Big score at Gamestop tonight -- complete, perfect box MMA. Woo.

P.S. - Selling a new/unopened Joetsu L2/R2 grip for a Slim/2000 at a special low price for Vita thread posters.

I picked up Little Deviants used at GS for 2.99 today. Looks like they have marked it down online and in-store if anyone is interested.

I can pick it up, but I'm really hesitating because my backlog will grow bigger... is it worth 40 bucks?  I'm not really into the collector's edition because I end up throwing away the extra crap.

Btw, (if I do get it) does anyone have any Gamestop credit they can sell for paypal?

I didnt know it was YMMV for store to store, I've been to a couple GS in my area and they always try to sell me on if you see it online have it set for delivery to that store and save on shipping (which is what I ended up doing for my Blue PS Vita) and yes Aegis of Earth was store to store but the couple GS I have been to all offer this to me.
I never found the option to ship to a GS store to pick up, where is that? I always have to pay that $1 handling fee for each item ordered.

Things looked like shipped from any GS store that has item in-stock randomly (BestBuy seems also do that), some packed good, some packed like crap, and used a 3x2x1 feet box to ship a pack of 4 AA Lithium batteries is the most insane one I have ever seen. Box conditions varies depending on how that store kept the item.

You know you've got a problem when your list of "Games to hunt for" also has a "Backlog" list next to it in Google Docs. Also, your Chrome home page across all your devices is a personal website that links to each system organized by generation that goes to your "Games to hunt for". I am fairly certain I am not alone in this... concern.

The struggle is real.
I hunt for all games even if I have them. As long as I'm saving and it's tradeable and I find it at goodwill etc. I am buying.

if you don't want the ce I would suggest seeing if you can get the regular cersion cheaper. Personally I don't rec picking this game up. Its not a very good game. long with terrible pacing and far too many important scenes happening off screen, too easy, mediocre story and bland generic characters like rean to completely unlikable ones like glasses chick and rich douche bag blonde kid jusis. I would say the best price for them would be 5-15$ range honestly.

the battle systems turn based like arc the lad twilight of the spirits where you have a circle battle field and attacks have aoe/line ranges. It also has a turn order gauge like ff10's/blue dragons ect So you know when each character an enemy gets a turn and how far back using a move puts them on the list for their next turn. I like it but there aren't many enemies in each area and the combats mostly there just to be there. Its not remotely difficult so it got boring quickly. Especially since you have to go through the same field area multiple times due to forced kill monster x or get fetch quest item y.

It can't possibly be as bad as Lord of Magna Maiden Heaven on the 3DS. A game with basically the same combat system there, except even the weakest encounter took upwards of an hour because every map was full of damage sponge monsters that spawned more monsters every turn. And just for flavor, sometime there were monsters that spawn the monsters that spawn more monsters, with even more HP, naturally. What a @#$%ing slog that game was.

I could not bring myself to finish the game twice for the Plat, one time through the game was enough. Way to many cut scenes, half the characters are pretty annoying and most of the time you do not get to decide who you want to party with. I think that if i was able to choose the people i wanted in my party for the entire game would of liked it more, but half the time i got stuck with the ones i do not like.

The CE collector in me is itching to buy Trials of the cold steel.....I think i know of a place that still has it sealed, just wondering if i should bite... (goes and looks up gameplay videos...)

Edit also, did they ever say how many copies was printed of the CE?

I would say yes. As you can see from the 2 posts in front of yours, opinions are going to vary on every game, but personally, for me, Cold Steel is the best RPG I've played since P4G. It's long, but it's a lot more immersive IMO than any JRPG I've played in 4-5 years, and I like that you don't have to grind in it at all.

It's also probably worth pointing out that the PS3 version of the game has an 86 metascore, which is really high for a non-big-budget JRPG.

If the CE collector in you is tempted by the game, it's probably worth mentioning that the CE box is made of some of the heaviest, highest quality cardboard that you'll see in a game CE.

yeah that bugged me as well. Especially since some characters like gaius and elliot aren't useful past early game where their spells/attack skills hit huge areas and can one shot stuff reliably. for me I like to have laura fie millie. if sara and angelica could of stayed party members instead of being temps I probably would of bumped millie out and maybe fie. Especially since her main use is being immune to physical attacks is a equippable gem. laura is prettymuch the best partymember due to how op she is. give her the double attack power or whatever stone, reans regen cp master stone and a couple atk increasing stuff and she's a one shotter who regens 70% cp back every turn.

Sadly none of the big companies have ever chosen to reveal how many copies of their "Limited Editions" they've made. So far only FanGamer and Limited Run Games have publicly stated production run numbers to date. I hit up NIS for some figures once before and never heard back from them, though must confess I've never asked Tom (XSeed rep) for numbers on their L.E.s, but those numbers might be difficult to get out of them as some of their "L.E's" didn't technically have standard editions in Region 1 (North America) despite how I've chosen to record them in the Vita R1 Directory. So on the games where the Limited/Special/Whatever Edition is/was technically the only edition they (Marvelous/XSeed) released those numbers could potentially be a bit more difficult to obtain than on their older special/limited editions where a standard edition was also available.

In other news.

Trillion: L.E. arrived in the mail yesterday and the MegaTagmension L.E. arrived in the mail today! Still no sign of Futuridium.

Ok, been looking more into Trails of Cold Steel... and the CE says it holds both games of the duology... yet... a 3rd in this series is coming as well.   It seems like an oversite... or is 3 not part of the story or something?

I think what happened was that XSeed/Marvelous were left in the dark concerning a 3rd game and were left to assume there would only be two games in this series. Remember that Marvelous/XSeed has nothing to do with this game in Japan, they are only the licensee/English version publisher. Would not be at all surprising for Falcom to have left them in the dark concerning the possibility of a third installment.

They announced Cold Steel III around the time CS I was being launched over here. Funny thing is Falcom admitted that the Erebonia story arc is taking too long and they want to wrap it up.

BUT...maybe Xseed will give us a separate CE for Cold Steel III?

Woop, found a mint and sealed Vita Cold Steel CE.

2 is coming out this year, 3 is still in development. It's also not certain what platforms it will come out on here. They already cancelled the PSP/Vita port of the third Sky game.

I may just grab a used standard version of Trails of Cold Steel.  Also looks like Shinobido 2 was converted from new to Used.  So if you've waited on it, it's not a bad deal at GS.

that's hilarious they are complaining it took too long when they waste 50 hours on fetch quests and crap.

Read some reviews of Trails of Cold Steel, and it sounds like at least half the game is cut scenes. No thanks.
It's a JRPG, I wouldn't see Trails of Cold Steel is any different then other games in the genre. The main reason to play a JRPG is to enjoy the story.

Just got an email that my Futuridium has shipped too!

Yep, you're both right, and it just reinforces the fact that JRPGs really don't appeal to me at all. I know that the Vita has many games in the genre, but I just don't have the patience for them. Love action/rpgs though, would be great if the Vita had more of them.

I do enjoy some DRPGs though, like Demon Gaze.

I like jrpgs but it gets harder and harder for me to beat them now as an adult compared to when I was a teen in high school.

I could beat Lunar or a Final Fantasy game in a week or so. It took me 6 months or so to beat Tales of Heart R :/

Yea, I just keep buying long ass RPG's and then play about 10hrs max before stopping -.-

I love the idea of RPGs but I rarely if ever have the patience to beat them and usually grow bored quickly after a few hours. I'm getting better but usually just play and enjoy kind of mid length games like 10-20 hours at most. Good value but I usually don't lose my patience. Or some game I can  play a bunch like Enter the Gungeon or Pocket Race Jockey or Overwatch in the future...can pick up and play anytime.

I know that's what's going to happen so I don't even open them any longer.

Kind of hate that I'll pick a shorter and mediocre to bad game over all the massive and great games I have just because I'm more likely to actually finish it.

You just have to play a good game that hooks you. Hearts R is not a good game. I did 2 rpg binges last year(Xillia and Star Ocean 4). Feels great finishing a jrpg in a week.

99% of the time I skip the cutscenes... Gameplay, all I care about.
Absolutely disgusting.

For those that have been waiting, it seems amazon has lowered the price of the vita LE for Cold Steel to $40 as well.

I felt it was....alright. I beat it because i put too much time into it just for me to give up.

Honestly, the last Jrpg i played and got totally hooked on and loved it every step of the way was Tales of Vesperia. Such a good game and characters.

You know what.....

...

...

...I'm not gonna lie; that's pretty true.
The part that makes me sad is they could of switched that out with the sections where the other party members go off to new unique locations you'll never get to see or hear of. Like the unexplored tropical island ruins or the casino city. Instead of just giving the occasional summary of oh yeah we had to deal with stupid crap too on the occasion where characters wern't fighting stupidly with eachother. jusis and machias was one thing (that got resolved far too quickly) but fie and laura just felt stupidly forced just to because they could. In fact the casino city would of been perfect since that could of been used to develop qrowe or however his name is spelt and done a better foreshadowing on the main villains goals and crap.

Hearts r has good gameplay its just not all the party members are fun to combo with and they don't give you them until 20 hours in or so. If the game had been released with english voice work on ps3/4/steam I think it could of done better. Its great for what it is though.

Agreed on vesperia. it just has that spark to it. the cast the gameplay just really all meshed well. can't say the same for zestiria which was just such a mess.

rpg wise I definitely get bored with some of them these days. They really need to cut down and make them shorter. 20-40 hours would be good. Unless you feature a really engrossing story or likable cast and gameplay its hard to keep entertained for 60-80 hours some of these games take anymore. This is a problem across the board though that even old games back on ps1 suffered from. I think one thing the games could benefit from is a encounter toggle feature so you could cut down battles when you want.

party member distribution issues was something hearts r and cold steel had in common.  I wish games would just let you use whoever via clones like narikiri dolls from tales of ignoring story reasons.  Much more fun when you can build a party whatever way you want vs being limited to characters you don't like.

I just realized that my save game data for Earthbound is probably gone since the battery in the game cart is more than likely dead, and I was so close to having everyone to level 99. Likewise, likely going to have to replay Lunar: The Silver Star because even having my game saves on both the Back-Up Cart and the system is no guarantee that the save data hasn't corrupted after ten years. Such depressing conversation we're having. And there's FFVIII, I was on disc two or three when my Commodore 64 monitor died... in 2003 or 2004 and haven't gotten back to playing it either. And was in the next to last dungeon of Phantasy Star when... when I bought the Vita... in 2012. I should probably do something about this.  :whistle2:k

I got the feeling that they wanted to do that so they could expand and make another game about it. If that was the case it clearly backfired and even Mr. Falcom CEO wants to move on.

As far as Fie and Laura, they needed another conflict somewhere...but yeah it could have been used on different characters.

Your depressing me. You also make me want to hook up my sega cd to see if my saves are still there....especially that Popful Mail one.

What's depressing is how much money you would have if you had realized back then you wouldn't finish them and just not bothered to open any of them. ;)
