PS3 not worth it?
That's funny you bring up the Wii with Zelda as their launch title.....that's their only GOOD launch title out of the 15+ titles avaialble at launch. Hey, the PS3 is going to launch with Resistance Fall of Man -- it's got 1 good title just like the Wii does. Launch titles have always sucked.
Different strokes. Some people (like me) are grabbing 4-5 games at launch for the Wii. If I were to get a PS3 the only game I would get you mentioned. Oblivion got delayed which was another huge launch game.

I *think* the Zelda name holds up a bit more then Resistance personally.

The main problem is the PS3 is $500 (the lowest possible) while the Wii is $250 and comes with a free game. PS3 will also be IMPOSSIBLE to find this year while the Wii will be somewhat difficult, but not impossible as long as you are persistent. Wii games are also $10 cheaper. BIG difference to alot of people, especially CAGers. Wii is a new experience while PS3 is similar to the 360 which 6 million gamers already own.
Remember what happend to the Dreamcast?
If i recall it did very very well in the usa, but did poor in japan, and sega called it quits.
yeah pretty the PS3 is a waste of time if you have a 360 ... maybe in a year it will be worth it
dunno about that, some fps fans hate gears of war and just want to play resistance.

I think the PS3 for the bluray player at this point in time alone is worth it. The gaming console is just a very huge bonus for when more games come out.

And as I recall, you're a dumbass.

can yall stop bein fanboys for a little? I'm gettin a wii and if i had $700+ to spend I'd get a ps3 aswell, hell the graphics are friggen amazing, 7 processors? The games are gonna blow your mind away in terms of graphics, thats always fun right? But the wii titles is what does it for me.

It's definetly NOT WORTH IT. The PS3 has nothing new to offer, really. Same controller, same gameplay. The graphics are good, but that level of graphical sophistication has been available on the PC for awhile now, so it's nothing mind blowing.

There's also the fact that there aren't any good games for the launch, and that three anticipated titles (F.E.A.R., Madden '07 and NBA Shootout, I think) have been delayed or outright canceled because of the diffilculty in developing games for the Cell processor.

Then there's the price; normally, you'd think you're paying so much 'cause it's a next-gen console and should have some new, mind-blowing things to offer, but Sony's using that expectation to bundle in blu-ray (to use it's gaming market i.e. us, as a springboard to grab the high definition player market), and THAT'S where the high price is coming from. I don't know about you, but I couldn't care less about HDTV right now (did you see the price of an HDTV? $800-1000 -- WTF).

Don't buy into the hype; waiting until the price drops is your best bet, since that way, if you're disapointed, at least you won't be out tons of money.

I would wait on the Wii too; if you wait until after Christmas, you'll get a better idea of what the consoles have to offer, and the prices will drop.

I know it's hard to wait -- play some PC games to pass the time, it should be worth it.

your a fucking moron if you get a ps3 open it play it and don't like it. just saying so try it out first not some fucking kiosk worst that happens is you make $10 selling it on ebay

It's not amazing; it's just good, and because of that, anyone who pays the price Sony is asking at this point is getting ripped off.

For what the PS3 is offering, it's worth between $300-400 MAX. The only reason it's priced so high is because of blu-ray, which there's really no advantage in owning, since most people DON'T have an HDTV (and they're expensive), games will NEVER utilize anywhere near the maximum storage capacity blu-ray offers (development costs and time are too high -- and just look at PC games; they look as good as PS3, and all it takes is 10 GB). Sony's being misleading by telling us we're going to get a gaming advantage from the high capacity of blu-ray -- it's just not possible at this point. Maybe by the time PS4 rolls around, and then it won't matter.

Another reason not to own blu-ray is that the format war is not over; companies are developing hardware that can play both formats (HD-DVD and blu-ray), and one company in the U.K. even developed a low cost triple-layer disc that can hold THREE formats (DVD, HD-DVD and blu-ray).

The only advantage in YOU owning blu-ray is Sony's; they get their new player into peoples homes, while the people get no real advantage from owning it, and best of all, Sony gets chumps who'll believe the hype to PAY to distribute blu-ray for them. Sound jaded? Nope, that's corporate thinking for you (and pretty clever, though you can out-think them, control your desires and NOT BUY, yet).

If you buy into Sony's hype, you're in for a suckers deal; it's disappointing, but it's the truth. Your choice though -- knock yourself out.

It's not worth it yet. The system is fine...and what more would anyone want it to be than a suped up PS2?

just no good games yet....unless you REALLY wanna play resistance.

but once DMC4, MGS4 etc. etc. start rolling around, it's gonna be hard to resist.

I'm really enjoying the system thus far. The hardware is sexy, the interface is slick, and even something as simple as the web browser is realized in a way that no other console has been able to thus far.

The online store is really well organized--which I guess is pretty easy when there isn't much content. But I still like that it's organized more like a web site, rather than the Marketplace's endless text lists.

Resistance is an awesome, very PC-style, FPS. Fast action, great weapons, and a story and setting that are significantly more interesting to me than those in GoW--even if the graphics fall noticeably short of that mark.

The Motorstorm demo looks all kinds of awesome on my TV, and the motion control works way better, and is much more immersive than I had figured (it's even making me consider a Wii now).

The controller is really light, but feels completely solid--I've always liked the Dual Shock form factor, though.

The hardware seems to be ridiculously well engineered. It's tight, solid, and almost completely silent. The system stays completely cool other than the right side where it vents all the heat (gets really hot there, though).

Blu-Ray discs look terrific, and even my old DVDs look better than they did playing through the 360 (thanks to much better de-interlacing and 3:2 pulldown).

The dearth of good, unique launch titles is definitely a disappointment, but, considering everything that the hardware offers for the $500 I spent (I chose the 20GB model), I think it's a great value.

Holy fuck you guys give me a headache.

"I PLAYED NBA ON PS3 AND IT SUCKS!! AM I RIGHT!?"

Wow. Get the fuck out of the PS3 forums. We already know a majority of people on CAG hate the PS3. You guys remind us in every thread. We dont need to hear it anymore.
