No, I think it means you'll have to pay to be able to participate in any other seasons they do.
That makes sense since they will have a new set of achievements per season. Also, it's not too out there since they will be giving away prizes. I'm hoping they keep it at 400pts per season but I'm sure it'll be at least 800pts.

The more I think about it, I actually don't mind this to much.

I think having it pay-to-play will make it "less" cluttered, since it's also limited to Gold members and you need to be 18 and over for prizes I think you'll have a "better" chance of actually participating in the Mob and what not.

I dunno, probably won't make a big difference but I just don't see any other reason to justify paying per-season regardless of achievemtns and prizes.

If it's pay to play, people won't pay to play. You'll get increasing diminishing returns to a point where no one plays.

400 per season is fine if there's no cap on how many times you can win in a season. I could see this as an excellent catalyst for the gambler in all of us.

I read somewhere that you'll be limited to 1 appearance as the "One" per season and 1 appearance in the "Mob" per episode. That will cut down on people even having a chance to win multiple times since it's so hard to win as a member of the crowd so I don't think there are limits past that.

Lame :(.

Anyone know what date this goes 'Live'?

I think playing the pilot season will give us enough info to let us know whether successive seasons (if they actually do charge) will be worth the MS Points.

I don't think people are going to pay anything over $5 per season though. That would definitely be my limit IF it seems worth it.

Looks like the US beta isn't too far away. The dashboard has an advertisement that the beta is coming soon.

On another note, tonight's Live session saw the first One win by defeating the Mob. Too bad for no prizes during beta.

I guess i've used all my free month trials or maybe they don't do it anymore but I just made a Canadian account and i'm a silver. Wonder if a 48 hour code will work? Hmm now to find a 48 hour code they used to be 20 for a dime when everywhere was giving them away.

Hmm... I was able to download it on a US account.... and I have friends playing it on US accounts.... but I cannot find the "play" button on my console.....

It's not on the marketplace and you can't download it untill it's actually running or about to start I assume. Then you just click one of the ads on the Canadian marketplace and it'll give you the option to download it. I almost forgot about playing tonight but I managed to check it out for the first time. It seemed like it would be fun once they have normal questions as every freaking question was Canadian related tonight. I did miserably except a few I somehow knew plus lucky guesses. Hurry up American version!

The main thing I don't like is that they are saying what you do in the extended play everyday will greatly influence your chances of making the crowd, mob and being the one. That's great for those who can play every single day but could rule out casual gamers and 2nd/3rd shift workers. Oh well it's free though so whatever...

I downloaded it from a Canadian friend (tried joining him and it let me download it) but I couldnt run it from the dash or anything. I tried joining his game which started it, but it kept erroring so I would get booted to the Primetime section and that would be it.

I wonder if this means that it'll be this week, maybe even tomorrow night?

I'm almost wondering if it will be shown again at E3 (rumored to be shown) and then let everyone know it's now available on the marketplace.

As pointed out by Joystiq, 1 vs. 100's twitter tweeted that within the next 24 hours Microsoft will announce the release date for the 1 vs. 100 US Beta. That tweet was tweeted 3 hours ago, meaning that the announcement will be within the next 21 hours. When Joystiq asked Major Nelson he said, "The 1v100 team put that up. So, yes it's real." The Canadian Beta has already been released...

All discussion related to 1 vs 100 goes there.

It can't be the day of the conference since the primetime shows are Friday and Saturday, I believe. I could see them doing a few beta shows before E3 and then announce the start of the pilot/beta season during the show.

The person who made the post didn't post it so i started a post. Just because someone somewhere commented about it doesn't mean i can post it...

I'm really hoping the beta just starts Friday to get 2 weeks worth of shows in and then launch it at E3 barring any major issues found with the game. I'm looking forward to this a lot.

# A few more things need to be in place before we can share the good news w/you. Unfortunately, it's taking longer than expected. Stay tuned.

damn, I hope they announce it today. Be nice if they go "Hey, you can check it out tomorrow"

There's a Sprint thing in the 1 vs 100 section of the Spotlight channel that mentions something about its appearance at E3, so we may not hear about beta nights happening before then. There is a new video preview on there for now.

2 weeks worth of what? Beta?
Isn't the entire first season considered beta? Thats what I got from the ads as it states beta season. Plus the 1st season is free.

And when the hell are they launching this thing.

They've just been doing beta shows for Canadians and haven't started a season yet, so most of us are expecting beta shows before the season starts.

I don't mind the limitation on being the One multiple times, but paying for it, in addition to needing a paid gold membership, *and* the limitation, seems like a little much. Especially when (afaik) there will also be advertisements in-show/game.

well we don't know how much itll cost yet.
but is it really that much? xbl is something you have anyway and marketplace has been ripping us off for years.

I managed to actually get into the show tonight via a Canadian friend and I wasn't actually denied entrance, despite using an American account to access it. It was pretty cool, though there were issues with it kicking me back to the lobby and then to the Primetime channel so that I had to start over again to get back in.

Many of the RagTag's played tonight as well. When a group of 4 of us joined in right when it began, it dropped us directly into the mob. We stayed in the crowd the entire time after that.

I hope US players are better than the Canadian ones, they were missing awfully easy questions.

Have someone on your friends list that is Canadian and is playing the beta and try to join them, which will ask you to download it. Just try to play with them again after downloading it and it should at least try to start up the game if it'll let you.
