I've never understood why they switched it in the US. It happened at some point between FFVII and FFVIII, I know, but what was the point?
So circle = "yes" in Japan and cross="no". However, in the US (all of the west?) it is typical to 'put an X in the box' to affirm something and leave it empty (like a circle) to deny selection.

I'm pretty sure they changed it to match these conventions.

That's pretty much it, just cultural differences, and no sinister master plan. LOL

Honestly, for as long as I've been gaming, I very rarely pay attention to which button is labeled what, as each system has always been different.

Only until recent years where games have quick time events, where a specific button needs to be pressed at a certain time, have I ever had to be concerned.

So I made a BOGO order with Play-Asia a while ago.  Last night I received two emails, one for Dokuro and one for Miracle Girls Festival that both read:

I did as well for the same games as well. Which really irks me because before that I was informed they had 2 -3 vendors working to get the games ready for me -_-

It was never actually stated why they opted to flip after they standardized on O = Yes / X = No in Japan. For testing in Japan though an O is an OK/Yes and an X is a Miss/Wrong. In the USA an X on a test means the same thing. If you get a test full of X marks on it, you did bad and I think that's universal. Marking an X in a box is not very common outside of medical forms. For voting, test taking, and the like they want you to completely fill in the box or bubble. Still, it was never actually stated why the change.

MY opinion is, they based it mainly on reading direction and ease of reach to press the buttons. Japanese people read right to left. So they would expect a Yes/OK to come before a No/Cancel. So O makes sense. Americans and most everyone else read Left to Right and are used to seeing a Yes/OK on the Left. So it makes more sense to go with X. Nintendo on the other hand had A and B with the A on the Right for so long they standardized on it from the beginning and retrained the world with their system. Most people probably never really thought too much about this and just accepted the button layout as is. Nintendo did the same thing with X & Y... X is on the Right as if being read from the Right.

If you look at what Microsoft did though, they use the same A, B, X, Y as Nintendo but they flipped them so they read from Left to Right.

I think reading direction is the main overall reason along with ease of reach to press the buttons (which is nice as often these actions are side by side on the screen anyway).

I got the same thing. My B1G1 free were Miracle Girls and Persona 4: Dancing all Night. This after waiting for over 3 weeks, and with multiple emails from them telling me not to worry and that the games will be shipped. I've never ordered from them before, and only did so after they were recommended from people on here. But at this point I'm feeling that I may have been scammed by them after I had placed another order for Gundam V and Moon Dwellers, and had paid over $140 for the two, including the $20 Fedex shipping. First they said that the games would be shipped in 1-5 days. After the 5 days had passed, they then updated it to another 48hrs. That had passed, and then it was another 24hrs. Now it's back to another 48hrs. That's 4 games ordered, and none had been shipped.

I replied to their email stating that I didn't want any other games on that list, and for them to just cancel my order and issue me a full refund. If they won't, then I will have to file a dispute with Paypal to get my money back. I hope you guys had better luck with them then I did!

Edit: On a separate note, I had ordered Gundam Breaker 3 PS4 from YesAsia for $49.99 with free shipping, and got the game here in the US in exactly 2 weeks.

All three of mine are together (YS VIII, Danganronpa 3, Rose in the Twilight).

Gotta get that free shipping somehow!
I normally just do 2 items to meet the requirement, and then I try to pick 2 that have a similar release window. I think I have 4-5 outstanding orders, and I don't know what's with what, I guess I should look in to that at some point. LOL

Both the YS VIII and Danganronpa 3 Limited Editions are over $75, no need to bundle them together.

It's not a huge deal to me, though. I'll get them eventually. God knows I have more than enough games in my backlog to hold me over until then.

If you ever wanted to, you could just contact them to break up the orders if need be, as that shouldn't be a problem. But I'm with you, it's not like I'm playing any of these games anytime soon, so the longer they take to ship, the better. As my wallet says Thank You! LOL

I've been cancelling and reordering Exist Archive PS4 every 12 hours for 5 days. I actually hope it bottoms out soon, because I'm getting sick of this.

I've tried this on other items in the past, and liked others have said, sometimes they ship it quickly, even with slow shipping selected.
If you're getting sick of it, why don't you stop doing it?

I feel kinda bad that some people aren't getting their Play-Asia orders at all, and I got four games for the price of one.
When "deals" happen, there are always winners and losers. You just happened to be a winner this go round, enjoy it, as you may be on the loosing end the next time. I've gotten some pretty sweet deals around here over the years, and I've missed out on just as many(if not more), it's the way of the world, nothing to feel bad about.

I remember picking up the steelbook of Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii, brand-new, for $20. Every time that I see that that game show up in the local used game store's glass case with a price tag of $60+, I grin to myself. My copy is still complete and in like-new condition.

Yeah, sometimes you get in before the buzzer, and sometimes the deal gets away. I got in at the right time for Metroid Prime Trilogy. But I ended up having to pay $120 for a copy of Suikoden II. I missed the boat on that one, and ended up having to pay through the nose for a physical copy. Thanks to the internet and CAG in particular, it is a lot easier for me to stay on top of the best deals. These days its more of a choice on my part, as opposed to a missed opportunity that I didn't know about in time.

I think my copy is still unopened, like my tales of vesperia CE

I still have 2 sealed Metroid Trilogy SBs around here somewhere. Bought both sub-$30. One was on clearance at Sears.

Still have a sealed second copy of RCRDX around here somewhere.

I raked in the dough some years back when the very fiirst Super Wal*Mart opened in the area and old inventory from other regional Wal*Marts got shipped to that location to be clearanced.  Mind you this was fifteen years ago (2002) and they got in factory sealed SNES and Genesis games. More specifically though they got in pristine factory sealed copies of Super Mario RPG (SNES) and Barbie (Genesis) Needless to say I bought all five copies of SM RPG they had at the "everyday low price" of $4.96 and sold off the extra four factory sealed copies on Ebay for around $120 each, and a couple sealed copies of the Barbie game at around $35 each. And mind, this was back in the days when BIN was a feature you paid extra for so practically no one ever used it, those were the prices those games ended at in auction.

Got 6 copies. Paid $17 each.
Well I got 7 copies and paid $16 each.

Wait what are we talking about?

Sometimes I hate when games jump up in value when I bought them to play. I would like to open my Breach and Clear, Ar Nosurge and Metroid Prime Trilogy but can not bring myself to do so since I know it cuts the resale in half even though I know I would not sell them.

This is exactly why I've sold so many of my game collections over the years. It starts off collecting to play games, but then the backlog gets HUGE, and then when you finally get to a game, it's worth "x" amount, and I no longer wan't to play the game for fear of damage, or a lesser value. Once I'm no longer willing to play the game, why keep it around? SO I end up selling those more often than not.

I actually opened my B&C rather early on, when the value was still low, so I'll for sure play that when I get the time, as well as some of the other LRG I want to play. So in the end, you need to come to grips with that situation, and see what may work best. There are other options out there to play those games, without opening your copies, but lets not go there, as the NS thread was derailed yesterday over a similar topic.

Currently, I don't have to many games that I wouldn't open at this point, but there are some for sure. But in certain cases, I do actually buy some games for collection purposes, and not so much to play, so in those cases, I don't feel to bad.

yea thats exactly what happened to many of my PS2 games. i started joining CAG during PS2 days. my blacklog got huge. then ended up seling all the ones that worth money like Haunting Ground, .hack series, and many RPGs. i needed money to buy a new cell phone.

Just bought a storage locker for $1 that had 22 sealed copies inside.  Sewed them into a blanket and slept naked.

I own all the rights & the source code, that I won it from CEO Kimishima in a game of online poker.  Also I plan on re-releasing it to make all of your copies worthless.  So fuck the lot of you.

Ironically, re-releasing the Metroid Prime Trilogy instead of creating a new Metroid game sounds exactly like something Nintendo would do.

But how on earth did we get to a page of comments about the MP Trilogy in the Vita thread?

I really hope you bought me one too ;)
Yeah, super sweet deal. I've gotten same good ones over the years, but nothing that good. This is actually one of the titles I'm missing in my Vita collection, as I'm looking for a good rate before purchase. I may check my TRU, as they all have a pretty good selection of games, but I can't remember if I've ever seen any Vita games recently.

I don't ever remember seeing any vita games at this target for months. Was definitely surprised when I saw it today.

Yeah I fucked up on Rose in the Twilight. Had meant to pre-order it a couple months ago, completely forgot about it, was reminded of it's existence today, and it's completely disappeared from the NIS America website as of now. Assuming it's sold out. Does anyone know the original production quantity?

Sadly, NISA doesn't give qty's. They used to relist games right about 10 days after release, after they would know their replacements and such, but I haven't followed that in years, and I'm not sure if they still do it. As I currently have several open orders for games that might not ship for months, due to their combined shipping(which wasn't a thing a few years back when it was free shipping across the board), so no telling if and when they release the left overs anymore if at all.

Both editions where $20 and $40, so I would recommend grabbing one off Ebay now, as you might be able to get the standard or the LE with maybe just a $5-10 increase over retail. Once time passes, prices will only increase, as this was an exclusive to them, so demand will go up over time, no question.

I've been playing Lichtspeer on vita today during my luch break and it runs great on the system.

Includes full cross save support and leaderboards. Really enjoying the style and the sound track.

Highly recommended for vita. 359MB download.
