On the page it lists (PS Vita, PS3) after the title? I'd be surprised if they gave both, but the listing makes it seem that way. I already have it for PS3 either way, but I can only imagine the complaints.
Entitled gamers I guess would be the complainers..ha

5 4 vita games! Best PS+ month ever!

Edit: thought Road not taken was cross buy as well. Not so far, but it might be in the future.

PS+ NA August Lineup includes
PS4: Road Not Taken, Fez
PS3: Crysis 3, Proteus
Vita: Metrico, Dragon's Crown
I'm glad Metrico is free since it's sale probably would have been pretty poor otherwise. I don't know much about it, but a game based on numbers and charts isn't going to get most people very interested. I'm looking forward to it.

Aw dangit, I bought Crysis 3 when it was $5 and still haven't played it. Proteus is that 8-bit nature game, right? It would've been nice if it had realistic graphics. Now what am I going to do with my PS3 copy of Dragon's Crown? I don't want to own both.

If I'm not especially good at FPS games, and I'm more of a fan of fantasy/sci fi than realistic combat, which recent PS Plus game should I start with: Metro Last Light, Bioshock Infinite, or Crysis 3?

Pure awesomeness. So happy with this.

Road Not Taken looks fantastic, Fez is cross buy and I've heard wonderful things about it, Proteus is something I wanted to try but would never buy, Dragon's Crown is beloved but I'm not sure I'd like it, Metrico looks cool.

The only one I don't care too much about is Crysis 3 -- while normally it's the kind of game I'd like I hated the buggy mess of Crysis 2 and don't play my ps3 much anyway.

But overall? I'm used to months where I own half or more of the games. So nice to not own any but still want most.

Wow that is going to be one disappointing month for PS3 games. I never liked the Crysis games and that Proteus game looks pretty stupid. I wish I had a Vita at least that got one good game.

It was confirmed in the comments by one of the employees at Sony that the PS3 version of Dragon Crown is free too even through it not a normal Cross Buy release.

Meh. Nothing really interest me this month. i played the other crysis games and thought they were just ok at best. Played the demo for Fez but wasn't too impressed. Don't know anything about the other indie games but none of them really capture my attention. Was hoping for far cry 3, max payne 3 or red dead and maybe an actual non indie ps4 game.

Oh well. can't really complain since they're free. Just not thrilled with this month. Hope we get some really cheap sales soon.

Seems strange that they are giving out both versions of Dragon's Crown when it isn't cross buy, but it's hard to complain.

Looking forward to trying the Vita version, although things got pretty hectic on a big screen, so that might be rough.

I have both versions and I preferred the Vita version simply because of the touch pad for treasure. Using the analog stick to poke around for treasure was not as streamlined as tapping on the screen of the vita. Gameplay wise, everything was the same, with the exception of some slowdown during very busy sequences. Overall though, it doesnt detract from the experience IMHO.

Infinite. It's a mediocre FPS in a great alternate timeline environment and throws super powers I to the gameplay mix. Crysis is low sci fi, Metro is a "grounded" post-apocalypse setting. They've got a more mainline military shooter vibe than Infinite.

There were definitely some things in the PS3 version that felt like they would be more at home on the Vita, such as treasure and the rune stuff. I can live with a little slowdown as long as the rest of the experience works well, so that sounds pretty good to me. Thanks for the input.

Pretty happy to have PS Plus now! Heck, I'm even thinking of extended the service by three months.

Is Fez the kind of game you could burn through within a month, even if you're not a very dedicated gamer? I get so easily distracted...

You can breeze through Fez in one sitting if you don't go for the "True" ending which requires two playthroughs and a pretty good understand of the games lore. For example some puzzles require you to decipher the Fez alphabet and hidden input codes.

It shouldn't take you that long. It's only about 5-6h if you're just going through it, and about twice that to 100%.

It's a brilliant game, so don't let people *cough* Tyler *cough* turn you away from it.

It's worth doing if you have the patience (though I'd advise a guide to get you started, or you'll go insane).

Do you have a ps4? If so, you might want to wait on Metro Last Light and eventually just pick up Metro Redux, which is both Metro games redone for ps4. It's what I'm doing, at least, because I'm very interested in the franchise.

I don't know if Bioshock Infinite benefits from playing the first two? Probably?

So I guess Crysis 3 since there isn't much 'lore' in that universe compared to Bioshock so I don't think you'd be missing anything.

I think all 3 are pretty sci-fi in combat? I know bioshock and crysis are. In both, you basically add sci-fi enhancements to yourself as the game goes on.

You mean 3 years, right?

Damn I bought Dragons Crown for $17 and I never played it. At least I get the ps3 version also.

But not impressed with this months lineup.

I'm surprised to see two new games on the list, which makes the glut of games coming to PSN that week much more bearable now. I'm also surprised to see that we get both versions of Dragon's Crown considering that they're not Cross Buy, though this is the first title we've seen in a long time breaking the "no sales with a couple of months before going to PS+" rule.

Yeah it technically on sale RIGHT NOW. Then again that just the generic discount it gets every few weeks.

It's still a sale. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned it since people tend to not like when a sale has happened three months earlier, let alone the week prior.

I bought Crysis 3 for PS3 for $5 many months back.  After I bought it, I thought I would play Crysis 2 on PC, which I picked up.  I have been trying to finish Crysis 2  for many months since then, but it is just so boring...

Rev3 did a pretty thorough demo of Road not Taken:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaYGIN1NFkc

Starts at the 10 min mark.

It's made by the same people that made a facebook puzzle game called Triple Town which was incredibly addictive.  Really looking forward to this one.

I've got most of these PS+ games already, but you can't win every month. Road Not Taken might be cute at the very least.

I actually got Dragon's Crown when I got my VIta last year, but haven't had time for it. When I saw it was in Europe's PS+ a short while back I knew it would come here eventually but still never got around to it. Oh well. Maybe now I'll actually play it, and if we really do get the PS3 version too that will be a nice bonus.

So is Crysis 3 better than Crysis 2? I tried to play Crysis 2 and got bored and never finished it.
I hated Crysis 2. I'm not sure exactly why either. The change in direction from Crysis 1 didn't bother me, and I thought the basic gunplay was pretty good (reminded me of FEAR), but something about it just annoyed the hell out of me. The mission design or plot or something alternated between making me sleepy and making me irrationally angry.

I thought Crysis 3 was much better, but then something about the gunplay and suit powers felt off to me, and again, I'm not sure exactly what about it bothered me. The balance didn't feel right. Even with stealth, there was a lot of mobility in previous games. I sort of felt like the best way to play Crysis 3 was to stand still. It was weird.

It's like each game had opposite problems, but I did prefer Crysis 3 more overall.

OMFG.... I can't believe WB's fucking bullshit..... even on the "Ultimate" edition skins are still locked behind their shitty P2W ios game!!!  fuck, if I had known they were pulling this shit I'd have stuck with the vanilla version..... or not have bought the fucking game at all.  god fucking damnett.

Anybody willing to share a WBID I can use to unlock everything?  I can give you some CN codes or a cheap Steam/Desura game for your trouble.

Triple Town was a great game; I never paid for any iap so I had limited time with it, but I definitely enjoyed it. You place pieces on a grid map and whenever you create triplets it 'evolves' that piece. There are some enemy units and other obstacles/powerups, but ultimately you're fighting against the need for space to drop pieces (thus, creating triplets to reduce your three spots taken up to one spot with an evolved unit is key, and then do that twice more and join up the evolved unit, etc).

The currently popular 'Threes' is ultimately just a simplified version of it all, just with raw numbers instead of cutesy units.

Road Not Taken looks like they're evolving the entire idea into even more of a solid game, so I'm excited for it. It'll be perfect for vita when that version eventually releases.

At first glance Road Not Taken didn't look that great, but after seeing a bit of gameplay it kind of reminded me of the strategy board mini-game in Fear Effect: Retro Helix. Now I'm interested in the game.

I don't have a Vita, but the PS+ library I'm building for it is making a great case for me to buy a Playstation TV.

fuck Fez.

Amazing lineup this month though. I didn't think they could top July's for me but they did. I love PS+ so much.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/07/30/playstation-now-open-beta-our-journey-begins/

The PS Now beta for PS4 begins tomorrow with more than 100 games available to rent for four hour, seven day, 30 day, and 90 day rental periods:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCyAT9PBgEc

With a strong and stable broadband connection, visual and gameplay quality will be much like what you’re used to with other PS3 games. PS Now will also feature cloud game saves, as well as support for other popular network features such as Trophies, friend lists and leaderboards. You can also play seamlessly online with other people on PS Now, or even players who have the downloadable or disc based version of the game. As you know, the PS3 catalog of games is massive and incredibly diverse, and we’re thrilled to make these epic experiences available to PS4 first, followed by our other PlayStation platforms in the coming months.

You will immediately see a clear breakdown of what’s included with game rentals, so it’s easier to tell what content you’re getting with your rental, especially since several games offered through PS Now include DLC that increase the value of the offering. Also, in a few weeks, you will start seeing reduced pricing on some 4-hour rentals which will appear at $1.99.

I bought Dragon's Crown :vita: when it was $20 at GS last month and poured 20+ hours into it. Wasted a few hours on a Warrior before switching to the elf Archer which I found a lot more fun.

My one complaint was that the framerate got pretty bad and the screen got overly crowded when playing with 3 other characters. I ended up treating it as a solo game and beat the game on Beginner with no companions. Online play on the Vita was pretty spotty also and I had trouble finding a game reliably.

I still liked it a lot and had been wanting to grab a cheap :ps3: copy to see how much better multiplayer was on the PS3 vs. Vita so this is one time that I'm not even mad that a game I just bought is going free on PS+. At least I'll get to try the PS3 version now.
