Heroes was a shit show even in season 1. The problem with shows that focus equally on a large number of separate characters is that if only a few characters are interesting then the rest drag it down. For s1 every character was shit except for the Hiro, Sylar, Noah Bennet, and to some extent Nathan Petrilli. Everybody else was just terrible. Even skipping scenes without those four the show was a chore to get through.
