Bit on Lego Marvel for PS4, tempted by Injustice as well... Does your progress from PS3 carry over to PS4? I'm pretty much just working on the star labs stuff.

I mean if the PS4 is your first system those announcements may be interesting but I just do not see much to get excited about if you own a PS3.

Apparently Sony spilled the beans on announcements for Gamescom, which includes some interesting titles:

PlayStation 4
Journey
Nom Nom Galaxy
Surgeon Simulator
The Unfinished Swan
Until Dawn

Nom Nom Galaxy is the new PixelJunk game, formerly called PixelJunk Inc, that is a Steam Early Access game. Until Dawn was a PS3 horror game that was exclusive to Move that they announced two years ago.
Frisky, which of those games is the interesting one?

Nom Nom Galaxy, Surgeon Simulator, and Until Dawn are not on PS3. Two of those are on PC and the third has been in limbo since it's original announcement.

Journey and Unfinished Swan are great games that deserve a replay to see how much better they look.

I am just jaded right now on all the cross gen titles.

Ok, that's funny. But still, I am goddamned stoked for a remastered Journey. Did you see how the PS4 version of Flower turned out?! I known it's not a traditional "game" but that is gorgeous. Hopefully Journey is cross-buy as well.

Not interested in Unfinished Swan. Gave me terrible motion sickness.

Mildly interested in Surgeon Similator. Trauma Center/Team is a great (albeit hard as hell) series. I'll only play if it's move-compatible, though.

Well, Mr. Snarky Pants, these are games that aren't on PS4 and will be announced for it, which is good to see. As for games I find interesting, I'd have to say that Nom Nom Galaxy would be a great fit for PS4 since it's a good mix of Terraria with a weird sort of tycoon twist to it as you collect ingredients to make various soup to build a soup empire. Surgeon Simulator is crazy in an Octodad sort of way in terms of controls. Until Dawn disappeared for two years and makes a reappearance on PS4, which is good to see if the devs made the best of that extra time. Journey and Unfinished Swan are great games that more people need to play. Any more questions?

Surgeon Simulator on a controller sounds like it would completely miss the point.
In what way? Octodad had a similar focus on making what would be simple tasks way more complicated to control in a hilarious way.

Something like this could work:

Arm = Left Analog Stick

Rotate Left/Right = L2/R2

Fingers = Face Buttons plus R1

Surgeon Simulator isn't really anything like Trauma Center. It's far less about the actual act of performing a surgery, and more the ridiculous act of wrestling with its controls to do what you want (and the insanity the ensues as a result), which is why I think it would be completely pointless to play on a controller; the experience would be completely different and likely pretty bland once you took away the awkward control scheme.

How exactly do you plan to hold all the face buttons down at once (plus the bumper) in order to grab anything? I'm not saying it couldn't work, but it sounds like something that will turn out either unplayable or too convoluted to be fun. The PC controls are awkward, but are at least easy to wrap your head around, which I'm not sure if something that could be easily replicated on a controller.

We shall see I guess.

Push your palm down on the right side of the controller, then use your index finger on R1. It's not that hard since the bulk of the action is from moving/twisting the arm. You'd have one hand dedicated to the fingers and the other on the arm.

assuming unfinished swan launches free with ps plus like the other rem4kes i will try it
Yeah, it's been confirmed as cross-buy. It'll be on vita as well.

Welp my interest just plummeted to zero. Not into the whole goofy controls thing and it's why I've avoided Octodad. Oh well.

Gamescom is pretty much always a disappointment for me, but that list might be a new low if true. I'm sorry, but ports of last gen games do not warrant stage time at a big conference like that. It would be more appropriate as a post on the PS blog (and I'd only click on it to see if it was free cross buy). As for iPhone ports and Move vaporware, that doesn't do a whole lot more for me. I will say I don't know what that Nom Nom game is so I won't pass judgement on it (sounds good the way you described it).

I think that list is more about playable titles and not everything that will be at the press conference.

I don't think any of the games I mentioned were iPhone games.

Amen on that Journey nod. I hope people previously bored with it give it another try. Hopefully the spruced up performance and visuals help. Really is brilliant shit.

In regards to 'Nom Nom', you had me at Terraria. Plus that's the sound some buddies and I would make when talking about cunnilingus. We've matured now, of course.

I think you're being a little too generous with Unfinished Swan. But again I'm bitter over an entire night spent on the verge of vomitting (even hours after I stopped playing).

Hope journey will be cross buy since I bought it on ps3 and never got around to it.

Also, there will be surprise announcements... so there's still something to look forward to.

I don't mind all the 'cross-gen' stuff and upports; it's nice filler during the inevitable first year aaa lulls.

Is this like your whole "This game put me to sleep while I was lying in bed late at night" thing?

Oh cool, I get to pay $15 for Surgeon SIm- another qwop gimmick game that will only last me 5 mins, just like Octodad, nice!

I'd imagine that Journey and Unfinished Swan will be Cross Buy like Escape Plan, flOw, Flower, and Sound Shapes.

I must have overlooked it the first time I scanned that list on GAF, but damn that Nom Nom Galaxy mention is awesome.  I was super jealous when they announced that as a PC game so it coming to PS4 would be awesome.

Lol indie hate and NinjaSquirrel stan-ing for PC over consoles.  Same ole PSN thread...

Yes, I can't wait to see how much better the blank white screen of Unfinished Swan looks.

For the record, I was surprised at enjoying Unfinished Swan. Its sum was greater than its parts. There was a satisfaction to completing it.

Are you suggesting I could have prevented the motion sickness?

I did a video for Nom Nom Galaxy if you want to see what it is:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/blog/27/entry-24302-checking-in-with-nom-nom-galaxy/
Appreciate this. Watched in its entirety. Like what I see. The buzz saw looks so satisfying to use. Dat oxygen meter doe...why oh why. At least it doesn't look too troublesome.

-I don't recall an explanation as to why you made soup. I even rewatched the first few minutes thinking I missed it. So, yeah, why the fuck were you making soup?

-Pixel Junk...Pixel Junk...I know these are always solid games but they sometimes sway to the difficult side. Soon as I saw that logo I kind of recoiled. Eden and Monsters left me feeling some kind of way and ain't no-body got time! So is this of similar ilk?

It's more that you blame games for personal issues, like playing non-action games when tired.

I think the point is that you want to be the biggest soup company in the galaxy. This is on the Steam page:

"Welcome to Soup Co., Astroworker! As an integral part of the Soup Co. family, your mission is to explore the remote planets in search of tasty ingredients to make the galaxies most delicious soups and then rocket them into the gullets of our hungry customers. But this isn't your typical soup kitchen - Astroworkers must battle against the planet's elements, alien plants and animals, and dastardly rival soup corporations! Build your base of operations with the help of your fellow Astroworkers and handy Soup Co. robots, make the galaxies most mouth-watering soups, then defend yourself from local wildlife and our rivals."

I haven't played enough to know how difficult it'll get, but I'd imagine that it gets more difficult to expand the operation and find the ingredients to make better soup while defending against enemy attacks.

I had the same problem with Unfinished Swan. I thought it was interesting but something about the game gave me motion sickness and forced me to stop playing it. It's too bad, I really liked what I played of the demo.

I'm NOT wading into the steam thread so I thought I'd ask here, anyone recommend Broken Age? It's on sale for $12.50 and I've been looking at it for a while.

I wasn't saying that the game couldn't cause issues with people that are susceptible to those sorts of thing, just that breakfuss tends to blame the game for issues that are his own. He called Child of Light a boring game that put him to sleep, then later mentioned that he was playing it late at night while lying in bed. The game may not help, but he might as well have been tucked in with his PJ's and a warm glass of milk for as much as it would help him stay up.

It's the weirdest thing. I've played video games all my life and never got motion sick from one until Unfinished Swan. Oddly enough it never happened when I was controlling it, but when my girlfriend played through (I think) the fourth chapter I was watching for about ten minutes and then couldn't look at the screen without feeling violently ill.

I can confirm that if you pre-order Hohokum, you get immediate access to the Hohokum editor pack for Sound Shapes immediately.

You also get the PS3 themes even if you pre-order on PS4.
