Pokemopn Manaphy Giveaway -- Toys R Us Sept 29

I'll be picking this up. I've been playing Diamond on and off, hope this one is a high level one because I'm already nearing the end of the game. Probably a level 1 though.

As for the 5 bucks off, maybe EBA if they have a copy.

If past events are any indication, the level will be very low. I was there for the Mew giveaway and he was under 10 I believe.
 
how do the transfers actually happen and do you need to be at a certain level or point in the pokemon game to get pokemon that way? ive got pokemon diamond coming tomorrow from the toys r us sale and yeah itd be cool to get a rare or hard to get pokemon. also is there a way to get pokemon from older pokemon games to use in diamond?
 
I think this is so weak. Manaphy can already be acquired through Ranger. They should give out a true exclusive.
 
The moves are heart swap, water pulse, whirl pool, and acid armor not sure on level.

You download the manaphy with the mystery gift and you get the mystery gift by going to the Jubilife tv station on one of the floors I forgot which there's a man and a woman next to each other talk to the man and put in the word wifi connection then after that put everyone happy now you got the mystery gift..

already got the one from ranger, but another manaphy wouldn't hurt I guess. too bad my local toys r us is pretty bland on the ds forefront.

Some of us aren't willing to fork over $30 for a mediocre game just to download a character.

The Manaphy here is HANDED OVER to you. This is more convenient than shelling out an outrageous $30 to get a dumb egg. I'm saying it's more convenient because it looks like you can reset the game over and over until you get a Manaphy with both a good nature and high IVs.
 
Here's a better approach at it. Which is quicker to do?

Pokémon Ranger
-Shell out $30 for Ranger.
-Spend however amount of time you need in order to complete the game.
-Go online and get the code to access Manaphy's mission.
-Input the code.
-Complete the mission.
-Receive the egg.
-Make room for your team in Diamond or Pearl.
-Use a second DS with Diamond or Pearl inserted to transfer the egg from Ranger to D/P.
-Obtain egg from in-game clerk at PokéMart.
-Run around trying to hatch the egg.

OR

Toys R Us Event
-Drive to Toys R Us.
-Wait until your turn to receive Manaphy's data in your game via Mystery Gift.
-Obtain the Mystery Gift along with a $5 off coupon.
-Make room in your team.
-Obtain Manaphy from in-game clerk at PokéMart.
 
Yeah, I'm going to TRU. This Pokemon isn't ugly at all.

I mean if they were giving away a free Ekans, then I'd need to have a talk with the guy who created this promotion, but they're giving away a Manaphy, so it's all good.

I have one problem with this. I'm sure that if/when I go to Toys R Us to do this, I'll have some kids' moms looking at me like I'm a pedophile.

I am not seeing any other requirements so I am hoping that relative newbies in Diamond or Pearl can still get this. I only have 1 gym badge on Diamond.

You only need the Pokédex from the beginning of the game.

Ah yeah, I meant Saturday. Still have to work though.
 
The limit is ONE COUPON per download participant, you can download onto 2 carts if you want, I highly doubt they would stop you. Besides its a wireless download anyways so there would be no way to enforce a line (since wireless is the only way the DS connects to other systems), I am going for sure to get this. The downloads are unlimited (1 per game, but you can download to as many games as you want) its just that the coupon is limited.
 
You can get Manaphy from other people. It doesn't require "forking over $30". I have a Manaphy and have never played Ranger. It'd be much better if they gave Darkrai or Shaymin, since there's so legitimate way to obtain them in the US.
 
This is just some idle speculation and I don't know the technical details well enough.

We know that this thing is going to be given away through the Mystery Gift. I believe the DS is compliant with 802.11b. If you had the right equipment (a laptop, wireless card, and some sort of software), would it be possible to capture the Mystery Gift signal at the event? If it's just some wireless data, shouldn't it be possible to rig a computer to send out a Mystery Gift signal? It'd be nice to be able to get more Manaphy at a later date, and to share with our non-North American friends.
 
Did Japan even get Shaymin yet? We will probably get them eventually. I also just like going to events cause you get to find other people that play pokemon. Also I would rather wait for legit pokemon than hack them, if it turns out that we never do get them, which I highly doubt then yes, I would hack them or get them from a hacker.
 
Hey, if anyone has two carts, would they mind grabbing an extra so they could trade it to me? I live in ND :(. If anyone does it, shoot me a PM, and we can swap info.
 
Three things to know about this download....

1.) You can only download once per cartridge. This is not a TRU mandate, the DS Pokemon games will only allow you to have one of these "event" Pokemon downloaded to your cart.

2.) Event Pokemon cannot be traded through the Pokemon GTS on Nintendo Wifi.

3.) Be prepared to wait in line a bit. The downloaded takes 2-3 minutes, so depending on the turnout at your store you could be there a while.
 
Can more than one person download at a time, or is it one at a time? Because its gonna be another 4 hour line if thats the case...

I'm still contemplating whether to go. I was obsessed with Pokemon D/P all summer long but I'm starting to tire of it. Then most importantly this is on Saturday (Sabbath), I don't play video games on Sabbath and I'm wondering if I can really justify to myself going to a store to download this pokemon then. I'd have to show up on my way home from church.

Shaymin was never even revealed in Japan yet. They can't even get Darkrai anymore now that the event's come and gone.

2) False. If the event Pokemon has a Classic Ribbon in its Ribbon page, it cannot be uploaded to the GTS. Virtually every D/P Pokemon inside a Cherish Ball will have one. Anyone who claims to have clones has likely used a cheating device as the GTS Cloning glitch does not work due to rejecting the Pokemon when you try setting it up.

Now I am debating even bothering with this because it really isn't worth it to stand in line for 4 hours or more for a pokemon that I already have. I'll be stopping by our TRU but if its as poorly run as the mew event then I probably will not bother.

I'm completely clueless about Pokemon, but my daughter is interested, so would you mind clarifying this a little?

Does this mean if you download this "event" Pokemon, you will never ever be able to download any other "event" Pokemon? Or can you download another one, overwriting the last one you got?

I'm pretty sure it just means you can only get each individual 'event' pokemon once. It won't prevent you from getting different ones later
 
I just picked my copy of Pearl up over the weekend after not playing for about a month and have been grinding up some of my characters..

anyways, definitely going to head over to TRU to pick up the free Pokemon and coupon

it does work, but Im not sure if it needs to be done, I think the game searches for a wi-fi signal at the loading screen.
However, it can't hurt to read the instructions and see if you do need to get the option you can do it at the store.
 
I think you have to type a phrase somewhere in the game to get the option, it might be at one of the shop counters.
 
First of all, forking over $30 to get Manaphy via Ranger isn't a fair thing to say; I really liked Pokemon Ranger and Manaphy was just a bonus to me. The game you pay $30 for is quite good; good, crative gameplay and a decent quest.

By the way, what's a Wonder Card?

And is it really one download at a time? No lines, but long wait? :(
 
I would just try to bypass the line over wireless, what are they gonna do to you, nothing. I have heard of people doing this at other events successfully. As long as you are close enough to the station and can fight the crowd it should work.

Someone on gamefaqs is reporting 10 people can download at once (after calling a store to find out), if thats the case there should be a fast moving line.

Also from gamefaqs:

Wireless Mystery Gift? What's that?
By going to Jubilife TV and talking to the man in the lower part on the 3rd floor, he gives you a prompt to enter words. First enter "Everyone Happy" then "Wi-fi Connection" and you'll have activated Mystery Gift.

When you're at a Toys R Us store, start up the game and choose Mystery Gift on the Continue/New Game menu. Choose "Get via Wireless." If everything works correctly, you should have a Manaphy waiting for you.

It's an in-game card that let's you know you've downloaded an event Pokémon as well as an in-game flag for your game to know you've downloaded the event and will no longer be able to do so repeatedly. Deleting the card will not change anything. Once you've downloaded that event Manaphy, you cannot redownload it unless you delete your game save and restart.

The same applies to the Battle Revolution gifts involving Pikachu, Electivire and Magmortar (Magmortar's password has yet to be revealed). As well as any other Pokémon involved Mystery Gift events.

They probably might be doing this to make sure everyone's doing it right so as not to have to run around helping kids who might not be sure of what they're doing. Plus to hand out the coupons as well.
 
Are all TRU's doing this? I'm assuming so since it's in the weekly add, but I'm getting a little paranoid that I'm going to go to the only TRU down here and they're not going to know what the Hell I'm talking about.
