Pokemon Ranch discussion and picture thread

Not that I've ever had a Shiny of my very own, but I was just curious -- if a Pokemon is Shiny, will it appear in its altered color on the Ranch?
 
I want a shiny Tauros. Although, I'll probably get one eventually considering I've just been breeding Tauros to fill up the ranch with.

one of the computer ranchs is all Tauroses (tauroi?), i went there today
 
Staying at a crappy hotel for the next few weeks for work, and the stupid tv is so bleh it doesn't have audio/video connections. Had to go buy an RF modulator today. As soon as I get my Wii up and running, I'm downloading Pokemon Ranch. Considering I've just started Pokemon Diamond, I hope to enhance my game experience.

Quick question: if I transfer, say, my Piplup to the Ranch just to see how he looks, can I transfer him back to my DS a little while later?

Awesome. I remember the first time I played the game, there were a good number of Shinys on the GTS, but considering I'm only 3 hours into my new game file, it'll be a while before I unlock the GTS, and it'll definitely be longer still before I have anything to trade for a Shiny.

It's too bad that I can't import Pokémon from Mystery Dungeon to the Wii. :whistle2:k

I've got a bunch of Pokémon sitting on my GC memory card from Gale of Darkness. If I want to import those to the Ranch, how would I go about doing that?

I'd probably have to use Ruby or FireRed as the inbetween, I'd imagine, but I don't have the National Dex yet and won't for a while, since I just cleared the second gym. :lol:

I was thinking about that earlier (while I was in the shower, oddly enough). In a way, to would make sense for you to be able to transfer Pokemon from the Mystery Dungeon games. It wouldn't be appropriate to be able to transfer Pokemon from Mystery Dungeon to a Pokemon Stadium/Battle type of game, as it's just sort of entirely different, the Pokemon raising and all. But considering that Ranch is just a way to store and see your Pokemon Mii-ed out, I don't see the problem. However, Diamond/Pearl was already set to be able to transfer Pokemon out because of Battle Revolution, so Ranch is really just an extension of that feature.

I was thinking yesterday about the new Pokemon installment (read: sequel to Diamond/Peal), Platinum or somesuch. I wonder if we'll be able to transfer Pokemon from that game to the Ranch.

Gale of Darkness > GBA game > D/P Pal Park > Ranch

The tv at my hotel is so bad, it's actually discouraging me from playing my Wii. When everything is dark and grainy, how can I enjoy it? My Pokemon Ranch looks plagued by the black death.

Shiny pokemon will appear with their shiny colors also I've heard of people zooming out and their shiny pokemon goes to the normal color and when they go back to normal the shiny pokemon is back to normal I don't have poke'ranch yet hopefully today or sometime this week I can get it..

I thought that was how Dittos worked.

I'm thinking I'm going to fiddle with my ranch today and connect my DS for the first time. I've only just started my Diamond file and have seen probably less than 10 Pokemon, but we'll see what happens.
 
I remember reading about this game a few months ago -- too bad they're charging for it. I may break down and buy it, though.. My wife and I have Diamond, Pearl, Firered, Leafgreen, emerald and all the GC games.

I... I like Pokemans.

Well, normally you can't breed legendaries, and Phione is technically a legendary because it's genderless just like all the other legendaries are. Also, you can only breed Phione with Ditto.
 
I had no idea we were registering each other as Wii friends. If anyone wants to add me or already has (besides UltimoRey, who already mentioned it), let me know so I can reciprocate - I've never really used the console friends list, so space shouldn't be an issue. :whistle2:k

I'm gonna wait on playing Ranch (or my Wii at all, really) until I'm done with my work project. I know I keep mentioning it, but the hotel tv really is horrible, and the picture is just painful to see. I'm a sad panda.
 
I probably can't add anyone til this weekend. Finals on Thursday, and I have to have 30 pages of notes, a fully running blog in French, and a crapload of worksheets done by then. I have 5 pages of notes and I've been working for 5 hours. *ded*
 
I downloaded this last night I played around with it all night deposited all my poke'mon from diamond except my team and a few I need to level up I'm hoping to complete the poke'dex soon would be fun to see also the wanted poke'mon list is a nice feature since it shows where I can get the poke'mon so that helps..

I hope to get some pictures up soon. =)
 
Reviews for this game look pretty bad..

Its starting to look like paying $10 for a Mew and Phione... Can you reset the wiiware game to get multiples?

Can you feed multiple Pokemon games (my Pearl, my Wife's Diamond) into it at once?

Well you take turns, but yeah you can have up to 6 different Pearl/Diamonds connected with Ranch.

OK.. so my 300 or so wouldn't stack with her 300 or so, we'd have to take TURNS putting them into the ranch? Or I can drop my 300, she drops her 300, we have 600?

If A, LAAAME! If they add Pokemon Box functionality, I'm sold, but for the time being I think I'll pass.

I don't see why you couldn't, although I'd hope you're smart enough to not delete your save file with your Pokémon still in it.

I think they stack, but I'm not sure.

When Hayley does up the totals to expand the ranch or move pokemon to/from the DS, she counts both hers and whoever deposits into the Ranch. So I'd think that the total you see at the bottom is it, no matter who drops off pokemon. The Mii/game who's last to trade for the Mew and Phione should get that pokemon. You can see who deposited what in the options, and divide them up by game/Mii, but the default is all. Otherwise, it would kinda suck and they lied that you can put 1000 pokemon on the ranch.
 
Since I'm sick and am forced to stay still for a few hours, I added UltimoRey, ChibiJosh, utopianmachine, GothicWalrus, SL4IN, and lilboo to my WAB. I'm adding more of my random pokemon and some shinies later. Wish the USB slots in back worked so I could move pictures with it.
 
got invited to Paul's ranch (assuming thats gothic walrus). I like taht you named your buneary's bugs and lola. I went tiny tonns and named them buster and babs, but they are still on my game card. Alos liked the hellboy mii.
 
Somewhat related to BattleChicken's question above:

Does it allow for multiple people to have their own "ranch"?

My two kids would likely fight over who got what traded pokemon and whatnot, but I think they'd get a kick out of seeing them with the Miis they've made, and the interaction.

Sharing a ranch would likely end in fisticuffs or at least some angry eyebrows eventually.

They each have their own DS and pokemon carts, I'm sure they'd also each like to have their own ranch....
 
Ultimo: I'd be interested in seeing a pic of deoxys if you have or are getting one from GS this weekend.

Didn't know Flickr only lets you have 3 sets for free. Moved all MPR pics to one set.

Grr, took a picture of my GameStop Deoxys, but because I'm out of town, I don't have my SD card reader with me. It does look different, although not drastically. The arms of the Gamestop Deoxys, which is in Normal form when you get it, are thicker, more square-ish. Deoxys is more overall red, and his head and legs are shaped slightly differently.

...bah. Wish I had my SD card reader... And why the blazes can't you email photos to your email through the Wii?

Sounds like it's in the defense form. You can switch forms in one of the towns at some meteorites.

No, you can't. It follows the normal pokemon formula of one save per game.

When you get it from Gamestop, it comes in the normal form. I just looked up pictures of the different forms of Deoxys to make sure I wasn't crazy. But yeah, the head has these two square protrusions on each side.

If you mean you just don't want to see them. You can go to "deposit details" and switch it to your name. Then only the pokemon you deposited will be shown. Other than you can't get rid of hers.

Looks like Nintendo didn't think about those households with multiple DSes in them.

Battle Revolution allows my kids to each have their own save file... wonder if it was an oversight, or just a limitation on the WiiWare stuff?

I was thinking about getting it for them, but I really think it will end up in a fight. Oh well.
