The 83” C1 is only 71 lbs, which is plenty light enough for me to put up by myself. But unfortunately I don’t have an 81” wingspan, so I had to enlist someone else to grab a side and help me get it onto the wall mount. Easy peasy with a helper.

Crazy to think about the fact that it weighs less than half what the last CRT I owned. That 32” beast clocked in at a svelte 152 lbs! 😳 Now that was a tough tv to handle!

This is another thing with larger TVs. I can handle the weight but don't have the reach... I was able to wall mount smaller TVs fine, wall mounted like 6 TVs 55" or smaller either for myself or family. Current TV is 65" and I couldn't do it. Next TV will also be 65" and I'll want it wall mounted so that's an added expense.

After finishing Ghost of Tsushima I decided to straight into the Iki Island expansion. It has some new ideas and the story is more contained, but by the time I was finished I was definitely ready to move on after play over 60 hours of the main game and expansion.

Just started Clair Obscure Expedition 33 last night and got through the prologue. So far I'm all in. The story is really unique, the music is excellent, and the characters are so far all likeable. Still getting the hang of the battle system, but I think I'll get the hang of it relatively quickly.

Sony's live service push failure has been a sight to behold. Just think of all the single player games we could have gotten instead with the money they've invested into that initiative. I think it's time for Hermen Hulst to be demoted.
She is a perfect example of the disconnect between corporate and gaming. Riding the success of Ass Creed for this long without having produced a single thing is a fucking joke. I see right through her bullshit maneuvers and now she can point at Sony to blame for her failed project, getting out before the entire team gets sacked. And these morons keep giving her a job because she has AC on her resume and 'zero failures', just projects that were shut down due to the plug being pulled.

Or, and hear me out, Sony forced a live service game on them just like they did with so many of their other studios. And, hear me out again, maybe she left because she left or was forced out because she disagreed with Sony.

Either way, we don't know for sure yet.

I know it's hard to compare apples to apples but it seems like she moved on from the creative side of games to the business side of games. Her tag or whatever it's called on her Twitter is "I help teams make games"... she honestly sounds like one of those self-help gurus.

But regardless, I'm guessing this was something along the lines of:
1. Line-of-service games picking up steam, she sees it. Haven was formed in 2021... thing were insanely hot at that time for people jumping into better job opportunities and everyone looking for the next big thing.
2. She pitches the idea for a new studio with a line-of-service game to various companies.
3. Sony not wanting to miss the train and also seeing the same hype train, agrees it's a good pitch given the current market.
4. Years into development- both her and Sony have no real clue how to actually make this work since line of service games seem to be so... random and so many have failed against the established titans.
5. She and Sony agree to just get out now but in order to save face, she decides to leave the company due to "creative differences" and Sony will then come out in a few weeks and close the studio due to "with the departure of Jade, we unfortunately have to shut down the studio".

Okay I played two PS5 demos Blades of Fire and Captain Blood and honestly neither of them I would buy at full price and likely wont at all.

Played about an hour and a half. Blades of Fire is an open world action game where you have to forge your weapons with a weird smithing mini game, weapons have durability, it's a kind of a janky Dark Souls like. It feels like an early PS4 game with okay enough everything. The cool thing is depending on the button pushed you get different attacks such as square being a light quick attack. You can also block with parrying (not super easy to do and not all attacks can be parried), and have to watch stamina. It's really just an open world action game where the main point of the game is to slay the queen, but to get there you have to go through areas and forge better weapons and collect materials and such. Each door is blocked by some creature with a key above their head. If you beat them you get said key which unlocks more areas. That's really it. The story isn't super exciting about the queen seizing areas and the main character fighting in them. The voice acting is good, the graphics decent enough, and the controls a little weird but good. I didn't really care for the limited area open world exploring. It feels like early Dark Souls games but clunkier. Just instead of finding campires you find anvils of which you can make weapons, repair , and rest to get healing stuff back. One of the worst mechanics is when you die you drop your current weapon. This really sucks if that weapon was strong vs enemies leading up to where you lost it. This is a horrible system and just feels like its there to punish you and be more like Dark Souls. This wasn't a terrible game by any means, but it felt just okay. I think it would be a good enough game to get cheap (like $10 or in a bundle is my buy price). I'm not actively searching out the game, but it's decent enough. 6/10

Played about 10 minutes. Now Captain Blood honestly just sucks. This one feels and looks like a PS2 game trying to emulate early God of War/Devil May Cry action games. I thought this would be more like En Garde, a demo of which had pretty good parrying and fencing in it. It's just very janky, not great voice acting, pretty poor graphics, very bad camera angles, floaty controls and action, and just felt so, so dated. I believe this was in the works for many years and it feels like a game that should have come out during the PS2 era. One of the stupidest things was having to tap the circle button many times to break through doors and such. I didn't like this at all, and am likely just never going to play this game. It was just an action game with bad action IMHO. 5/10

Yeah except she worked for Stadia too. There wasn't pressure there to make anything live service; she simply doesn't produce anything now.

I went to BB yesterday... saw the Samsung S90D 65". It was like... starting into the eyes of digital god.

After delivery, wall mount installation + a very nice mount (I know I can get it cheaper from Amazon/Monoprice but if something bad happened, didn't want BB pulling a "you bought a shitty mount" on me), and recycling of my old TV... it would be $21xx (1,500 for TV plus $600 for everything else). Decided to think about it... TV price was fine but installation/whatnot was way more than I expected.

Got home and I thought about how much I hated all of you for making me want an OLED.

Checked back today... and saw the price dropped by $200!! I decided to check other sites in case there were other, potentially better deals... and Samsung's own site had it for the same price and I remembered, Samsung offered trade ins on some tablets I bought in the past and decided to see trading in my old TV was an option and wondered if TV trades were an option... and they were!! Even better, they offered $150 for my old TV vs having to pay BB $50 to take my old one away!! Also saw they offered installation and whatnot for less than BB charged. Easy decision now right!?!?

Well... I'm saving a bit of money now vs yesterday, why not see how much the 77" is... on paper, it was $700 more but after everything else, it was only like $200 more than what I would have spent yesterday for a 65" version: savings from the price drop, getting $150 for my trade in and saving on the cheaper installation with a similar full-motion mount ($220 with Samsung for installation + mount vs $600 at BB for installation + motion + haul away).

Of course I bought it and now I wait. I have to wait for my mount to arrive since they'll need it for installation and current ETA is unfortunately next Tues, I am gonna see if they can rush it over so I can get it installed this Friday and enjoy a nice OLED weekend.

TLDR: I hated all of you a lot yesterday but I hate all of you slightly less today.

You can use the controller on your PC IIRC. Outside of a talking piece on your shelf, that is.

They work wired on steam. Feels very good to use, almost like the nintendo switch pro controller. I purchased 3 from a thrift store for $5 a piece when people were trashing them after stadia shutdown.

Hey, I still think anyone who wants an OLED for the visuals is nuts, don’t put this on me.

77" is what we use for the home theater and couch co-op gaming. You will absolutely not regret it.

Why hate? You’re like me Vinny. Been around a while, too old to waste time on cheap stuff. Live a little! No regurts for me anymore.

I had a 65 inch LG C7 and upgraded to a 77 inch G3. Even when you go OLED, you can always go even more expensive OLED. Those nits and size matter!

PS Stars had its positives, but one of the BIGGEST fucking negatives were the point campaigns for buying games from the store. What sucked was if you had pre ordered/already bought a game, and it came up in the campaign, you didn't get credit or the points retroactively for them.

They also need to look into refunds for games after downloading/playing for a couple hours ala STEAM/Xbox.

Don't care about Hellblade but this means MS is running out of ports and we are getting closer to that juicy Halo MCC announcement for PS5.
I have no desire to play Halo on my Playstation...I played all of them already on the Xbox....and the only one that I enjoyed playing through a second time was the first one. Similar thoughts about Gears of War

A huge negative was that it was only on the app. Whatever they come up with next needs to be integrated into the console OS

RIP PS Stars

Not surprising. This has been pretty bad since day one. I still have no idea what the point of getting those 3d images was.

They were riding the NFT bandwagon, while also missing the entire point of what made NFTs desirable to a tiny group of tech-obsessed weirdos.

Collectible, meaningless imaginary trinkets that only exist in 1 and 0s basically. Good riddance.

You make a little digital shelf that you or no one else will ever see. That part won’t be missed, but what about the effort people put into getting those useless digital rewards? They all just getting wiped out now? As bad as the equivalent Nintendo reward icons are, that is at least accessible and viewable to yourself and friends on console. That’s all Sony had to do.

Opposite for me. Halo and Gears are 2 of the few Xbox owned games I really care about and I can't wait to have them on my PS5 Pro.

I recently pulled out my OG Xbox to test some used Xbox controllers I bought, and used Halo to test them. Obviously dated now, but it's such a rush playing the origins of games that would end up being such marque franchises.

I spent half my gaming life as a mostly Nintendo gamer and the other (current) half as a mostly Sony gamer, but I would 100% play modernized versions of Halo 1 and 2 and Gears 1 and 2 on my PS5. And honestly, a lot of other games from the OG Xbox, back when MS seemed to be able find studios who could make good games (third parties carried the 360, and they basically gave up by the X1).

Can't you just redeem those 3 now?
Yeah, as a matter of fact I did redeem them a little earlier today. But I’d still like to be able to redeem another one. 298 points away. I won’t be able to earn it from the quests, but maybe there’ll be $30 worth of games on sale before the end of the earn period

The anniversary versions of Halo 1 and 2 hold up well. I replayed through all of them in the MCC a few years ago and it's just a timeless franchise imo. I put the Bungie Halos up there with F.E.A.R. 1 and Half-Life 2 as the best FPS ever made. It's definitely a shame how poorly they've handled the franchise since Bungie left. What I find funny is Halo is struggling without Bungie and Bungie is struggling without Halo.

Those two are indeed the two big problems that PS Stars had when compared the competition. You don't even know how to get points unless you check out the app, and if it involves buying a new game, chances are a person has already bought it before they found out about the challenge and activated it (which itself is another problem). These are things that Sony needs to consider in their follow-up to this.
