Oh and I set up that Unblock thing on my router, followed the Roku reset instructions and it worked like a charm. Definitely awesome. And Netflix Mexico has a crazy good selection.

And another awesome development. I got a new laptop for work on Thursday. For some reason this one let's me install Chrome extensions without admin rights where the old one wouldn't. See ya later, ads.

It doesn't show that UNblock-us thing working with amazon FireTV. I really don't have the time to watch -more- shows anyway.

Played through 10% of Tearaway last night until realizing "Hey, this is just a demo? I can't go on?" The game had it's charm but I wasn't impressed enough with the "game" aspect to consider purchasing it.

Yes, I'd definitely do that. If you're up for more Target-flipping fun today (the last day the preorder card promo is live), CoD: G has a pretty good trade-in value at Gamestop, and I could give you a code for 50% extra trade-in credit since I have extras. PM me if you have any questions.
When does the extra 50% expire? I've got a shitload of 360 games I'd love to trade in.

I don't see TiVo listed on the devices so I assume I'll have to change the router settings. But then that would make it work on anything I use on my home wifi right?

Thanks for the tip regardless.
I didn't realize TiVo had a Netflix app. If you can manually change its settings it should still work. I think what matters is whether the device in question will allow you to access content outside your region. So something like a 3DS probably wouldn't work.

Glad it worked out. Some of the differences in content are strange. I wonder what it means, if anything, that certain things go to different countries, lol. You'd think Homeland would be prime for American audiences.

Unrelated, but Netflix inked a new deal with Disney so the Marvel catalog should be returning next year. As well as Star Wars.

Nope, you don't need to do anything to your actual Netflix account. I imagine it's like traveling with your Roku overseas and plugging it in there. Lol, I don't understand how or why it works. Maybe @therm or someone can explain.
Basically when you use a VPN/DNS server, you're sending your info to a server with the address your using and it is then sending it to the website. So if you use a VPN somewhere in Japan for instance, whatever site you receives your data after that will think you're located there. I'm guessing what unblock us is doing is having you connect to their server, which then connects to another VPN based on the country you select. It's basically streamlining a VPN and allowing you to easily switch countries on the fly without having to reinput DNS and IP addresses. Netflix could pretty easily create region restrictions if they wanted to, but I think they'd rather let it go under the rug that some people are accessing content from outside the intended country instead of pissing those people off by locking them out.

I'm preeety sure I have that right, though my knowledge of VPNs is minimal so I may be talking out of my ass here.

Second son update: got the third power. Pretty cool. Makes travel even faster which is nice. But now I have forgotten how to switch between the powers without draining something. Delsin is still not whiny. Liking it.

How're you liking Max? Thinking about either that or State of Decay in the MS sale going right now, but haven't decided yet. SoD does go on sale much more frequently, so I'm leaning towards Max, but haven't heard anything about it.

I've only played ~40m of Max so far, but I'm enjoying it quite a lot. It's easy going in a way that not a lot of platformers are anymore, and the presentation is incredibly charming in a Pixar sort of way. Most of the reviews I've read say it gets frustrating and/or repetitive later on, so we'll see if it holds up, but as of now I've been very pleasantly surprised.

How did you not realize you were playing a demo?
It only said "buy now" at the pause screen. I kept thinking "Didn't I buy this for cheap during a PSN sale? Maybe it will unlock later. Eh, just keep playing."

The game didn't seem limited in anyway, and actually had an opening and started at the beginning. (Demo games usually seem to drop you somewhere in the middle)

Dammit. Just realized the RDR copy I bought was the vanilla Greatest Hits instead of the GOTY edition. Oh well. Just means I don't have to play as much, though I'm kinda bummed about the missing Undead Nightmare.
It will likely be on sale again on PSN (that's where I got it), I too was sucked into buying the vanilla version on sale, then a few months later the GOTY edition was super cheap.

Oh yeah. Looks like Velocity 2x will have an extra challenge DLC on release or soon after. It updated this week and has extra trophies now. Seems to be more challenging critical urgency levels.

Anyone want to help me figure out what to grab on psn? I picked up 2 $20 cards as a present to myself (separate from my normal budget, so I want to just 'spend' it now vs waiting for sales like I normally do).
It's PSN credit, it doesn't spoil like milk, sit on it till something you want comes on sale) there's no reason to blow your entire load unless you are completely out of games to play.

If anyone needs to figure out how to turn off the subtitles on Netflix on your PC for foreign countries and there isn't an option, this will work from Reddit.  I used it for Fresh Prince in Mexico.

At least when it comes to watching on a computer I found a pretty easy way to turn the subs off. Here is what you have to do:

  1. Create a .txt-file and change it to .dfxp. Name it every way you want. The result could be NoSubs.dfxp for example.
  2. Start the movie/TV show you want to watch.
  3. Hold Shift+Alt (for Mac Shift+Opt) and left click an the screen. That should bring up the Diagnostics if not try full screen mode.
  4. Go to "Load Costum DFXP File".
  5. Load your empty dfxp-file and the subs should be gone.
