that's why nobody wants to coach the raiders...cause al davis runs that team and nobody else. You can see how much difference he makes in the drafts....just look at the bucs picks the last few years with gruden and how solid they've been and then the one's with the raiders the last few years.
 
New England scores again with a great reciever, they really know how to make personnel moves and decisions. Jackson should be a great fit with Brady and Branch.

Great value pick, Chad Jackson was thought as a sure 1st rounder, top 15 even. He has great hands, runs great routes, gets separation from coverage. He doesn't have explosiveness and top end speed. Sounds like a Patriots WR to me.

The Patriots had to trade up for somebody, they had 11 picks and can't keep them all. They'll probably trade up again or trade some picks for next year's picks.

He has great speed, he just didn't run those routes in urban Meyer's spread offense at Florida. He did run a 4.32 which was one of the fastest times at the combine.

Yeah it's hard to say who got the better end. Javon Walker is coming off a serious injury and has off the field issues, but if he plays like he did in 04' then it's a steal.

I'm a Hokie fan but I think some character issues are starting to be a problem in the program. Hopefully, Williams will be a consumate pro.

I can't believe the quality players that are still here in the second round of this drat. This has to be one of the deepest drafts I've seen and easily blows away last year's.
 
Rumor has it that Denver was dead set on picking Chad Jackson at 37 before the Patriots swooped in at 36 and grabbed him. They ended up trading down to Green Bay.

I'm trying to follow that trade. Green Bay traded 36 for 52 and 75. They ended up trading for 37, then trading that, too?


If anyone just saw on ESPN the breakdown of Vince Young dealing with coverage, thats exactly what I think of him. An athletic guy that doesn't make good reads, probably overrated... Another Vick. Flawed mechanics too, but thats correctable. He's not polished at all, not ready for the NFL and won't be for quite a while, he's a major project. I'd have taken Leinart. Sucks to be Leinart, could have been the #1 pick last year, falls to $10 and loses about $13 million dollars.

Chow and Fischer could help him work on that. If he wants to beat the skeptics, then he'll be all over it during the offseason and early camp.
 
Man, the eagles got winston justice through a trade with the titans...I was hoping the bucs would trade up to get him but I guess they really had some questions about him considering Monte kiffins son is one of the offensive coaches at USC so they had some inside info on the guy.

If anyone can help Young, its Chow. But its going to be a long time before he's effective. Maybe they should've tried to keep McNair at a reduced salary to help him along, if Young starts, they'll have the #1 pick next year.

Volek will probably start, so there's no need to start Young anytime soon.
 
Ah, here are the details.

Patriots traded 2/52 and 3/75 to Green Bay for 2/36 (Chad Jackson)

Green Bay traded Javon Walker to Denver for 2/37

Green Bay traded 2/37 and 5/139 to Atlanta for 2/47, 3/93, 5/148


Looks like New England either wanted Jackson or Walker, and chose Jackson. Denver apparently wanted Jackson but traded for Walker instead. Walker was in Foxboro for a workout this week, I think he was in Denver, too.
 
I think young will be good, but I think a QB out of this draft that can do very well is Whitehurst, kids got massive amount of talent.

Chad Jackson i'm iffy on, really had a couple of break-out games, but the speed is very tempting. The 40 is probably one of the most-over-hyped drills ever.

I don't think McNair wants a reduced salary especially after he's had to keep restructuring his contract to help the team the past few years, that's how this contract has balooned into such a problem (He definitely deserves to be treated better than he has been, he has some quality character for sure). Plus, the Titans have Billy Volek who played well in McNair's absence last year (and who halfway through the year his agent, one Drew Rosenhaus, was telling the Titans to trade Volek so he could go start for another team) so they don't have to rush Vince Young into the lineup too quickly. That's why the owner and GM wanted Young so they could take sometime to develop him into a franchise QB much like they did with McNair.

McNair won't make much wherever he goes, even if Baltimore wants him. Volek would be fine to start while Young learns the ropes. They really have treated McNair like crap though, after all he's given that team. He's been a warrior for that team, playing hurt all the time is probably why he's so banged up now.
