1) Claptrap is actually kind of funny to me, way better than Navi or any of the annoying characters from Zelda. Plus, after the tutorial and first couple hours, I don't remember Claptrap being around all that much. That being said, I've never understood how an annoying character could turn someone off of a game. I find it pretty simple to just ignore them since they're not really on the screen all that much, then just get back to the game (the one that comes to mind right now is Dust: An Elysian Tail. EVERYONE bitched about Fidgit being annoying, but seriously she maybe has 15 mins of dialogue total, how hard is that to tune out?). Also there's the option to just turn off the voice audio in some games, not sure if Borderlands has that though.

Also, how have you never played a Zelda game?!?!?!

2) I understand this gripe a little bit more, as sometimes it felt stupid opening a big loot chest and then having to position myself in order to grab each piece of loot seperately. Everybody gets irked by different things, but to me this is just a minor minor minor irritation.

Usually Bosamba and I are on pretty similar wavelengths, but we're WAY off on this one.
I've haven't owned a Nintendo system since the NES and the only RPG I had for that was Final Fantasy 1, which I didn't get too far in. I did ask Santa for a Super NES back in 1991(?) but he got us a Sega Genesis instead. (My family wasn't too rich so my parents could only afford one console. My younger brother wanted the Sega so his wish got priority.) I've played Super NES and Nintendo 64 off and on at various friends' homes growing up, just never played Zelda while I was there.

I'm glad I decided to give Borderlands another shot. I deleted my old character and decided to play as a soldier again. This time I specced him a little different and made sure to not waste money on new weapons from the vending machines. You're right about Claptrap, I haven't heard much from him since the very beginning.

I think my initial problem with the game is that there's a paper thin story and very little NPC interaction. This is what makes the Bioware/Obsidian games I've played in the past so engaging for me. I need to embark on "The Hero's Journey" and this game is all about the shooty shooty bang bang with very little reason why (other than better loot). I want to have a break from combat and just converse with some NPCs every now and then.

I hope the developers have given us pacifist-leaning players some options in the upcoming sequel. I didn't fire a single shot at the end of New Vegas. I persuaded Saren to blow his brains out at then end of Mass Effect 1. Give me something along those lines and I'll warm up to it quicker.

Uhhh, what? This game is all about guns. Guns were it's major selling point when it first came out. This is an FPS with some RPG elements, not an equal combination of the two like the Fallout games. It's like asking for pacifist options in the COD campaigns.

^This pretty much. Fallout 3 and NV were RPGs with FPS elements. Borderlands is a FPS with RPG elements. Basically a FPS loot based shooter with some RPG elements like quests and xp. The only NPCs in the game are just there to give you quests. There is no big character development and what not in Borderlands as in most FPS games with the exception of a few.

You're right about a paper-thin story and little NPC interaction. But that's what makes me like Borderlands way more than Mass Effect 1 or the Fallout games. I actually skip through long-winded dialogue in those games. I really dislike having to interact with NPC's other than to just get missions, I much prefer just blasting and tearing my way through bad guys most the game. So we are indeed on opposite ends of the spectrum in that regard, and I can fully understand how Borderlands might not be for you.

And like others mentioned, more than likely Borderlands 2 won't be for you either.
Can anyone tell me what game Borderlands replaced?
It replaced Walking Dead episodes 1 and 2.

Borderlands was a lot of fun. But I like FPS, not long winded RPGs (I used to like RPGs, but as I get older I have little time for them).

Killzone Trilogy sounds cool. But I played 2 and 3, so I just want to get the first one on PSN.

Hmm...I already own Killzone on PS2 and Killzone 2 without the DLC on my PS3 backlog. Might get Killzone Trilogy just for Killzone 3. Killzone in HD and all the DLCs will be the bonuses.
Thanks for the link. The new ZP2 suite is pretty nice, pretty similar to how it is on Xbox. I only own 10 tables on PS3, but I was able to get the 2 golds and 1 silver trophies, they were surprisingly easy. :)
Ya, I think Zen Pinball 2 has new high score charts, and your pro score is based on your online rankings. So, with it just being released and not that many people playing yet, it's way easier to chart high and get the trophies. On release night, I managed to get the pro score gold and one silver with only 4 tables and scores of around 3-6 million on each...

^Ya, I played the hell out of it last night because I was thinking the same thing. Took me 7 tables to get it. I'm not great at the game, so if I wanted that gold Pro Score trophy it was now or never.
Oh shit, it's based on online rankings? Time to fire it up.
Not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure it's based on online rankings. I didn't want to take any chances.

Yeah, I looked it up at PS3T.org and that's what it seems like. I have yet to even play my Marvel Pinball from Plus and then also all the tables I bought yesterday so I'll finally run through some of those and hopefully get enough to get that trophy.

From the manual:

I picked up Alpha Mission II from the Neo Geo sale without realizing that it only let's you continue twice before you game over. Man it's fucking hard, they couldn't even offer an option to increase the number of continues for wimps like me? I really like the game but I'm just not that skilled.

Oh well, at least it will save me some money in the long run since I was considering buying some other games in the collection. Are they all like that?

Console versions of neo geo games are different than arcade versions were you just putted one extra coin and you will get one continue

I have some games of neo geo console and yes it is like that you won't be getting extra continues and this work for all the games.

Okay, I'm not sure if it's entirely based on online rankings or whatever. I know Frisky just posted that explanation but it makes little sense to me. Anyways, I got it pretty fast just by playing the four Marvel tables. Is it messed up that my only goal was to beat your scores since you were the top scores on my friend's list?

But anyways, load it up and you should get the team score trophy right away as well. Another easy gold trophy for you, haha.

Every time you play a table, it compares your high score to the current leaderboards and gives it a score from 1-1000 based on where you're at, which can go down over time if you ignore certain tables. They add up these scores for all of your tables for your Pro Score.

Getting 2,000 was pretty easy to get after playing four or five of the ten tables that I have.

Haha I do that all the time. I had one random PSN friend who had some scores on the leaderboard, so my only goal was to beat his score. However, next time I boot it up I won't be the "Pinball King" anymore, I actually kind of enjoyed seeing that on there haha.

im sure people will complain in the blog

example omg another psn title and no retail game :)

Scott Pilgrim is a GREAT game, way more enjoyable if you have others to pay with since it's lacking online. I seriously dont know why they didnt include online multiplayer...baffles me.

Also, isn't JSR next week for ps+ also Frisky?

There is going to be a new DLC character and online MP for Scott Pilgrim. I don't remember when and why it is soooo late, but yeah. I am hoping the online MP is free since it would suck to pay for it, but we shall see.

And if you read the article that you linked to, it states that the "Online Multiplayer+Wallace Pack will run you 400 Microsoft Points." So it won't be free.

WOW

Very glad to find that out, thanks.

and the MP wont be free, it says in the article...but ill gladly pay for it.

Now we need online MP for Catherine!

Scott Pilgrim is an awesome game! Alas, I have it on PS3 already. Wish I had originally bought it on Xbox, so I could replay it now. Oh well.

I have tried twice to play Scott Pilgrim and I just can't get into it. The levels are super long and you're so weak in the beginning that you die frequently (or maybe I just suck at it). Maybe it's because I played a ton of the super awesome Castle Crashers before hand.

Yeah there's definitely grinding required at the beginning of Scott Pilgrim. I played 3 or 4 levels with my friend one night, then went to play more by myself the next day and for some reason had to start back at level 1, but my character maintained all his money and levels. So I was forced to replay 4 levels, which essentially took care of a lot of the grinding for me.

I actually enjoyed SP way more than CC, I could barely get through it.

I loved scott pilgrim and hated castle crashers. Had 3.03 in my account and picked up the latest valkyria chronicles dlc. Anyone want to play through the zombie apacolypse or lara croft games we got from plus pm me.

Holy crap, online for Scott Pilgrim? My friend is gonna need new pants when i tell him about this.

Also cant wait to buy Jet Set Radio next week, never really got to play the original.

Getting the 100% in Scott Pilgrim sucked because it was a huge grind (beating the game with all 4 people, bah). I don't have the game anymore, but as long as the DLC comes out before my PS+ runs out (releasing it along with the free PS+ ver would be lovely), I'll probably get it. While it was almost a great throwback to RCR, I found it significantly less fun, partially due to the wonky item mechanics where it's so easy to kill yourself with thrown items that fly at super speed along the ground (also present in RCR, but not nearly as punishing).

(I also really liked Castle Crashers, but Insane mode was sooo long and tedious... I think I gave up at getting 2 or 3 characters to 99 too)

after I beat the game with my first char in scott pilgrim I duped money for everyone else so I wouldn't have to grind again. its easy with 2 controllers you just give all your money and drop out, come back and you have the money again, iirc. and there is 1 shop that sells a reasonably priced item that boosts every stat.

If anyone wants to play MP for Scott Pilgrim when it comes out, pm me. Serious players, not ones that want to play like one level then quit for a week lol

Hmm, Scott Pilgrim for PS+, huh? Already have it on XBLA (I still need to play the Knives DLC since I got it on sale), but hey, free's free & I wouldn't mind replaying through it.

Ugh, I haven't bought a game in forever and still my backlog is more than I can handle. I think I'm not quite halfway through Outland, haven't even played Bloodrayne or Borderlands yet, and I've only played through like 2 levels of Ratchet and Clank with my buddy. And now Scott Pilgrim is coming. Yay PS+ :)

Have they given up on PS1 classics or something? I have been waiting for almost a year for Fear Effect to show up on there (its out in EU), but no dice. Surely that would sell better than some of the crappy PS2 classics they have been releasing...

Is there somewhere I can see a list what's been released for free on PS+ in the past?

The reason I ask is because I just started PS+ and there are a couple things I might consider purchasing, and it would help to know if it has already been a free release (they don't do them twice, right?).

It's local only.
Bleh, two more side scrollers for PS+ after getting two side scrollers last month.

Glad to see they are diversifying their line-up.
I'm not overwhelmed with their current offerings either. Still easily worth $50/year, but the last few months have kind of been duds in my opinion.

Awesome, thanks Tyler. Now I just wish I had gotten it last year :p

But you've helped my purchasing decisisons, so thank you again.
jiminy christmas, when you put it in a big list like that it's pretty crazy. even if each game cost a buck you'd still come out ahead.
But people like to judge the merits of PS+ on each month and only each month's offerings.

Ya, the "what have you done for me lately?" effect. I'm definitely guilty.

In case no one noticed, the scores for ZenPB2 are linked to your username, so you have only one high score whether you play PS3 or Vita or both.

Meaning, if you unlock the 2000 point trophy, the four game trophy and the team point trophy on one system, you just have to boot up and finish one game on the other system to get those trophies on both, if that matters to you.

PRO TIP...it seems that for now, you get much higher rank points for a lower high score on the original four pack since I guess people are not playing those as much right now? I satisfied my trophy requirements easily on the original four (Tesla, El Dorado, Shaman and V12)

Double Dragon is free from September through January so I don't think it'll be included in the offers this month. I think we could get something in addition to Scott Pilgrim still.

Either Zen Pinball 2 is not all that popular yet or the pro score is only slightly affected by the overall leaderboards. I'm not a pinball pro but I was getting pretty decent pro score on my tables (I got it just by playing the four original Marvel Pinball tables).

By the way, I also just got my PSN Play credit so check your inboxes.

I tried playing a couple of the pinball games we got for free so far with plus. I must REALLY blow hard at pinball or you guys are master pros. I couldnt get very far on any tables I tried. I guess I just suck and hate pinball...
