Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure LE

Yeah, yeah, I know. A lot of people aren't interested in this game, but the LE is $59.99 everywhere else. So if you're interested in the game, this is a really good deal. It's also a pre-order, the game is supposed to be available on or near Valentine's Day. So buy this for your girl and when she doesn't like it, you can keep it. It's the thought that counts, right?

Anyone know if the LE come in a metal case like Halo 2, Splinter Cell CT, PDZ?
crap, it worked earlier...anyways, i'll edit the OP

as for the link you provided...that's to the xbox version which is $54.99 shipped :bomb:

and as far as the metal case goes, i hope so...i couldn't see them pressing a $59.99 price tag without it

I'm into graf art, I'm into Hip Hop and I'm into video games, so I've been looking forward to this one for awhile. I went by Gamestop the other day to check on this and the price on the pre-order was discouraging, especially since they told me they won't get any copies of the LE without someone pre-ordering. From what the clerk told me there are a lot of cool extras on it, if you're into the graf/Hip Hop end of things.

i haven't kept up to date on the game, but from what i know about it, it's always seemed cool to me...i don't understand why there is so much hate for this game already

Well, I haven't made fun of this game in a while, but I remember the last time I did that some of the extras in the LE included a marker and a black book.

A deal is a deal, though, so I'm sure some people want to play this game. Heck, the 50 cent game sold a million copies.

The Collective developed this so I've been wanting to play this for a while. While Revenge of the Sith was subpar, I still play Indiana Jones and Buffy. Too bad this is the PS2 version and not the Xbox one or else I'd get in on this.

Played the early build at e3 and it looked promising, its no Jet Set Radio but at a budget price i'd pick it up.

TSD: Sorry, just did a search for "Getting up" and clicked on the first one that came out, didnt notice that the deal was for PS2 until you mentioned it...again

I always thought this game looked pretty cool. At least it's something creeative and different. I would much rather play as Talib Kweli than 50 cent anyday.
i'm hoping the game is great, but i'll wait for some reviews before i decide to buy it.
Agreedment.

It has potential to be ultra-sweet, but I'm guessing it'll be a mediocre time.

Wish this was the XBOX version, though I still probably wouldn't buy it for $40 (I don't buy any game for more than $30). I've really been looking forward to this game as I think The Collective (the game's developer) is the best at Hand-to-Hand combat (see Buffy & Indiana Jones on XB) and quite good at climbing in games.

the LE comes in a huge tin case. Looks very similar to the tin cases that trading cards come in.

Is the XBOX version the same? Im hoping its like the Halo 2 case.

supposedly the tin comes with lots of stuff (or at least stuff that's bulky) so that the tin case is the thickness of about 4 stacked dvd cases
I'm reading the review now... it's great to see this game is being received well.
Very nicely said by a true hip hop fan with Blackstar in your sig. The quote they used from Style Wars in Respiration was perfect.

Here's what comes with the Limited Edition:

Yeah the tin case is huge! I picked up the Xbox version a couple of days ago and so far so good. The story can get a little cheesy at times, but the gameplay is cool. Not perfect but fun.

They really did this one right. Sure there is room for improvement, but they pay much respect to the old-timers and the superstars, I have already run into in-game characters of SEEN, COPE2 and FUTURA. If you know what that means this game is definitely for you.

good, I still can't decide if I want to pick this one up though. I have so much to play now as it is. I really want to play it but what I'm sure will be an all hip-hop soundtrack will piss me off. Love graffiti, hate hip-hop.

If you don't like hip hop, the soundtrack won't please you. Look on the bright side, it could have been an all 50 cent soundtrack lol

thats true, not all hip hop irritates me, some of the underground stuff can be good. But, I'm guessing the soundtrack is going to be more mainstream stuff.

I still can't decide if I want this now or not. Seems like it would drop in price fairly fast.

i really doubt any of the music will be mainstream...it just wouldnt fit in well with the "true" grafitii theme they're going for..i mean there arent any gangs or shooting in the game, so i dont think mainstream hip hop will be too involved in the game

anyone have a soundtrack list?

yeah, the tracks are mostly instrumentals, with a new track from Talib Kweli (very non-mainstream), some classics from Mobb Deep and Erik B & Rakim, and a Jane's Addiction track or two.

Got mine today w/ some Rhino credit. Wasn't planning on getting the LE, but that's the only version they got in for some reason. It's worth it tho - very nice package of extras. I scanned through the cd, and even tho I'm not really a hip-hop fan, the music isn't half bad. A lot of the instrumentals remind me of U.N.K.L.E. or Massive Attack - more "trip-hop" really.

Yeah there are a lot of RJD2 tracks, which is instrumental hip hop, and fairly experimental. I have a couple of his albums and they're totally awesome. There is basically nothing in the game that sounds like the typical dirty south / super commercial garbage that they play on MTV and BET all day long.

Always been a fan of games that has a focus on Graffiti. I don't know what it is about it, but usually the games turn out pretty good (i.e. Jet Set Radio). Any idea on how long this price will last? I really want this game (esspecially at this price), but i don't get paid until this wednsday.

well I just got an e-mail saying my order is backordered and they have no idea when they will get new copies in. Very lame.

I am very very tempted to buy this for the soundtrack alone. The non-instrumental tracks are by artists that I know and like, especially PackFM. Anyone who enjoys hip-hop and hasn't checked out QN5 should definitely go to www.qn5.com and give a listen to some of the audio in their dl section. Tonedeff, Pack, the whole Extended Famm crew, Cunninlynguists (one of the most widely regarded up and coming hip-hop acts) and a ton of other talent on that label. Best label around in my opinion. That being said, there's other great artists on that soundtrack too with Pharaoh Monch, Rakim, and Kweli of course. The game looks interesting though beside the extras, and I'm really thinking about getting it. The problem is that there are so many things I want right now (all the Twilight Zone definitive season box sets for one) that I can't decide where my money is best served. I'll definitely keep this in mind though. Thanks OP.

I liked this game when it was called Jet Set Radio. Marc Ecko can go fuck himself. I don't see how he can visually represent Hip-Hop better than Sega did. JMO.
I'm trying to imagine the GARBAGE music he'll place on it and call it Hip-Hop. Mainstream shit like 50 Cents.
Ugh Puffy shit. Really the only stuff I'd be interested in on the soundtrack would be Rakim.

as stated before...very little if any of the tracks on this game can be considered "mainstream"
