Bought Dead Space 2 and and am at Chapter 5. Not really all that scary but a solid fun game so far especially for only $3.75.

Protip: If you got a PS4 use your DualShock 4. This game lets you change the shooting to L2 & R2! It makes it imo WAY WAY better as I hate the PS3 controller for any game that requires precision.

I played the demo for Dead Space and found it pretty scary and definitely worth a buy. Is Dead Space 2 just continuing that, or does it jump out and get you all over again?

Actually, I haven't played Dead Space. I played Dead Space 3 and beat it. Why am I going backwards? It just kind of happen, lol.

The game isn't scary. Sure it has some jump scares where things pop out of vents and things suddenly come to life but those kind of scares don't really do it for me. The only horror I find scary it like psychological. I recently played through PT again (that free teaser on PS4) and man that game is terrifying.

As for Dark Space it really shines when you're face to face with a ton of enemies, in a dark area, with little ammo and have to figure out how to stay alive which also usually requires you to start running for you life. That's when it gets good and a little frightening. Well worth the sale price imo.

EDIT: But then again scary is pretty subjective. I have a buddy who can't play through Bioshock because it scares him when it's not even really a horror game. I don't judge though, lol

Each game gets less scary because it becomes more and more of a shooter. For me it went downhill each game but 2 was still solid.

Dead Space 2 is more of the same in some ways, but it's actually ramped up quite a bit with some pretty intense, over-the-top moments. Really great game. I might even call it my favorite new (i.e. non-HD-remake) survival horror game of the ps3 era. The series sort of lost the atmosphere/creepiness with Dead Space 3, though.

Worth noting Dead Space 2 made several publications Top 25 PS3 game lists! Same on the 360 side too.

Add me to the Dead Space 2 fan club. Dead Space 3 was the total opposite of survival horror. I hated that they went in a different direction so much that I never even got half way through he game. Will finish it one day but not anytime soon.

I did not play Dead Space, but loved Dead Space 2. It has some jump scares, but overall not a very scary game. It was definitely one of my favorites of last gen.

Is Dead Nation showing up as free for vita for anyone else? Strangely enough the regular version shows the sale price, but the vita version shows free for me

Are you sure you don't have another version of it? They made it cross-buy with the ps3 version. It shows up as free for me, but it's because I have the ps3 version from PS+ from a few years ago.

An excellent deal for Graces and Xillia (now I wish I had waited). I'll probably sell my physical copy of Graces if it's ever $5-7.50 on its own.

Since when does every sale have to be the 'best sale price' ever? How is anyone being a dick by not matching their best sale price ever? How is it a 'shitty move'? Why in the world do you think they're hoping 'people won't notice'?

If you liked the price last sale, you should have picked it up. There's no guarantee they'll ever have a sale on something again, let alone match the same price. If you don't pick something up during a sale, that's on you -- transferring the blame to sony/atlus (atlus, really, since Sony has no say) makes no sense to me.
I disagree.

I disagree.
I disagree with your disagreement. He has a pretty good point. It's absolutely a bummer that it's not the best sale price ever, but companies aren't obligated to always sell at the lowest ever price. By that logic, the moment a sale expires, you're being ripped off again -- how unfair that a game should ever not be on sale, amirite?

It's definitely shitty when a sale price isn't as low as it could be, but that doesn't mean it's a shitty move. It's just shitty for you.

It's shitty for them if they actually want to sell any copies this week. Why would anyone buy them at this price when they will inevitably be cheaper in two or three weeks again. We all know they will...it's Atlus.

On the Double Fine forums, they said yesterday that they're basically waiting on certification from the console manufacturers, and the release date is out of their hands. Sounding like the promised pre-Halloween release is pretty iffy at this point.
Thanks for the info, that's a big time bummer.

Take a drink every time this question pops up. Your liver will be gone before the end of the year.

I wouldn't rely on that. It used to be that Sega sales came and went like clockwork but there hasn't been one in a long time, not since they bought Atlus. Now the Atlus catalog is frequently on sale but do you think it always will be? It'll stop sometime. We've already had numerous chances to grab those games for $5 - at this point, everyone who wants them has them. After the most recent titles like Nocturne hit $5, I wouldn't be surprised if the sales disappeared completely.

Follow-up to SARPBC announced:
Psyonix, the respected independent developer responsible for Square Enix’s upcoming hit Nosgoth, unveiled its plans to launch the fast-paced action-sports game Rocket League in spring 2015. The sequel to the international hit Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League expands on its successful pedigree with improved graphics and physics systems, a robust new single-player campaign, considerable customization options, and a fully-charged multiplayer game geared for a next-generation action-sports experience.

Watch the new Rocket League video HERE:

Rocket League Key Features Include:

New Season Mode: Players now can enjoy a full single-player experience with Season mode, bolstered by extensive vehicle customizations, unlockable items, multiple arenas, and more.

Fully Upgraded Online, Local and Splitscreen Multiplayer Modes: Fans of the original will love the returning options for two- to four-player competition, from on-the-couch split-screen competition to the robust online play.

Team-focused Gameplay: Rocket League’s team-oriented play compels gamers to learn short- and long-term tactics and strategies to stay in the game, challenge their friends, and stay atop the monthly leaderboards.

Physics-driven Vehicle Interactions: Built with rocket-equipped vehicles capable of aerial attacks, passes and shots, and physics-driven ball action, Rocket League is a wild, visceral action-sports experience.

Content Overload: Rocket League builds upon its predecessor with a healthy array of completely new unlockable vehicles, arenas, more than 100 customization items, and other surprises.

Dedicated Gameplay Servers: Super-smooth online gameplay guarantees an even better Rocket-Powered Battle-Car experience.

Broadcast-Quality Replays: Gamers can play with, stylize, and create the ultimate replay of entire games with the new replay system. Fast forward, rewind, or view the action from anywhere in the arena!

“We are excited to let the world know that Rocket League is coming in 2015 with a new set of next-generation upgrades, features and physics systems,” said Dave Hagewood, President, Psyonix. “We believe its unique mix of stunning physics, crazy aerial action, and compelling multiplayer combat will drive our current fan base – and a whole new generation of players – absolutely wild.”

Like the 2008 PlayStation®3 original, Rocket League is a futuristic action-sports game where players pilot rocket-powered vehicles in an enhanced version of soccer by driving their vehicles into the ball and other players in a variety of arenas. Rocket League uses an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions between cars and the ball, where mass and momentum determine how hard balls and cars hit each other, creating a unique and visceral playing experience.

Created by Psyonix, Rocket League is a one- to eight-player action-sports game due in spring 2015. To learn more about Rocket League, please visit www.rocketleaguegame.com, ‘Like’ it on Facebook, and follow its development on Twitter @RocketLeague for all the latest developer updates and news.

I played and really enjoyed all 3 of the Dead Space games. I still don't get the huge aversion people have to the third one. I didn't find it that much different mechanically then the other two.

Forgive my PS-noob question, but is there a site where I can see a price history for PSN games similar to xbldb for Xbox?  Thanks!

Starting tomorrow, season passes will be available for TV shows on the PSN store. They're going to have a sale for Walking Dead - seasons start at $5.59 at SD video quality.

Yes, you can play with the thumbsticks. I don't even remember if you can play with the touchscreen. I know you can use it to stretch or skew the ball. As for how the game is, it's Katamari. If you liked it before, you'll probably enjoy it, but remember that the series started on PS2 and gaming has come a long way since then. If the game came out today, it woukd probably be on mobile devices.

Yeah, the mechanics are there. A lot of people disliked it because of how you could buy "parts" to upgrade your guy with real money.
Of course, optional. I beat the game easily without doing so but that kind of thing rubs people the wrong way.

Why I didn't enjoy it is because of the locales. I was trudging through snow, big wide open areas, meanwhile in Dead Space 2 (albeit only at Chapter 5 right now) seems to keep you in more enclosed dark spaces which makes it more frantic and in return imo more fun.

Dead Space 3 became really good around Chapter 11-12. I loved how they pretty much dumped you into the Mountains Of Madness and turned the Moon into a Lovecraftian Old God. If you're into that kind of stuff it was really fascinating to me.

Me memory is terrible but I actually do recall that par after hearing you explain it. I still didn't enjoy the game but I do recall the last chapters or so becoming pretty twisted and weird. Definitely the best part of three.

I hated those climbing areas in three so much though!

dead space > dead space 2 >>> dead space 3

dead space 3 was awful. I did not have fun while playing it. I loved dead space 1 though, one of my favorite tps games.

It had similar mechanics, but it had the shootouts with human adversaries and open snowy areas where you were killing waves of enemies coming at you head on...which is a lot different from sneaking around claustrophobic areas, running low on health and wondering if something is going to jump you from behind.

I still enjoyed it...and liked some of the story twists...and think I even played the DLC...but, in my opinion, it was sort of similar to the way Resident Evil went downhill around RE5 when they started trying to mimic cover-based shooters.

It's shitty for them if they actually want to sell any copies this week. Why would anyone buy them at this price when they will inevitably be cheaper in two or three weeks again. We all know they will...it's Atlus.
Because not everyone pays attention or cares about sales. Most people just go into stores and buy what they want/need, if it's on sale, bonus! You do know some people buy Atlus games on non-sale weeks, right? For them, it's not worth paying attention to sales and they spend their time reading knitting forums or whatever. To know a game goes on constant sale and actually give a fuck that one week the sale isn't quite as good requires a level of store knowledge that 99% of consumers don't have.

I got all the atlus games like Yggdra and the other usual suspects a year or two ago when they hit $2.50. I almost waited, because well, of course they'd do it again, right? Nope. They've never been that low since. That doesn't mean they're ripping people off when it goes on sale for $5 regularly.

Heck, bitching about some of these games at any price <$10 blows my mind. Most of them are fantastic and worth $20+.

Warning for those with datacaps.  I was under the assumption that if you had a PS4 retail game installed on the system and purchased the digital version of the game, then you would not need to re-download it.  So I bought Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare thinking it would just unlock.  It did not, the retail and digital copies of the game are different.  Sony was really good about giving me a refund, but those of use with low data caps keep this in mind when trying to convert from retail to digital.

Interesting. With the addition of the USB Music player does this mean I can plug in an external drive and play my music during any game? Or does it work like the PS3 requiring individual games to support/deny playback?

The PS4's OS has had support for playing music during any game since launch, but it was limited to Music Unlimited. This adds music on an external HDD or thumb drive as a new option.

I haven't been paying close attention to the feature list so this is great news to me and a definite game changer. It's going to make holding off on getting a PS4 until I reduce my backlog much more difficult. Black Friday will test my resolve like never before.

About $40 to go... I don't think I'll quite make it to the $15 bonus.  Damn.

In other news, I downloaded the PlayStation Mobile SDK last night and started porting my Android game to it.  Surprisingly, it took a very short amount of time (maybe 5 hours) to get it mostly playable, which required translating it from Java to C#, then updating the graphics & input code.

Still a lot of things to fix, but man.. it's an incredible feeling to see a game you wrote running on an unmodified Sony console.

Ah that may be it.. stangely enough though the ps3 version shows the $3 price. I got it for free a whiel back when they were giving free games for the whole hack bullcrap. If i go to the game page it lists the price, but if i go to download history i can d.load it again. Very weird. I guess i'll try to get the vita version since it shows 'free' and see if it works

I'd bet that they added a new PS3 version that was Cross Buy with the new Vita version, but still gave previous owners credit to get the Vita version for free anyway.

Whoa, Geometry Wars 3 is coming to PS3/PS4?!  I might get this for PS3.  One of the reasons I bought a 360 was for Geometry Wars 2.

Got booted out, while shopping on the PSN.  Gave me a message the system is under maintenance.

Might try again later or this is maybe a sign that I shouldn't buy Tales of Grace/Xillia for $15 digital. I have both regular editions on  disc in my backlog, was thinking about trading them into Gamestop.

Hopefully they add folders so we can hide those unwanted non-deletable apps cluttering the home screen.

Would be nice to have a little organization features instead of a giant mess every time I boot up the system.
