Wow that's awesome - finally some vita sales. I just bought stardust and mutant blobs last week and don't regret it at all. Both of them are must haves on a vita great fun.

Oh snap! Been waiting on a Escape Plan sale. Hopefully, they do the same sale in the US.

If we get the sale I will get Tales from Space: Mutant Blob Attack, Super Stardust Delta, & Escape Plan. Been waiting for some Vita sales. If we don't get the sale this week hopefully it comes soon.

We are due up for some kind of sale. Europe has also had Hot Shots for about $20 on PSN for weeks.

I'd definitely be all over a Vita sale like that, especially for Escape Plan with that $0.02 DLC.

I hope we get a nice Vita sale soon though. Its about time the PSN store gives Vita some love.

They corrected that ;)
Going to be $.25 instead.

Hot Shots is $20 at Wal-Mart right now.

Yep. It is the one vita game that I will double dip on to get it digitally if the price is right.

All this talk of new things going up made me get on to PSN and "buy" all the PS+ freebies. I know they will probably be around till early July but I didn't want to take any chances.

Then I set up my PS3 to do a backup to a USB hard drive. I have about 100GB on there - a big chunk of which is system data (which I assume doesn't get backed up). It says it will take nearly 4 hours to do the backup. WTF!?

As seen in the last paragraph of this ign.com article about Escape Plan:
"On Tuesday, June 12th, you’ll be able to download the game at a steep discount off of the PlayStation Network."
Might be in reference to the DLC sale, but they do say "game"... Hopefully Escape Plan's gonna be on super sale!

Really? Is it that good? I just got my Vita yesterday and am on the hunt for some great games.

It's just a very poorly-worded sentence on the writer's part, as the PS Blog post about it confirms that the game isn't on sale.
It backs up everything and you need to delete installs first or else the restore will fail.
Whaaa? I'm getting a new HD from Amazon Thursday so I'll be restoring to that. Are you saying I need to not have game installations as part of the HD before I back it up? That is confusing as hell if so - I don't know what is installed and what isn't.

I'm just shocked it takes 4 hours to back up less than 100GB. I say less because when I didn't have the HD completely cleared off, it told me it had 60GB free and needed 15GB more. So that's 75GB and the system info on the PS3 says it is using over 100GB. So I assume it doesn't need to back up the "system" portion of the HD (maybe some of that is used for cache or something?). But whether it is 75GB or 110GB 4 hours is a hell of a long time to do anything over a USB cable.

I'm pretty sure he just means the install bubbles. Make sure everything is downloaded AND installed, not just downloaded. Make sense?

Wonder how late this Store update Is going to be. Usually about 40 mins before the 'actual' update, you can find new releases by searching.
At the moment we can't do that.
Seems to me whenever there's a glut of Vita stuff, it's always a little behind.

That's one of the reasons that it can take that long and it would be a waste of your time if you didn't delete installs first.

All you have to do is go to the Game Data Utility folder and check the information (triangle > Information) for everything there. If there's a version number on there, that's just update data, which is okay to stay. Everything else is either an install or DLC, so you can delete it all to be safe and redownload the DLC that you had. If you know certain items are DLC, it's fine to leave it on there. Definitely leave LBP profiles on there.

That's common sense, but not what I'm talking about.
Go to the save and hit the triangle button. It'll give you options for the save there.
I'm saying once you've done that and say I install a new hard drive, can I download the saves from the cloud to my new HD?
I'm saying once you've done that and say I install a new hard drive, can I download the saves from the cloud to my new HD?
Yeah, push triangle and select the copy option to copy it back to the new hard drive.

every tuesday in this thread:

early AM:
damn I finally decided to buy "sale item X" and its not on sale anymore even though its still on the sale page, what gives?

early PM:
I can't wait for the update, "sale or game Y" is going to be awesome!

a random noob or three:
what time is the update going to be today guys?

mid PM:
what the hell why are they being so lazy where is my update?

during the update: if you search now you will be able to get everything 5 minutes before everyone else, hurry!

after update: I thought the rumor of "game z" coming out today was true, why isn't it there?

late PM:
after finally being injected with my weekly dosage of PSN I am calm once again, see you next week for a rinse and repeat!

It isn't common sense to me at all - why wouldn't a downloaded (and not yet installed) item just copy over as the same thing when restoring?
I have some install bubbles for some PSP stuff I downloaded when it was free (but I've never hooked up my PSP to my PS3 so I never did anything with it).

But it is specifically some DLC (like all the Borderlands stuff) that's I'd prefer to backup and restore rather than redownload given how slow PSN is.

This is my first time actually waiting to see the update so I look forward to this I guess?

So pretty much, never have expectations about when the store updates? It seems every time I check the thread (starting back with the pixeljunk sale), it's something different every week, lol.

He's talking about the downloads that are just waiting to be installed so you can actually play them. It should be common sense that it would be a good idea to install that stuff first before doing a back-up since you want the least amount of loose ends that can cause an issue. That has nothing to do with what I'm warning you about, so feel free to ignore what he was talking about.

I'm talking about installs, as in the data that, mostly, disc-based games install on your hard drive to help with loading and all that. If you know it's DLC, you don't need to touch it. The install data is all that needs to be deleted before doing your back-up or else you'll get an error when trying to restore it. Do you understand what I'm talking about?

wow, that is late, i'll stay up, even though we don't have much news..gonna buy Escape Plan though, and all the DLC, damn nice of them to set a cheap ass price!

I've upgraded 3 times 40gb to 160gb to 250gb to 500gb. I have never deleted anything before backing up, and I have never had an issue restoring. I always end up having to download the newest update from Sony's website to a flash drive, but that's it. Installs always transferred fine. Honestly, if they didn't I wouldn't have upgraded from 250gb the majority of data comes from installs for me.
Ha! A tweet? And that is exactly why I was hesitant to sign up for PS+. The "free" games are nice, but when your customer service is this horrendous, nothing else matters.
what customer service? PSN has never had an hour for the updates to go live, they said Tuesday and as far as i know Tuesday ends at 12:00 am, but of course when one needs an excuse to bitch about something anything would do

Scorpio blues are fine, my ps3 never gets hot unless hot air is coming into my house.
Never had any problems with it.

That's not my experience. My first restore to a new hard drive kept failing because of the installs, so I deleted them and the back-up/restore worked on the first try.

Like it really matters when they update the store each week. Half of you guys wait until the following Tuesday to buy anything and then complain that the update came too soon.
Ha! A tweet? And that is exactly why I was hesitant to sign up for PS+. The "free" games are nice, but when your customer service is this horrendous, nothing else matters.
Absolutely. Sony can give me every first party game ever including all future ones for free but it won't matter at all if their store updates a few hours to a day late sometimes.

I'm not "bitching". Sony's current protocol for updates is SLOPPY & UNPROFESSIONAL. No need to defend them with technicalities ("12am"). It's not me they need to worry about -- I'm loyal and continue dole out my dollars despite their shortcomings. But, if someone was faced with the choice of going with a PSN or other offerings, why would they put up with this? And the whole "free" argument doesn't come into play anymore since I'm now a plus member. I don't care WHEN they update, I just want consistency and communication. Guess I might as well check on Wednesdays from now on.

EDIT: Guess this is the wrong place to make these comments. Whatever. The proof is in the financial reporting. Sony's brand and profits continue to cascade and this is exactly why. Don't shoot the messenger.

Hahahah, yeah, this is such a pain to put up with. I don't know how anybody does it.

Listen E3 threw everything off wack...that may be a lame excuse but it is most likely the cause. Heck Epic waited until yesterday to change their Event Schedule that was supposed to roll out on Friday. 3 days late and nothing more than a short tweet about E3 and computer maintenance 2 days after the fact. E3 is a huge event for these guys and I am not surprised to see a little bit of slacking here and there the week after.

stop being so entitled. saying they are HORRENDOUS is pushing it, especially a week after they give you 12 games. they update EVERY week sometime on tuesday. what more do you want for consistency? the same hour every week? even though there are different games and different sized things to upload every week? not to mention they have to triple check prices so nothing gets put up erroneously so they don't lose their job. other offerings? besides steam I don't see anything that can compete with ps store.

I own one share of Planet kajiggers so I'm entitled to some answers. Question 1: Why does no one visit me in my home?

LOL! Yep, Sony's stock is downright plummeting because they're updating PSN store a few hours later than usual tonight. :applause:

That and those damn tweets!
