FAQ

EMAIL EMAIL EMAIL!!!!! If you want to change anything or ask a question PLEASE EMAIL TONY.

[email protected]

0) How fast is the shipping?
He sends out via usps or ups. First class mail-$5. Usually arrives in three days, sometimes more. Priority mail- $6.50. Usually arrives in 2 days, sometimes three. UPS-$8. I honestly dont know how long this one takes
If you buy two games that get shipped together he automatically upgrade to priority.

1) When will games like GTA 4 and Halo 3 ship out?
Both of those games will ship on or one day before street date because they are street dated titles which means I(Tony) should have mine at least one day early. I would pay for priority mail. It is fairly quick. As fast as two day cross country sometimes.

2) When I trade in games to lower the price, will I get the trade in credit as well?
Yes. Not only do you get the trade in credit, you will also get the lower price depending on the number of trades(Limit three per game to lower the price). Games must be worth at least $10 trade in credit. Basically, you get the lowered price and store credit

3) Is this site reputable?
Yes. There have been two threads each reaching 30+ pages and many people have bought used and new games from him. Everyone has been happy with their purchases. If something does go wrong, you can email Tony and he will help you to make your purchase better.

4) How are these considered deals if the shipping is $5
Ok. First there is NO tax. That saves you about $4. Then if you trade in games towards your purchase it will lower the price $5 more(if they are worth $10). Used games are about $20 below EB/GS for newer games. So at $5 saveings per game if you bought 5 games a year thats at least $30 savings

5) Where does Tony ship from?

Lion Games
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098

Phone: 860-738-4336

Email: [email protected]

6) How can liongames.com make money with such low prices?
Instead of advertising, Tony is offering lowered prices and excellent customer service in hopes that you will come back and tell others via forum or word of mouth. He mainly makes money on used games and he has an actual store in CT to further bring in money

7) Who are you? I've never heard of LionGames.com

LionGames.com is a subsidiary of Age of Video II located in Torrington and Winsted Conn. The addresses are as follows:

Age of Video II
1151 Main Street
Torrington, CT 06790
860-496-1798

Age of Video II
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098
860-738-4336

We have been running Age of Video II in Torrington from 1987-present and our Winsted store 1991-present. As you can see we are no strangers to the retail environment.

8) I have purchased game(s) and sold game(s) on the same invoice. What happens now?
Since the game(s) you sold us reduced the total of your invoice, we cannot send you your game(s) until we received the game(s) you sold to us. Mail your games as quickly as possible to.

Lion Games
120 Willow street
Winsted CT
06098

9) I want to buy a game(s) and sell you a game(s) and I want the game(s) I buy right away.
In this case do 2 separate invoices. One for the purchases and one for the game(s) you are selling us. This way we don’t have to wait for your games to get to us before we send you the one you purchased.

10) Am I allowed to trade in so many games that Lion Games will owe me money?
Sure!!! You can even just sell us games without buying one yourself. If you want to sell us more then 10 games, shoot us an email first.

11) Will I be guaranteed the price Lion Games quoted me for my game?
As long as you represent the game condition that you are selling us accurately, we guarantee the price we quoted you on our website. Lion Games noticed some of our competitors have reserved their right to reduce the game(s) after they’ve received the game(s), if they feel the market has changed. We don’t do that. We also don’t put bogus prices on our website. We take a straight forward no nonsense approach to doing business. The only other thing we ask is for you to mail your game(s) to us within 5 business days.

12) An example of a trade-in scenario:

Metroid Prime is $34.99 with 2 trade-ins

Trade in Shadowrun for $25 and Fantastic 4 for $15 would give you $40 credit.

MP is $34.99 (with 2 trades) + $6.50 USPS priority - $40 credit would leave you with a balance due of $1.49.

13)When do I pay off my balance?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is about one month from the release date. Tony will send out an email stating when certain deals are ending and when your balance will need to be payed off

14) How do I upgrade my shipping?

If anyone wants to upgrade their shipping from first class to priority then you can just paypal me $1.50 to [email protected] Please include your invoice number in the comment section. It is $1.50 per game. Also after i make the change your invoice will still read first class but the amount that you actaully paid will be different and the amount paid for shipping is what i look at when i determine first class or priority.

Tony I hope you dont mind that I took some answers and question from your site

Awesome prices as always. Pulled the trigger on AC6 and went ahead and orders CoD4 and paid off my Mass Effect balance.

Thanks again!
Tony:

I really liked how the Bioshock pre-order was handled with the $10 down, and then a subsequent payoff payment.

Is there any way we can see this model more often? If there were incremental pre-order prices up, I'd pre-order most of this Holiday's games.
The problem snake eyes is this. take bioshock for example. it is 5 days before release and as of tonight i have 29 balance payments outstanding. It isnt easy for me to see who is missing because i need to manually match up the orders. iThe balance was supposed to be paid a month before street date. A moth before i had about 100 orders outstanding. On top of that some people are trying to get away with just trying to pay the balance. The other thing is I am doing special that are much closer to release dates now. I started bioshock and mass effect 6 months befoe they came out. So i have to rethink the deposit scenirio.

Tony, will you be adding DS and PSP games in the future? Also I do understand where your getting at and I do like supporting the little guys more than bigger companies. I usually buy games from a independant gamestore called Toy and Gameland in NJ, they usually price 49.99 MSRP games 47.99 their 59.99 MSRP games at 56.99 so its nice to get that little discount especially in an area where its half of NJ tax is applied (so instead of paying 7% tax, I pay 3.5% tax) and they have a system where if you present your toy and gameland card(provided free), you get store credit equal to how much you payed for sales tax which is always nice and a cool incentive to shop there rather than EB or GS.

The only "big" company I support is amazon, since the potential of nice deals and free shipping is always nice and I get my items shipped in a timely fashion.

I do understand that people don't like the price of Tony's shipping prices but in all honesty I find it fair especially for a person with a finite budget on what he can put into his videogame venture. And I wish you luck in keeping a thriving business.

The problem with ds games is the low retail prices> i think after shipping cost it will be hard for me to be competitive in that market. Also Trying to keep up with the three systems i have now is really challenging at this point. I am getting more organized as each day passes. I think blu-ray and hd dvd will be next.

Here's an idea that might lessen the challenge. Don't take in games (new and trade-ins) with horrid reviews. That stock will likely be hard to get out the door and will cut down on the amount of games on your website.

I wouldn't get in to blue-ray or HD-DVD until one or the other wins. I'd bet on blue-ray but never know.

Just my 2 cents.

I have purchased numerous used games from Liongames and I have gotten nothing but games in perfect condition. Some even appear just opened. The shipping is an issue, but if it is anything close to the competition I will buy from Liongames.

I am not sure what type of shipping rates you can get for a smaller business compared to the larger companies. I understand the shipping costs, but it does cross my mind when looking at Liongames for the total cost.

Customer service is the best I have ever seen in a game company without a doubt. :applause:

What other video game business owner would go to the trouble of replying to 70+ emails by himself and post on CAG this much?

Definitely nice to get and provide feedback so easily.

An idea for the shipping charge thing. I doubt this is as easy to implement as it sounds, but how about keeping your regular shipping charge, than saying it's only 1 dollar to ship any additional items. It may also be smart to put a limit on this so your profits won't drop too horribly. But hopefully an idea like this would drive more used sales.

Example, if I bought 3 used games, The first is the usual 5 dollar charge, but the other 2 get a 1 dollar shipping charge each, for a total of 7 dollars to ship my 3 games.

The only problem with this is with your other shipping options. Obviously those cost more to you for shipment to us. Possibly using $1.50 extra per game for priority and $2 or $2.50 for UPS. And it may also be beneficial to make sure no order can mix and match shipping options.

To me, this all sounds more reasonable when purchasing multiple used games. But of course, all decisions are up to you. All I ask is for a little consideration.

I'll be sure to put in some used orders from you in the next few months as I need them. Thanks once again Tony!

That's not a bad idea. Even doing $5 for first game and then $2 for each additional game would be better. And then go higher for priority and UPS. I really don't care how long it takes to ship.

If my halo 3 ce order goes smooth i will be shopping exclusivly at liongames for used and new. Hope there are some good ps3 deals :)

Hey Tony any chance we will see Bioshock shipped maybe a day before release date? just wondering. I ordered it awhile back and had payed in full along with GTA 4 LE and Assassins Creed.

Cant wait to recieve the games and i plan on ordering Many! more games from you both new and used.

Again thanks for the service and goodluck with your company.

And if you offered overnight shipping for pre-orders so I could get it the game the day it came out or the day after that would be awesome. I do know overnight shipping via UPS is pretty expensive, at least for normal people. I'm they give you some sort of break as a business. But a $10 for overnight shipping would be nice.

Indeed.

That would be impossible. Overnight rates would be around $15, depending on how far it would need to be shipped

you are aware that bigger companies like gaymestop get cheaper shipping rates than the rest of us right?
you are aware that bigger companies like gaymestop get cheaper shipping rates than the rest of us right?
if you read my other post, yes I am aware. We have a UPS shipping center where I work.

And being that Tony is running a business and is doing a lot of business with UPS I'm sure he too is getting a shipping break compared to you and me. But if gamestop is getting a bigger break than he is, well that I don't know.

Tony, if the issue with shipping is that you don't know if all 3 games will go out at the same time, you could try implementing the same shipping Amazon has. Basically, when you order, they ask if you want your items as fast as possible or as one shipment. The shippping is then just per shipment.

Obviously the drawback for the user is that they have to wait for the slowest game to get shipped before getting their stuff, but a lot of people don't care and will do that to save some money. Just something to think about.

I'd just like to say that if there was some kind of discounted shipping for additional items, I'd be more likely to buy used games from liongames. The $5 shipping per game is the main reason I haven't bought any used games from there. Maybe something where you have to buy at least three games at a time for a discounted rate. I think alot more of those used games would be selling then.

Perhaps LG could start sending newsletters on a weekly basis instead of monthly, with the focus on used games specials from week-to-week. Gamestop emails us each week, so I don't think going to a weekly email would upset anyone.

The used games prices (even with $5 shipping) are still lower than what you would find at GS. For example, games like Overlord, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, MLB 07 are $39.99 + $5 shipping from LG, versus $54.99 before tax or shipping from GS.

I think a lot of people aren't aware of some of the pretty good deals on used games from LG, and I think a weekly email could help with that.

Hey Tony, I just got your august specials email and I read the part about you wanting to take recommendations for which games to go on special. I want to ask you if you might put Mercenaries2 or Brothers in Arms for the 360 on special? Thanks

tony's shipping charge is a shipping & handling charge. credit card transactions cost money, and do you think his online ordering system built itself, runs itself, updates itself, for free? the games also magically fly from his inventory boxes, package themselves with your individual invoice slip, and mail to you all via a nifty Handlioso Shippardo charm Tony learned from reading the Harry Potter books.

All the above considered, a $48.99 game + $5 shipping isn't that much of a deal *to me* because I rarely buy games above $40. I'm picky and patient. It's competitive pricing for a smaller operation, though.
What's the word on Ace Combat 6 flight stick bundle?

Come on, $99. What do you say.
He probably won't be able to stock this. The flight stick bundle is supposed to be a GS/EB/Amazon exclusive from what I've read.

I unfortunately got the word today and I wont be carrying the flight. It is for select retailers only. Once again the game industry steps on thew little guy. Sorry about that.

The game will ship on tuesday.
The game will ship on tuesday.
So, if I paid for priority shipping ($6.50) and you ship them on Tuesday, then I should definitely see it Friday. That is fine with me as I won't have time to play til that night anyway. But if does not come on Friday I must say I probably won't buy anymore games online as the $10 savings just wouldn't be worth having to wait a week from release to play it. Not to me anyway. And the reason is because as soon as I finish it I intend to trade it in or sell it and as the weeks go by the value drops a few bucks.

As a matter of fact buying this one was my first shot of doing this online stuff. Normally I go into a store cuz I want it the day after it is released. But to save $10 I have no problem waiting 2-3 days extra, but that is the limit.

I would be curious when those of you who did not pay extra for priority get yours. May determine if I do that again. I will post back when I get it so we can compare.

You should get it on Thurs....I wish people would read the FAQ before making dumb statements on here. If you buy 2 or more used games or new whatever condition if the games ship together then the shipping is combined to priority

OK. I really can't hold back on this one. This shipping argument is almost laughable. Free, 99 cents, whatever the cost all that matters in the end is the total cost of the product, how quickly you receive it and in what condition it's in. I could start a business where I sold widgets for $1.00 but shipping was $50 as a good portion of the EBay auctions are structured that way. Tony is already selling games at a loss or very slim margins so your basically asking him to cut those margins even further. I too enjoy getting my "cheap ass" games but I would also like to seee Tony succeed and contiue to provide the CAG community with deals.

Which one is better?

A $39.99 game with $6.50 shipping or a $46.49 game with free shipping.

A combined shipping cost for new or used games should be looked into as it would help potentially drive the quantity of game sales. People tend to buy more when they can reduce that shipping cost over multiple games so it should work out great for both parties. The implementation is another story so hopefully it's not too much of a pain on Tony's end.
hey tony a hurricane might be coming to the gulf and I live in houston, will i have bioshock before it arrives?
if you paid for priority shipping you ahoul dget it on thursday i am not sure when the hurricane is coming. hopefully it doesnt screw up the mail! tony

I don't know you either didn't read it in context or it got lost in comprehension but either way you didn't seem to understand that it wasn't a "shipping argument" at all, but rather me agreeing about a break on shipping multiple items. The rest was just meant in jest, but the fact that you openly admit to raping people when it comes to shipping on ebay is just down right evil and you will burn in hell for that. $50 for shipping a widget jesus save your soul.

It was an example dude. If people can't add two numbers they deserve what they pay for an item. My shipping costs are "reasonable" on EBay although I hardly list stuff anymore as their fees are through the roof now.

I ordered Bioshock from liongames and have been keeping up with this thread to see what's going on.

I don't understand why you're shipping it Tuesday unless that's just the absolute earliest you can get it out by. But, if it's a street date issue, you should be able to ship it on Monday. I know all the big retailers ship games a day early so people will have a chance to get it on street date.

The fact is, even if you ship one day earlier, people won't get the game until or after the street date. But this way, everyone would get it a day early.

That's just my 2 cents.

Not trying to offend you but you answered your own question. I understand your point of getting the game out to customers as soon as he can. And you're right that Tony isn't a "big retailer"; he's doing the best he can.

Tony has already discussed the Bioshock issue earlier in this thread. He's at the mercy of his distributor. He receives the games from the distributor, processes/packages the game for each customer, then mails them. Just takes time.

Suggestion: if you really want to play Bioshock on release day buy it from BB and return the copy you get from Tony back to BB.

I agree with you 100% but Take 2 really screwed up the delivery of this product. My distributor doesnt even have the product yet. This is pretty poor since this is a street dated title. Take 2 timed so my distributor wouldnt get the product till monday. My distributor will then overnight to me and I will be frantic on tuesday to make sure ALL orders get out. I called Take 2 and complained. This is nothing new in the gaming indistry that the little retailer is not cared about. The weird thing is TAke 2 and my distributors are competitors so you have to wonder if they do this kind of stuff on purpose. This would have never happened with a microsoft product.

I really hope mine goes out on tues. Tony, after seeing people playing it the last few days or so with Toys Our Us early sales I really want this game ASAP. I know your doing the best you can, I just hope you can can get them all out.

I will get them out one way or another. I have cleared my schedule for the next 3 days. I wont answer any emails till 10 pm tonight so for the next 8 hours i am working on bioshock and getting some dinner later on.

everybody "openly rapes" people on shipping on ebay. what's so hard to understand about it? you pay less for the final value, then pay a slightly higher shipping charge to help the seller dampen the blow of the fees (our fees get triple dipped on these days--listing fee, final value, and paypal.) maybe you don't think you should have to do that, but if you think about it, it makes no difference how you pay. If you see one item for $10 with $5 shipping, then another for $15 but $1 shipping, are you really going to say to yourself "oh, this one has cheap shipping, I think I'll buy it instead." :dunce:

sorry to go off topic.

sucks about the distribution for Bioshock...I won't cancel my order, but I might have to pick up a copy on wednesday at EB because I can't fucking wait to play this :)

I'm definitely going to be using the "buy it at store, return copy from Liongames when it arrives." That way, I get to have it on time, and still get the fun discount!
what about Metroid?
Metroid is not a street dated title. That means my distributor will get them on street date and i will get them 2 days later. My copies will go out opn the 30th.

This is what i mean by the game business is in the dark ages. LOL
