My PS3 just got the ol YLOD and fixing it is usually just a band aid so I figure a slim would be a better choice. Are there any good deals out there at the moment? I found an KZ3 bundle for 250 on craigslist that's apparently new, guy says he bought 2 and can't return one. Since I've already got KZ3 I could sell it for some extra cash but still... it's craigslist.
 
It costs $150 for Sony to fix a PS3 out of warranty as long as the warranty seal is still intact versus $300 for a new slim.

Try the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread on CAG. Used PS3's from Amazon pop up all the time on there for around $210-230 and some are bundles that even include games. I picked up a Black Friday bundle with the Karate Kid remake and Uncharted 2 for $225 about 2 weeks ago from there.;)

As far as trusting the guy with the Killzone 3 bundle that he bought two and couldn't return one, I'd be leery of that sort of a 'deal'. Either he got it from one of those 'deal' sites(where you do 2-3 offers and then get a 'free' game/system) or it 'fell off the back of a truck'.

Otherwise they could likely look up his payment info if he paid via cc and allow a return in that way.
 
I'm not a fan of used or refurbished system, especially when the YLOD is so rampant. The best deals I've seen on a new system is amazon which has slims with a free $50 gift card, I have prime so I get free 2 day shipping and the 50 could be used on, I dunno Bad Company 2 since it looks fun. As for craigslist, I guess I could ask for a receipt or proof of purchase?
 
That would definitely help. As for the used systems from Amazon, aside from a small percentage(including the first system in a bundle they sent me:bomb:) of systems/games, most of what they sell on there are in like new condition.

Plus the receipt/packing slip they send you only shows the price paid and not that it was bought used, so you can still claim the Sony 1 year warranty.;)

Sony also offers extended warranties anymore for $60 for 2 years beyond the original one year warranty and I think $40-45 for just one year extra. So you might want to look into that if buying a new system.
 
I bought my 80GB PS3 used off craigslist last year and there hasn't been a single problem with it. No broken disc drive, it hasn't been banned from PSN, no overheating issues, no broken seal. Nothing was wrong other than a few cosmetic problems. Not everyone on craigslist is a con artist.
 
Best posible deal for a new one is probably gonna be a price match. Lookout for target/TRU/Sears/kmart/GS to have a $50-$100 giftcard promo then price match it at best buy, they'll deduct the gift card value directly off the price.

Kmart deal was pretty sweet but mine didn't have any and BB doesn't price match bundles, ah well.

Well that's nifty to know, if so I could essentially get a slim with the warranty for the regular price. Not bad.

Still I like to be careful on such sites so I asked if I could get the receipt or something. It is new, supposedly.
 
I do understand the New thing. Someone claims it if brand new, but it could have been bought from someone else and repackaged in a new box or something. I didn't have to worry about this, as I knew from the get-go that he was selling an unmodded used 80GB.
