glad you posted that, I chalked it up to some remote play weirdness but after playing it on the ps4 directly this morning the disarming delay is actually just part of the game. awful.

I'm definitely a little down on the game, but there's so much to like about it that it's hard to stay mad for long.

All the things that Tyler complained about seemed spot on with what I did not like about when watching. Admittedly, I hate really stealth heavy games. I especially hate them if it gives you things that make it appear as more of an action game only to force you to not use those items unless you want to get swarmed by enemies.

figured that out this morning too, not too bad actually.

just soften him up with some explosive bolts/shotgun blasts, then do the flash bolt thing, run up behind, crouch + cross. makes the fight last all of 20 seconds too. granted, took me about 10 tries to figure it out - if you don't soften him up first stabbing him just pisses him off
 
Well, many have given up, but I'm still holding out (a little?) hope for 4 wins in a row for the Orioles. At least the games have been close. Last night we finally got good pitching, but then the damn bats went to sleep. Argh!

 
I tried a few minutes of the arkedo series games this morning:

Jump: Basically a simplistic little platform game..jump, avoid enemies, collect coins, stop bombs, go through door, rinse repeat. It's a little easier than Spelunky but still the same old school concept of one hit kills, and after using up a set amount of lives, you start over from the beginning. I don't see myself havin the need to keep running through the same levels over and over again, so it got old fast.

Swap: just another take on bejeweled. In it your basically trying to line up 4 blocks of the same color..didn't play much but it is what it is.

Pixel: May end up being the best of the bunch because your character is none other than Pix the Cat! But this time he is in a platforming game, and no eggs.

5.99 isn't a bad price for 3 ok games, but definitely something to wait on for a price drop.
 
No idea why people continue to post deals from gamedealdaily after he sold those stolen minecraft codes that ended up being deactivated and also had that fiasco with the Metal Gear Solid Revengeance game and steelbook, where he ran out of steelbooks and sent people the game and 2 one dollar bills as a form of compensation instead.

Not sure if anyone cares, but thoughts on playstation tv from limited use last night.

Yes, its tiny.

DS4 does not auto shut off, will just stay on unless you put playstation tv into standby mode or shut off completely, at least all I could figure out.

My house is wired with ethernet so I used remote play wired. Worked pretty well. Played destiny in bed (its hooked up to my tv in my bedroom) and the remote play worked well enough. Slight lag was a little noticeable, but not bad enough to make it unplayable. I didnt try crucible, but it was just fine for PVE. The only issue was it took the playstation tv a bit to find my ps4. It does a search on the internet to find it thing and after waiting a few minutes I went and watched The Flash and came back and it was connected. I didnt disconnect and try again to reconnect and see if it took any less time,  but hopefully it does on subsequent connections.

Netflix doesnt work, but supposedly working to fix that. Hopefully it works pretty well as I have a Roku as well thats mostly used with netflix and could just use the playstation tv mainly if netflix is decent enough.

Downloaded PS Now but didnt fire it up, might mess with it tonight, but not likely due to stupid pricing scheme they got going on right now.

Oh and as far as the graphics on destiny, its a 32 inch tv and I locked output to 720p. I could notice difference in graphics a little, not nearly as clear as on my 50 inch 1080p plasma, but not really bad at all. 

Oh and inside the packageing theres a slip that even says try and do a wired connection if you can, so theres that for the remote play part of it.

Man I have so much shit I want to play (Evil Within, Minecraft Vita, Strength of the Sword, Spelunky, Dust, Pix, Bayonetta PS3) that maybe I should just skip Shadow Warrior next week.  Are you still getting it Pharm?  I think it does potentially look cool.

 
Yeah I am getting Shadow Warrior.  I really want to get Strength of the Sword since it is only $1 but I have sworn off buying any more PS3 games.  I am looking to finish a few I have left and be done with it for good by years end.

EDIT:  I will look for reviews before I pickup Shadow Warrior just to make sure it isnt real shitty.  If its decent, mindless fun like I expect it to be I will pick it up.

my big three drives right now are:
- aesthetics - I really like the style of the game in general. with re4 as one of my favorite games and this a kissing cousin I can't help but enjoy it. adding on to that the weird mixture of tech/supernatural/old timey and it's right up my alley.
- variety - there seems to be quite a bit to the game. different melee weapons with different effects on stuff, lighting stuff on fire, weapons and the agony bow with the different ammo types. if it ever actually gets actiony it's going to be fun.
- story - it's a dumb ass cheesy story so far. again, right up my alley. what's up with disappearing dude and the light? I dunno. ready to find out more!
 
Oh that crazy feminist chick that everyone hates was supposed to speak at my old college today but then the college got a threat about "the worst school shooting ever" if she speaks so she canceled it.  Well she wanted to still do it but with metal detectors and stuff in the auditorium and the college said no because Utah loves its guns and we have a concealed carry law that they couldn't/didn't want to overturn for her speech.

People are fucking insane.  

And like I said about it before, it's really hard to get behind either side.  That chick really is kind of an attention hog and has some really kinda batshit insane ideas about feminism and stuff that seem kinda extreme.  But the people threatening to kill her and others are even worse than that.

Are they trying to make gamers look incredibly, horribly terrible? If so, they are succeeding.

The whole situation is terrible. I rarely agree with what she says, but I'm reasonable enough to understand that it's OK to have a differing opinion and that hers in no way devalues mine. I don't get how anyone could think that resorting to abuse and death threats is a reasonable response to something you don't agree with
 
All of you Therm-ing (besides MildOb's post about what he likes in it) about The Evil Within just makes me that much more excited to start it tonight. :bouncy:

 
I hope the Playstation TV adds support for the PSP version of Final Fantasy III.  I tried it out last night even though it wasn't on the list and it just gave me the unsupported error.  I did try Danganronpa and it looked nice on the TV.

Yeah, how anyone can rationalize death threats and threats of terrorism as acceptable because someone has a very different opinion of something than they do is beyond me. Pretty sure that's jumping to al queda levels of insane. Over video games!!!!!!!

Almost certainly these threats are all empty and being made from some fucking losers in their mom's basement who have never even had a full conversation with a girl. But I don't blame that chick one bit for canceling speeches and stuff over threats like that. fuck that!

On one hand, haha Comcast. On the other hand, we could potentially be paying $10-$15 a month for a bunch of different streams, which will probably end up being more expensive than cable :wall: And Comcast is going to be choking every one of those streams and jacking up the cost of internet. :fridge:

Man, I hope Google Fiber gets into the Houston area. Oh, I forgot that UVerse Gigabit is coming to Houston, hopefully, they get it to the surrounding communities north of there.

But I don't want all those channels and HBO is a pay channel anyway. Perhaps at first it will only make sense for ones like HBO, Showtime, etc, but eventually I figure the ad-channels are going to start streaming for free. Writing's on the wall.

Hmmm. I just hear what a chore it is to play and Tyler's stream didn't show anything except what has been complained so far, but then again he was terrible. Digital Foundry reviewed the technical aspect and found a very underperforming title too.

I feel sarkesian is coming at videogames in a similar manner that lawyer who was against violent videogames is. This time though, there are abundant conflicts of interest (like the repeated articles/"friendships" about Wu, Sarkesian and the five guys chicks) yet no other women devs are stepping out? In the other side we have retards who undermine any kind of movement with the shit they post about murdering these women.
 
Strength of the Sword 3 looks like a bunch of stick figures fighting each other. Or atomic models of atoms. (Little sticks, big balls)

Was there a Strength of Sword 2 or 1? Is this just a joke?

 
yeah i am not even gonna try to beat survivor without any upgrades, so yeah im playing on casual.

and that damn knife the chainsaw dude, it auto saves right when you kill him so I had to redo that whole chapter. 2nd time through i saved right before fighting him, but I still had to stab him 3 times just to make sure I didnt kill him with my shotgun on accident again. You can craft as many flashbangs for 2 trap pieces each, so it wasn't that bad.

n yeah, after hearing all the complaints about difficulty, i started on casual and im glad I did. Im a cheater confirmed ;)

Despite the RE4 similarities it sounds like a lot less fun than that game. With that in mind I think I'm going to pass on this one even at a cheaper price. I figure if I don't want to fall into the same backlog trap this gen I'm going to have to be more mindful of my time and avoid some games.

I doubt they'll start streaming for free since some of them make you log in with your cable provider and if you don't have one or only have internet, they won't let you watch. ABC comes to mind. And the Supreme Court killed Aereo, which I was using so I ended up getting one of those flat amplified indoor antennas that picks up the OTAs. It works well and I'm about 45 miles from the broadcast towers.

Although I'm still leaning towards playing The Evil Within, I'm taking that same approach going forward. With my limited time, it only makes sense to spend it playing the best games possible. I'm still gonna play most of what I've already bought though. Of course there'll always be that game that may not be the best but really interests me that I'll talk myself into trying, but I'm gonna be much more selective with my purchases now and in the future.

 
Derek, looks like you're in for the raid. Does 830EST work for everyone tonight? I was checking out some Templar videos and there's actually a good strategy out there that doesn't look too bad.

the only reason I'm toughing it out on survivor is that I don't know how the difficulty unlocks work. I'd hate to finish and only unlock the 3rd out of four difficulties. might be that way anyways. they might be non-stacking. someone knows, I just haven't seen the info and don't care enough to look it up.

The templar is a joke. Shouldn't take but maybe 2 tries to beat. He's never given me any problems. Just don't sit still and avoid the bosses shots. You should be fine.
