You do realize you can buy XBLA games without a Gold membership.
Sure, but I was more talking about the tradeoff between the two services, one offers free online play, the other offers an exclusive earlier access to some games but not free online play. Sorry I thought I was being clear but looking back I guess it may not seem like that. My point is that Sony offers free online play, though sometimes delayed release of certain XBLA/PSN games, whereas Microsoft only offers online play through a paid subscription though you do get earlier access to certain games (via paid gold or free silver). I thought I mentioned the free online play part somewhere.

I mean if you don't care about the online play part, of course Silver and getting games sooner and all is a better deal than Sony's for you. Also I think it's pretty fair to say that Microsoft profits pretty well off of their Gold subscription system, whereas PS+ is new to the game so I'm going to leave that out of the equation for now. As Microsoft has many subscribers already paying for the part of their online experience that provides multiplayer online play, I feel like that's another reason why they're able to so readily invest in timed exclusivity deals for these otherwise multi-plat XBLA/PSN games. I guess you could say this isn't true and Microsoft would offer their exclusive advance-release games even if they weren't charging players for XBL Gold, but that's just how I see it from a consumer perspective. It's also irrelevant to me on a personal level when money becomes an issue at times.

In the end, as a personal preference on deciding which console to buy more games for I'm going to pick the one that's free, because sometimes money's a little tight and I value the ability to play online even if I wait longer for games. I also realize a lot of these XBLA/PSN games aren't multiplayer so this position's negated by that point, but on the whole I'd rather have more games on the console that I'm going to be playing more often (I actually gave my 360 to my brother a little while ago). That's the only point I was really trying to make, though not in so many words. Is that okay with you and the other guy that posted the exact same response as you?

I normally boycott EA multiplayer games since they shut down servers, but NFL Arcade doesn't seem to include the 30 day clause in the description. Does that mean they can still "retire the online features"?

Well when you expand the comment, you should also factor in Xbox Live superior matchmaking, party chat, larger user base, etc. It's why Xbox Live is far superior to PSN. For me to pay $30/year (comes to $2.50/month), it is totally worth it for the superior service. It's why I buy all non-PS3 exclusives on my Xbox.

Question about Fat Princess... is there still a community that plays it or is it dead online?

That's my holdup too.

Ended up picking up the Makoto DLC and Monsters (Probably) Kidnapped the Princess.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

Yeah a guy in my class said the online community in Fat Princess isnt strong. Im sure its decent and can only get stronger with this sale. I think im still gonna get it.

I was thinking about getting the DLC as well, but might just wait and put that money towards PixelJunk Shooter

Which is all good, but my only point was that not everyone needs "superior" matchmaking as opposed to the regular kind, party chat, more users and so on. I'm really not trying to start some type of 360 vs PS3 battle. My only point was to show that there are people that have taken all that into consideration and decided that rather than add another bill for extra online features, free basic online play (even if you have to wait a month or whatever longer for certain games) is good enough.

You mentioned $2.50 a month which definitely isn't a lot, but I know that at least to me, having tried XBL Gold, it's not even worth it paying any amount of money for those features. Are the features good/superior to PSN? IMO, yeah they are, but is it enough for me to pay them money for it? It's just not that important to me man, I don't know what else to say.

Anyways sorry if it felt like I was trying to antagonize XBL or 360 but that really wasn't my point. I was just trying to point out that there are merits to how Sony runs its online business model as well, and many people are okay with how it is, even if its lacking features or gets games later (in exchange for no fees). I was actually trying to squash something that would've hijacked this thread earlier and it ended up just prolonging it further and I'm definitely sorry about that.

Once again, thanks to the OP for the deal.
If CAG had mods that did their job, this thread would be about five posts long.
They can't read every thread on the site, so a responsible CAG would report the thread for cleaning.

But that takes additional effort. It's way easier just to complain.
Clearly we all agree XBLA is far better than PSN, but it doesn't belong in a PSN thread. So please stop.
Nope.

Hey guys, I have an idea, let's make a statement to provoke people some more and act like we want the bickering to stop!

This is what it says when I go to report a post.
"WARNING: You are about to REPORT A POST, which will dispatch emails to the entire CAG Moderation Team.
This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and EXTREME problematic posts (threats, fighting, explicit pornography)."
But if it makes you feel better to contribute with more sarcastic remarks or brilliant "eye-rolling emotes" go right ahead.
We all know the ps3 and psn is superior bahaha. Grown men play ps3, little boys play xbox
The douchbag quote of the evening.

Beyond that, it's also good for bringing threads to their attention that are in the wrong forum, reposts, double posts, or threads that need to be cleaned or locked and this at least gets the attention of any mods that are online right now or will be on soon. You wouldn't be doing anything wrong by using it now.

That warning is probably to dissuade people that would mistake it as a PM or quote button and to let them know what reporting a post entails, as has been known to happen in the past before the warning was there.

Picked up Fat Princess and Final Fight Double Impact. After downloading the PSP demos for Patchwork Heroes and Lunar, I'll be buying both of those.

i have 8 bucks in my account.......guess its time to grab monsters probably stole my girl all up in here!! hopefully these minis sell decent enough at the $2.50-$5 sale so sony can learn thats the price they should all be. lunar for 15 is a sick deal but i already have lunar on the PS1
I'm an Xbox guy, but PSN owns XBLA because of gamesharing. Wish there was something on sale I didn't already own though.
You can game-share with 360's too with a little know how ...definitely with 2 systems at the very least ...all you have to do is download the game to the console that isn't your own when you first buy it and the license will go to that console (example: your brothers console). The licensed console will allow any gamer-tag on it to play the full game and as long as you log on to xbox live with you gamer-tag on any other console you can re-download & play the game as well (But if you are not logged in to xbox live with the gamer tag that originally purchased the game it will show up as a demo). Hence a XBLA Game Game-shared Legibly. There are other ways to share with more but those aren't legit.

Has any bought Groovin Blocks? I am intrigued, but I also wanted to download some new Hot Shots Golf characters. Anybody played it or recommend it?

I actually bought Dracula, Patchwork Heroes and Monsters (Probably) Stole my princess. Such awesome games. Patchwork Heroes especially is awesome. Monsters is short how ever but I couldn't argue with the price.

I was gonna pick up Lunar Story cause everybody seems to be raving about it, but I watched a video of it and I'm not really into the whole RPG thing sadly enough.

i got the "monsters (probably..) stole my princess" ... i just beat it, made me laugh hard ... i haven't laughed that hard in a long time, such stupid humor lmao great ...soooo worth 2.49$

If you'd like to try out some of these games for yourself before buying them, these games have demos:

Fat Princess
PixelJunk Shooter
Wakeboarding HD

echoshift
Eye of Judgment Legends
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (Beat the demo and get early access to a weapon to start the full game)
Patchwork Heroes

Is the EoJ:L demo indicative of the full game? I played the demo quite a bit, but Im worried the story mode might be a bit of a mess or may get old pretty quick. Im basically trying to decide between EoJ, LSSH or waiting and shelling out for Valkyria II.

Make sure if you plan to buy the EoJ PSP game play through the demo and buy some cards in the shop. It has one card in the demo you can't get in the full game.

Got Chinatown wars and it is amazing I'm one of those suckas who when I saw the trailers thought it looked dumb boy was I "ignant" it's one of the best gta's I've played liked this more than gta4 kinda sad. I can't believe they have lottery Scratchers in this game btw.

not sure if anyone reported yet, but Wakeboarding HD is actually a lil cheaper if u have PSN+ at $5.99..makes it an instant buy for me..nice price point for that

Anybody wanna join a Fat Princess group that can host? We need 1 more which will make it $1.50 a share. Latest group in the Sony PS3 game share thread.

Has anyone bought the Fat Princess DLC "Fat Roles"? Is it any good?

In for 1, finally, for Fat Princess. And if you don't have it already Pixel Junk Shooter is excellent.

picked up pj shooter and monsters. great games!

now i'm just waiting for a sale for critter crunch and flower
I know I'm being too stubborn, waiting for Bionic Commando to go on sale. It'll probably go on sale the week after I buy it.
good luck on that... it's been on sale alot randomly in the past. doubt it'll drop anytime soon.
