Well I still have about 15 or 20 rpgs that I have in my backlog for the PS2, so it won't be dead for me anytime soon; just need to pry myself off my 360 and PC games long enough to actually play them.
However, I honestly don't think many companies are looking at releasing any top tier titles for the PS2 anymore. Been some pretty good games that have come out recently, but it does seem that the bulk of the titles are turning into second rate ports of what you'd find on a next gen system. Since the sales are definitely going to be lacking for those titles when an increasing number of people own a next-gen platform that can play a superior version, it's just a matter of time before they stop making them too. Probably won't be long before the majority of titles are weak ports of sports games.
Ar Tonelico 2 and Mana Khemia 2 are probably the only two unique titles that are will be coming out in the next year that I'll end up getting for the PS2. Even then, I'll most likely be buying those used.
