Poll: Is HD Capability Important When Chosing your Next Gen System?
$150 wouldnt make non-gamers(the customers nintendo wants) think Aldi(low grade/cheap) video game system?
Certainly would make them think affordable.
Seems contrary to all the semi-official banter about the Rev being $150 max, and possibly being $100.
A $150 launch price would be insane. Seriously.

I think $200 with some extras would make more sense. And it will give Nintendo room to do price drops in the future.
I'm on your side for the most part, but c'mon man. Stop syaing "M$". Haven't you grown up yet?
WTH? I'm 22 and how does using an acronym make me a child? I'm just don't want to type out "Microsoft" all the time. I do the same thing w/ Nintendo by referring them as Big N.

My sentences are long enough already, let me get away w/ being at least a little lazy.

Edit: Alright, alright. I'll start using MS.
100/eye? I don't know if I'd trust that....

Saying you want HD support because you have an HDTV is as valid as saying you don't care about HD support because you don't have an HDTV. Certainly if I buy something I want to use it. I don't buy things that use that thing, *just* to use it, but if it's a choice between, say, a 5.1 DVD and the same dvd in 2.0, I'll get or listen to the 5.1 to use my HT. If I get a PS2 or Xbox, you can bet I'd be getting PS2 or Xbox games to use on that console. I'm sure there will be the 'graphics whores' who talk about how amazing a game looks, but don't mention how it plays. But that's nothing new, every gaming magazine and site has done their fair share of that back to Genesis days.

I also personally think online gaming [actual online gaming, not just 'downloading content'] is overrated and has taken too much of the 'front page' focus, and I worry about the 'micropayment' system MS is using fo rthe 360. But that's another thread.

Aldi: Well, lots of people first give attention to price, or at least, price does factor in their decision. Personally, 85% of the stuff I get from Aldi is equal to or better than their equivalent name-brand items, and for 10-50% less cash.
Aldi was just a example, Their food is really pretty good I just buy my meat from another store but besides that they get all my no meat food purchases. I LOVE their chips better the the frito lays and name brand stuff IMO.

He means the $. MS not M$ please.

"Right - consumers want more for their money. But how many of all the features a new electronic device offers do most consumers actually use? Take a digital camera for example - I contend only three features: The auto-shoot, movie recorder, and the replay. Yet you also have a huge number of personal settings you can use. Do people use them? I think not."

No disagreement here. But most companies who offer all those features *know* that. They don't care if consumers use them, they want consumers to think 'more = better' and buy their stuff. Massive feature lists is one way they do that. The power of this concept is lessened recently, with widespread information easily available on the internet, but there's still a lot of people who either don't use the internet as their main research tool,or don't really know where to go to find that information.

I think a price point of 150 could work both ways--one, 'Wow, what a bargain!" And alternately, "Wait a minute, if this one is 150, ndthese others are 300 or 400, this one must suck". And Nintendo does have a 'reputation' of skewing toward a younger market [note, that does notnecessarily represent reality, it's an 'average' consumer's perception].

How so? If they're able to profit on the system at $150, they're going to go for it. They want to separate themselves as much from the PS3 and XB360 as possible, by being much more affordable and different. THere's been a LOT of talk on this, and most people believe it's going to be $150. Nintendo officials have been dropping hints on it all the time. This is not the place to discuss this. THere are plenty of rev threads out there. I recommend you read them, because they all point to a $150 price tag ($100 is less plausible, but all signs are pointing to $150).

However, I have no clue what your opposition to a $150 revolution is.

I didn't mean "insane" as in "crazy, stupid." It's a hard balance between being priced competitvely but not being labled as "cheap". Everyone loves a bargain but with no other device out there to guage the Revolution against, agents of Sony and MS will try to brand it as cheap and gimmicky.

Having it at $200 but WITH extras seems like a better marketing strategy.

And like I said in the above post, it gives Nintendo room to do price drops when MS and Sony do. If they start off at $150, how far down can they go while still making a profit? True, they may never need to drop the price but it may help fuel demand.

Too tired to better articulate points, but you should get my idea.
for the first time in this topic, I 100% agree with echo
I take it you're referring to me, ECOfreak. ;)
We are still talking about this?
Sure - what's the topic we were focusing on?
