there, with some Vita and 3DS ( if they announce anything I want to play) from here on out.

Bought too many platforms and games last gen and it started to feel like a chore to try to dig out from under the backlog. So I'm very committed to not doing that again this gen.

Agreed on the backlog part. I am being very selective with my choices this gen. No more than 3 in the backlog per system and only 1 rpg per system.

Yeah I'm avoiding buying any games I won't start playing instantly, and not playing more than two games at a time on each platform. Also just sticking with PS4 and the portables, and limiting purchasing longer games.

I have more fun just focusing on mostly shorter games I really enjoy than worrying about trying to buy/play every great game.

Dat momentum.

Supposed figures at 115 xbone and right around 200k ps4.

Sony almost doubled up.
Also key to note (that Polygon excluded) is that Infamous was the highest selling new-gen title of the month beating new-gen versions of Titanfall, Call of Duty, etc.

I don't know if that means Infamous is doing incredibly well, other games on the systems aren't doing well, or a little bit of both.

Infamous SS sold 82K according to a poster from GAF. Meanwhile, Titanfall X1 stand alone did 77K. If the numbers from last month are correct that's over a 90% drop off for Titanfall. No matter how Sony and MS try to spin it those sales figures are putrid. Obviously much more so for Titanfall which is an FPS game with a ton of hype and it caters to the US market.

Also disappointing that Dark Souls II and South Park fell out of the top ten but such is life.

Only hardware # for NPD matter.

NPD cant and doesnt include digital. Without including that the software numbers border on meaningless data. Yes SS sold more at retail than x1 but I wonder how many of those x1 titanfall bundles were sold and that doesnt add to the NPD data as they were digital copies.

Id bet that with all the digital sales included for both that titanfall sold more combined.

Still though, great for SS to beat it at retail. Also shows how much titanfall was bought on the 360 as it was the #1 game overall and obviously that was not because of the x1 sales. People obviously didnt buy a x1 to play titanfall as much as MS hoped they would.

Agreed but even without digital sales the numbers are ridiculously low IMO. It just wasn't a particularly good month for the industry overall. Let's see what May has in store.

If I remember right, games included in hardware bundles (regardless of digital or disc) does not count towards NPD's. Could be wrong about that, but not sure I've ever seen that clarified. Which means even Infamous bundles wouldn't count.

Does anyone know for certain whether disc bundles are included in the NPD numbers?
