Stellar pick up Under Defeat HD if you like shmups it's worth the price.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING:

Stay away from Ibb & Obb if you can and delete it from your backlog. There are connection issues like Cleaner said which happened to Tyler and I a few times. It's a pain in the ass playing levels over and the precise jumps on some parts are frustrating.

Munky your not missing much on this game so I'd suggest just skip it.

I also just want to let you guys know that Google sucks, and I had to go through 20+ pages of Tyler posts to find that pic.
You don't remember me posting this exact same sentiment earlier? WTF did it just get completely removed from the internet? How is that possibly. Searching "peter griffin go on" or "family guy go on" used to make it pop up in the first 4 images. Now it's nowhere in site!

Yeah Ibb & Obb is tough, it's not the puzzles that are the most challenge, some of those are rather fun! But some of the enemy sections that require some precise timing, sometimes for extended periods of time, can be super frustrating.

I think I probably enjoyed it a little more than Bums, but not enough that I'd ever want to play it again or recommend it to almost anyone. Make sure both of you are really good at platformers if you want to try and get through it.

I had a dream that I had to have this woman arrested because in some train car restaurant I found her stapling staples in to another person's fingertips as well as her own. while I was waiting for the police I discovered the woman's name - equistina.

in my dream I promptly came here and posted about it, so I figured I'd better do that in real life too.

...no it doesn't. What the hell are you talking about?

1. New World Easy

2. New World Normal

3. New World Hard

4. Arcade Easy

5. Arcade Normal

6. Arcade Hard

7. New World Extra

8. Arcade Extra
I was thinking that there were trophies for the Extra levels at every difficulty as well. That still only adds up to 12, though, so I'm not sure how I got to 18. I crashed hard right after that and went to bed super early. Night before last I got 2 hours sleep because I stayed up to plat Ghosts and the damn dog woke me up 2 hours later. :whistle2:

The second game in a series is almost always the best-

Velocity 2X

MGS 2

Half Life 2

Doom 2

Sly 2

Ratchet and Clank 2

Uncharted 2

Soul Reaver 2

Jak II

Assassin's Creed II

Mass Effect 2
Interesting you say Jak II. I've repeatedly seen others in here say Jak I is the best. I'd also wondered about Velocity 2X as there's been a number of complaints about the platforming sections and the level lengths.

Today, I saw used games in Walmart for the first time. I was surprised to see that a lot of the games were higher than they were in Gamestop.

Also, PS4 acquired.
I noticed a number quite a bit lower than what GS had. GS has really weird pricing on things. R&C Collection is $27 used at GS, for example...even though Walmart and BB sell it new at $20 and Walmart and BB used at ~$15.

I just signed on and see that handsomepete and Pharmcrest are playing Under Defeat HD. Hope you guys are enjoying the game. Glad to see Stotch got the platinum. It's a easy plat so I expect you guys get it.
I wasn't playing it at that time as much as I was leaving it paused for hours to get the unlimited lives. I played a level or two for real and realized stitch was full of shit about it being easy. I was trying to play velocity at the same time. fuck I hate those platforming levels.

I assume u were on your ps3? If you were on your ps4 u would have seen me on velocity instead? I wonder how that works.

Jak 2 is open world and has a GTA feel at times. It's interesting and way different than Jak 1, which is standard platforming fare. I can see why people prefer both.

I loved Jak 2 at first, but it got old.

Tyler, add this to the OP please.

I'm really bad at MGS2. The controls feel really awkward. I must be missing something...feels like in order to aim and peek around the corner to shoot you have to press three buttons at once. Is that right? Hold R1 to enter aim mode, hold L2/R2 to take a step left/right to get around the corner, then box to fire?  :whistle2:k

yeah, it's awful. I don't care how awesome the games are, I just couldn't play it. maybe I'll try again someday, but I'm in no rush.

It's pretty rough. It doesn't seem like it's going to be that long, though, since I'm only going to play through it once. No way I'm doing five playthroughs for the plat.

This looks pretty good:

We talked about it for a bit in the other thread. I like it. Pretty weird premise. Lol I stopped at year 5, too. I'm waiting for the vita port (cross-buy) to play more.

And, yeah, if you're not careful you can get stuck. I think there's a way to teleport back to the mayor, though. You also don't have to save all the babies every season if that helps any.
I forgot about the Vita port and was thinking it'd be great on the go. I'll definitely play it more then. I love the art style.

Yeah you can telephone back to the mayor. I had to do that to get a few children. You only have to save half to complete the level and I believe you get 1 pass where you can save less but it's best to limit it towards the later levels due to the difficulty.

Football bitches!!

I played knack a few hours this morning. I am playing on normal and its still pretty difficult. Annoying actually. And who the fuck ever invented random shit out of chests needs to die.

So why does everybody in here have GCU? At $120 for buy-in, it seems way too high to be worthwhile for something not much better than GS's program. Was it a lot lower at one point?

I don't think you have to aim in first person, so you only have to deal with two if you just want to fire quickly without aiming.

any problems with MGS1??

:whistle2:k
Watched it (Twin Snakes, anyway) on YT. Didn't want to play a PS1 game for the original, and don't have a GC/Wii for the remake. Glad I watched it since the story carries straight into the second game. If I hadn't I'd be completely clueless as to what's going on.

Anyway due to that I completely missed the controls aspect until I started MGS2.

Here's a video showing the first boss fight that's pretty close to how I played it (I was on the left side instead of the right, and never had to heal):

I'm just having a lot of trouble understanding the love for the game when there's so much tedium around the controls.

Uh...yeah, you could say that. Before the program overhaul to $120-for-2-years and 20% discount on all new games, I was a paid member with the $14.99 yearly fee. Those of us who were already members at the time the program changed received a coupon for $90 off the new $120 price, so I used that coupon to get another two years of GCU benefits for $30.

The subscription has also been $60 off (i.e., $60 for two years) a couple of times, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it drop to that price again closer to the holiday season.

Yeah...I'm going to mess around with it more. There's a way to just peak around the corners, which seems more sensible, but that works in 3rd person instead of 1st, and it seemed like there wasn't a way to aim at all in that approach.

I feel like this is one of those games that would have benefited from having an in-game tutorial section at the beginning to show you how to play the way they intend. That it doesn't have one is odd considering MGR did and was a much simpler game, control-wise.

I got it for $60. Combined with the $10 preorder offers, I think I should be able to make my money back pretty easily. I don't do a lot of trading, but if you do, you get bonuses with every trade-in, so there's that too. Also, let your friends and family use your 20% discount and you are basically getting free rewards points.

Ah. That's a decent deal. I can't see anybody of sound mind jumping in at $120, though. As I said, the benefits are pretty similar to what GS offers, though with the obvious exception of GS not giving anything for new games. I guess it's aimed more at people who buy a lot of brand-new games at $60 a pop, though.
