T.O. is NOT loyal to the team, he is only loyal to $ and himself.
I'm guessing you never watched T.O on the field or if you did your perception was clouded by reports and interviews off the field. Reguardless of relationships off and on the field and comments made he always performed on the field. Now I'm not Einstein, but if you perform at your job you would expect to get paid, same goes for T.O. and the numbers show this. The only difference between the average american and T.O. performing is a higher amount of money due to the profession. If T.O. wasn't so valuable the Eagles wouldn't have held onto him longer. The only reason ties have been severed is becasue Philly doesn't want to fork over incentive money in the original contract.

Also, to go on a slight tangent, if McNabb was the leader/general of the team this would have been settled in house and never blown up in the media. McNabb is a decent quarterback, but he is a little overrated and it sickens me how everyone embraces him because of his image. He might be this loveable momma's boy that everyone loves, but it stops there and that is what everyone focuses on when in fact they should be commenting on how he needs to grow a pair and speak up. Instead he choses to uphold this false wholesome/chunky soup image and not say a damn thing until it is too late. If you're the leader of a team you handle your shit instead of letting other players, active and former, do the dirty work.

T.O. probably did deserve more money but he went about getting it in the most ass way possible. It wasn't his actions with McNabb that bothered me as much as his actions with Andy Reid. Players having issues with each other is something that can be dealt with. The second you disrespect the coach though is trouble. You can get away with that in basketball (Stephon Marbury) but football is the ultimate team sport. The man's talent is undeniable, but he damaged his chances of a team ever paying him as much as he thinks he should get.

The Eagles need to start paying some of their key players better though. If there had been a history of that with someone other than the QB, T.O. may not have acted like such an ass. I think Brian Westbrook got his deal because he didn't make a spectacle of himself.

TO has been accused of alligator arms a few times in his career, especially after/during feuds with his QB. This happened with Garcia and arguably so wih McNabb.

Now if your coworker is brilliant at what he does 99% of the time, you can't complain, even if he mails it in now and then. But if his weekends are spent trashing you, the company or otherwise bringing negative attention on your job, that's not off the field. You realize pretty quickly which guys ar pricks and you don't want to work with them, regardless of how talented they are.
Detroit is now loaded with quarterbacks after the signings of Kitna and McCown. It looks like Joey is out the door.

Harrington also requested to be released or traded today, as well.
Yes, Joey is out....although, Detroit wants to get a draft pick at the very least before they release him. They have 5 QB's on the roster...don't forget SHAUN KING. He will battle Orlovsky for #3.

I hope McCown gets the #1 position though....

Hopefully we get a few more players too...a OG would be GREAT right now.

Being a 49ers fan and seeing how great T.O. is on the field and what a cancer he is off the field, gimme no T.O.

Who do you want in the draft?

Vernon "The Duke" Davis.

Good God that would be awesome!

Mario Williams would be ideal but I don't know how well he works in the 3-4 and D'Brick House, this may work with Jay Cutler impressing a lot of people. And if their both gone, then A.J. Hawk, which would make Julian Peterson expendable. If their not there i'd like to trade down, we don't need a TE, no need to draft a T.E. with the #6 pick. I'd prefer it, if we could draft Pope from Georgia or Mercedes Lewis from UCLA in the 2nd round. We need defense, yes Vernon Davis would be a nice addition but it's not what we need right now. Next year though, in FA or in the draft (I hope we can draft Ted Ginn Jr.)

Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE is retiring at the end of July from the position that he has held since late 1989, the NFL announced today.

From steelers.com

I hope someone else picks up Orlovsky. That guy is very talented and I could see him being a great #2 that would fight for a #1 spot.

and if the Packers don't trade down, Hawk is going to them.

I think that Mario will go #2 (Saints), Brick will go #4 (Jets) and that Hawk will go #5 (Packers).

Seriously, I don't see any of those three making it to us!

I guess I wouldn't mind trading down to like, #9, and getting someone like Michael Huff. But I do think we need a tight end, because Eric Johnson is a woman and is injured far too frequently.
The Seahawks just signed a 7 year deal with Julian Peterson. The rumor on the radio is they are also talking to charles woodson.
...and suddenly losing a talented (but replaceable with Womack who can and has subbed in for Hutch) LG doesn't seem so bad anymore :D

I don't see why anyone would want Woodson. He is too beat up and at the end of his career. I still don't know why Al Davis did not cut him a couple of years ago.

Funny, weren't they saying Champ Baily and Shawn Springs were at the ends of their careers too?

I think Chris Spencer will win the LG spot out of camp. He's had a year too better himself sitting behind a talented offensive line.

by the way, F-you minnesota. What did they did with the terms of the contract was complete BS and should not have to be matched. You should have to match the values of the contact and nothing else, not any of those stupid stipulations that can hog tie a team in retarded ways.

i mean whats next? "shaun alexander must receive the most head from the team president in the first year or his contact automatically doubles and all his money is fronted immediatly!"
Don't they still have Vanderjagt?
No, he was cut almost immediately after the season.

Tim Dwight to the Jets.

I'm glad Julian Peterson is gone, don't get me wrong, I love this guy, I remember going to a game in 02 when after every missed tackle he'd do a 5 push-ups. Dude was the heart and soul of our defense. But ever since he got surgery he hasn't played like he use to, 7 year 55 Mil? Wow, the Seahawks just gave a shitload of money to the wrong guy. Shoulda matched Hutchinson.

Winnie, if by #6 theirs no Hawk,Ferguson, or Williams we trade down. No expception, maybe if we traded down to the Vikings which i've wanted all along for their #1 and maybe Nate Burleson. But if we trade down we should look at Chad Jackson of Florida.

What's the word on Javon Walker? I'd love my 49ers to pursue him, after firing Drew as his agent and not being seriously wanted by the Pack, I hope we could maybe trade a 3rd or 4th for him.

Hutchinson would have gotten the full value of his contract had the Seahawks matched due to a clause in his contract.

If i'm Seattle I would've done it in a heartbeat, a pro-bowl guard for an over-the-hill LB?
If i'm Seattle I would've done it in a heartbeat, a pro-bowl guard for an over-the-hill LB?
Peterson over the hill? HAHAHHA gimme a break. The Frisco defense was not the problem last year, the defense was just on the field far too long because of their crappy offense.

Granted i would of liked to keep hutch and not get peterson, but you know what? sometimes making decisions for the future of the team is more important then rite now. Id rather take a LB core of Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu, and Julian Peterson. I think they all compliement each other really well in what they can and will help Peterson return back to form.

Whats with these insane pick trades? Walker would probably command a 2nd round, even after a tough "break" last year.

And if the Vikings were to jump up, they'd probably only need Burleson and a 2nd rounder to do so.

Nobodies gonna give a high pick for Walker. After TO i doubt anyone wants to give a contract or even have a player on his team with as bad an attitude as Walker's.

The shaq fuer wants more money? Maybe he shoud put up those numbers for more then one season and not miss the next. Nobody wants to give a signing bonus to a guy whom you dont know if youll get producted out of his light fronted loaded time in his contact.
Atleast they (the Colts) now have a kicker that can win the big games. Now all the need is a QB that can do that too.
Plus they're burning a lot of cap space on a kicker when they're already in a bad cap situation with Manning and Harrison's deals.

I'm just saying, someone will give up too much to get an unproven guy, in hopes of turning him into something.

Yeah, and after dropping the ball on Edge, its just insane.

Abraham finally went to Atlanta....Denver was involved with draft picks.

So, when will the Lions release Joey....I highly doubt they will get a pick for him. I'm hoping...a 6th or 7th is fine :)

Hopefully they can add 1 or 2 more FA....I like the Rex Tucker deal, since we are short on OL.

Honestly I feel like Edge was gone right after we lost that game, he never said anything that I read but his face after the game told the story, he was gone.
Vanderjagt is at Valley Ranch right now, and word is, he'll sign a contract soon.
that right there is another super bowl making move right there. The cowboys would have made the playoffs with a decent kicker (I know missing Adams was a big reason as well, but the Cowboys lost a lot of close games due to having shitty kickers)

I almost denounced my Mexican heritage after watching the abomination that is Jose Cortez. Thankfully, he's now the Colts' problem.

The Frisco defense was not a problem? Let me tell you something my little friend, when Brandon Moore outperforms Julian Peterson, you know somethings up. Ever since J.P. hurt his achillies he hasn't been the same, wish the dude the best though.

Cowboys sign Vanderjagt to three-year contract
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

Breaking from their recent history of employing young placement specialists who worked for minimum wages, the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday signed unrestricted free agent kicker Mike Vanderjagt, a colorful eight-year veteran who is the NFL's career leader in field goal percentage.

League sources confirmed for ESPN.com that Vanderjagt, who arrived in Dallas on Wednesday to visit with Cowboys coaches and team officials, signed a three-year contract. Financial details were not yet available, but it is believed the contract averages about $2 million annually.

Adding a kicker of Vanderjagt's profile and price range is out of character for the Cowboys. Under owner Jerry Jones, the team's preference has been to develop its own kickers, often undrafted college free agents, and to invest very little in the position. But the Cowboys went through three kickers in 2005, converted only 21 of 27 field goal tries, and suffered all season at the position.

Dallas lost three games in 2005 by three points or fewer, and that may have swayed the team's thinking in pursuing a more proven and dependable placement specialist.

In Vanderjagt, the Cowboys are getting a kicker whose last effort, a missed 46-yard field goal attempt in the Indianapolis Colts' divisional-round loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, is not indicative of his career in the league. The veteran kicker, who began his professional career in the CFL after playing at West Virginia University, has never scored fewer than 104 points and has averaged 124.3 points.

Vanderjagt, who turns 36 next week, has converted 217 of 248 field goals, and that 87.5 percent success rate is the best in league history. He has also made 344 of 346 extra point tries.

The only shortcoming in Vanderjagt's game are his kickoffs, on which he has averaged 60.2 yards. The Colts employed a separate kickoff specialist to handle those chores the past two seasons. Vanderjagt has insisted he can kick off, however, and it remains to be seen how the Cowboys deal with that element.

Good signing, Jerry. Keep 'em coming.
I hope next on the list is resigning Larry Allen
You and me both. But if not, I hope Kosier and Flozell can anchor that left side.

Panthers sign ex-Cowboys receiver Johnson
CLARENCE E. HILL JR.

Former Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson agreed to a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.

Johnson, who was released by the Cowboys last week, received a $5 million signing bonus.

Johnson led the Cowboys in receiving last season with 71 receptions for 839 yards and six touchdowns.
