Decided to start selling off the physical PS3 games I've played/won't play. Not much so far, but wondered whether there's a consensus on the best place to sell; eBay, Amazon, or is CL a decent option?

Right now I'm just sitting on these titles, so there's not a whole lot of potential, but I've got a number of other games I'll be dumping as I get through them that will do a lot better:

1. Infamous
2. Dante's Inferno (Divine Edition)
3. Killzone 2
4. Hyperdimension Neptunia (Haven't played this but will do the Vita version instead if I decide to do so.)
Are you looking for cash? If not don't know if you have seen me mention 99 gamers, pretty neat site for selling games to trade for other games... Otherwise I would start with craigslist, then ebay

Had to Restore File System and Rebuild Database on my PS3. Hopefully this will prevent the corruption installations of Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row IV. Oh yeah @Rim, of course I meant it :) I won't even pretend. If you can't laugh at horrible tragedies, what can you laugh at?

50 trophies for

The Last of Us Remastered

unless this game gives backrubs and cookies I predict I will not get 100%.

A little light reading

spec ops the line spoiler

Basically Walker came to Dubai for a reconnaissance mission get in, find evidence and location of survivors and get out. But Walker desperately wanted to play hero and "save" the city so he began to go against orders. As a result he does a TERRIBLE thing and his mind can't handle it so he blames Conrad for the whole thing. He needs validation of the presence of the villain so he begins hallucinating that he is talking to him. As Walker increasingly makes more horrible decisions he continues to blame Conrad for it. When he gets to the end and discovers Conrad has been dead the entire time there is no one left to blame. So Walker either follows Conrad's example and commits suicide or he becomes "Conrad" the villain he has built up in his mind (if you notice he is wearing Conrad's uniform in the epilogue).

But it's not just about that, it's about the people who play these games. He references his possible presence in the game when Walker wonders why we are doing the helicopter mission again. When Conrad is talking, he is not just talking to Walker, he is talking to the player:

"The truth [...] is that you're here because you want to feel like something you're not. A hero."

"Even now, after all you've done, you can still go home. Lucky you"

Even the loading screen taunt the player for their virtual atrocities:

"How many Americans have you killed today?"

"If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here."

"The US Military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants, but none of this is real so why should you care?"

"Killing for yourself is murder. Killing for the government is heroic. Killing for entertainment is harmless."

"You cannot understand, nor do you want to."

etc.
Thank you so much for posting that.

Wow, so none of the base game trophies were changed at all. Great. Fantastic. Looks like I'm just going for the single-player, Left Behind, and Grounded Mode trophies, then.

You guys probably know about this, but this is simplest trophy info with guides included, I have ever seen. http://ps3trophyguide.org/  I feel ridicule coming for some reason though.

Edit: This list is a bit dated which is shitty, but still some good info.

Sooo, Crimsonland is pretty much mindless fun at it's core, and I'm having fun with it. Would be miles better if you have friends (or kids :)) who can join in, since it supports 4 player local co-op. But they really missed the boat with no online coop, could have been great.

Nice, thanks! Short sheet threw me for a minute, but I figured it out. :)

Most of the disc-only stuff is crap sports games or things that aren't actually exclusive to console. Here's the list I came up with of stuff that seems halfway interesting (that I don't already have). Any of these worth playing?

  1. Cross Edge
  2. Enchanted Arms
  3. Eternal Sonata
  4. Heavenly Sword
  5. Heavy Rain
  6. Lollipop Chainsaw
  7. Nier
  8. Skate 2
  9. White Knight Chronicles 2
Play NIER and Heavenly Sword. Maybe Heavy Rain but read up on it first. Play Eternal Sonata if you like jrpgs.

It's just an index to the site most use anyways, ps3t.org. Still helpful though, haven't seen that in particular (all of them on one page with clickable link...although I haven't looked) Edit: actually, some of them are for other sites it seems, and not all games are there.

Finished up Hitman 2 and started Dante's Inferno tonight. Hitman 2 shows its age, but I still really enjoyed it. Probably going for the plat in Dante's Inferno.

Yeah, cash. I did look at 99 gamers and liked the idea, but aside from the games I already have and the ones discussed above, I'm not currently planning on getting more PS3 disc games. The intent is more towards working down the PS3 backlog and getting money towards the PS4 at the same time. It'll still be a while as I plan to finish off my PS3 backlog before moving on. And even when I say backlog I really mean "PS3 library that I'm interested in whether I have those games yet or not."

I actually liked DI once I switched to easy mode. Not enough to get the plat, though.
The final boss on whatever the hardest difficulty was took me like 3 hours to beat. Every few deaths it would ask me if I wanted to lower the difficulty. Losing on the boss didn't piss me off, but seeing that god damn message every couple minutes drove me insane.

BTW I was looking for something shortish to play on my Vita. Went for Metal Slug XX since it was free via PS+. PSP game so no trophies, but I was curious since the "time to beat" was listed at like 45 minutes. Finished in 37. What a dumb game that was.

Heavenly Sword was pretty good.... but no trophies.

[customspoiler='Heavenly Sword spoilers']I know they were supposed to pretty much be sisters (even if not by blood) but put me on the side that got a pretty weird lesbian vibe from the game. [/customspoiler]
Anytime I hear a game has no Trophies I get sad, then I realize I can enjoy it old school with having to accomplish dumb tasks. And that spoiler has convinced me to push the game up on my priority list lol.

Thanks to whoever posted all the Spec Ops article links. I really enjoyed the game, but that will probably change when I attempt FUBAR.

The plat is easy and doesn't take very long at all from what I've read.

I'm playing on Normal and haven't had any trouble so far. It's pretty fun.

Minimum $120 in Best Buy gift cards when you trade in a working Xbox 360 250GB or Sony PS3 Slim console and two controllers at a participating Best Buy store.

Valid 7/13/14–8/2/14. In store only. Trade in a working Xbox 360 250GB or Sony PlayStation 3 Slim and receive a minimum $100 gift card. Trade in a working wireless Microsoft or Sony controller with console and receive $10 per controller. Not available in all locations and some stores may have additional limitations.

My playstation 3 is having trouble installing SRIV and Sleeping Dogs (both digital) and I have done just about everything except for a complete reformat, which says it will take 14 hours. I am probably going to reformat it to see if that fixes the problem, but if it doesn't does anyone know if I have to trade in 2 controllers. I'd rather trade in 1 and get $110 in credit to put towards another PS3 and not have to trade in an additional dual shock. I should just hold out for a Brack Friday Bunduru, but in the mean time I gotta figure something out.

So we have six people signed up for tomorrow's Bioshock DLC boost. We could do Adam Grab and win one game each since we don't have enough for to fill a team game. Don't forget to do your homework and play a game on each DLC map in a private session before tomorrow.

I'm sure you guys will be all done by the time im off work. fuck working weekends.

I don't know what you're trying to say. More words, please.

By yourself, you need to play a game on each DLC map in a private session. Then when we're doing the boosting, each person will only need to win one game and both trophies will pop.

Man...I hate having to manually save every 5 minutes in Bioshock, but I hate going back and picking up every item and collectible that I got already before I died even more.

finally plat'd Sorcery Saga.

if you're looking for a casual pick up and play never-gonna-die roguelike (so easy it's sort of zen), or want to take a baby step into the genre, it's worth a shot.  i had a lot of fun with it.    if you're experienced (like i am) you might be put off by it's simplicity.   the closest game i can think of to it is actually the free 'adventure bar labyrinth' on psmobile.   dungeon design is barebones, there's only like 10 enemies color palleted to hell and back, and the magic system is absolutely broken  (read: useless)... but it still manages to be a fun time kill.

The plot is silly but actually funny at times.   Reminds me a bit of the 'nice' Atelier series, but with a more comedic bent.  There's no real evil to stop, you're just trying to make good curry and meet the curry god.

if you don't care about the plat, and you just want an easy time burning roguelike to get powerful in and crush enemies,  you could do worse.

the plat, however, is a m'fuckin' fuckity fuck.   you need to upgrade all weapons/shields to level 5.   That's around 75-100+ high level kills per weapon.   You also need to die 50 times.  But since you never die, that's an hour of forced dying.  Oh, and you need every rare item.   Oh, and you need to max every spell, with super rare spell books (some up to level 5, meaning you need 5 super rare books).    There are workarounds that make this not -quite- as painful as it sounds, but it's still a bunch of time playing unfun lotto.  (go into dungeon, use 20 'change item' scrolls, if no success, reload dungeon in a way that keeps your items and redo).

given all the above caveats, i'd actually recommend the game to the right people (aka those still somewhat interested after they read 'easy roguelike').

You're a girl?! No way. I should let snakey and corgi know. They would appreciate it.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but, they already and I thought everyone else here knew.

I had my profile pic as my actual pic a few weeks ago, but I started getting unwanted attention so I changed it. It also apparently caused a trend of the sideways profile pic

I know you're female, but my question is: are you a horse?

Playing the SP of Starhawk right now we got from PS+.  This game is actually pretty sweet.  Started on Mercenary difficulty but after Mission 3 it just became a chore to play so I moved down to Hard and I am having a lot of fun.  Feels good to actually play some of these PS+ games.
