Bought Tales of Graces F, so now I can trade/sell my sealed copy that I paid $49 for on release. That is so backward for me, and it seems I have given in to the digital revolution. One main issue I had was pricing. Since I'm not paying physical copy retail price, it's all good (anything to rationalize my behavior, and reconcile it with my strong feelings about game ownership, I guess 🙈 ).

If you didn't buy Tales of Graces F on release we probably wouldn't have Tales of Hearts, or xillia 1 and 2 or Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Don't forget that Bandai Namco was going to possibly not bring over any Tales games, so they gauged interest on that one. Also Tales of Graces F took a very long time to get this low, so it's not bad. Now ToS Chronicles, Xillia and possibly Xillia 2...I expect the last one to drop heavily in price over a few months (likely by Black Friday).

I bought Graces, Xillia and Chronicles at release. I haven't put more than 10 hours into the lot of em combined yet. :(

I am definitely waiting for Xillia 2 to drop, because I can afford to do so.

Same also doesn't help I haven't played Xillia 1 a bit. I will rarely play a sequel before playing the original unless they're not connected at all. Well I did play Graces F about 40-50 hours....still not that close to being done with it haha.

I put about 20 hours into Graces, and I'm quickly approaching the end of Symphonia 1, but I've not put that much time into Xillia, yet.

More often than not. My computer is currently at 25 Mbps over a weak Wi-fi connection while my PS4's speed test reads at 7 Mbps. Both are in the same room. Most suggest that using a physical network connection will help boost the speed a bit.

Normally I get 1-2mb/s, right now I'm getting 100kb/s.

I've usually been using OpenDNS, but I've seen other report success by changing over to Google's servers as per your suggestion. Unfortunately after just testing it now it I'm still seeing the same speed. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I really shouldn't be relying on using a wireless connection for gaming. Hoping you find better luck, filmthedead.

Nope, I gave up in disgust. I have a first model PS3, and it's old and tired. I don't want to leave it on to download a game if the game is going to take that long.

 
Not that anyone cares, but I forgot about the number one reason to buy the pro upgrade for the Pinball Arcade season bundle; it's the only way to turn off family mode to get all of the dialogue for Scared Stiff. :)

If that matters to you at all, you might as well get the pro mode bundle and get all the other pro mode tables for free.
 
There isn't a way to look around the tables that don't have a pro-version in Pinball Arcade, is there? I'd love to read/know what all the lights on Theater of Magic playfield represent.

You get access to a few other options & features. For example, if you want you can directly control how the ball moves with the analog stick or manually move the camera around the playfield to get a better view of how everything is set up. There's also "pro tips" that tell you how to quickly rack up your score. Not all of the tables offer a pro version.

 
Singing Monsters -- f2p (no iap required, though there is tons of it)

So... I don't know why I started this game, nor why I didn't just delete it.  Hours later, I'm thoroughly addicted.

Let's get the big huge stinking negative out of the way: this is pure a pure forced time delay management game.   Everything is on a timer.  Everything.    Breed a monster takes time.  Hatching the egg takes time.  Then it generates money over time.  Then you buy food, which takes time to make.  then you feed your monsters to level them up.  Rinse repeat.

Now for the good -- each monster contributes to an overall 'song'.  And... it's actually pretty good.   I don't know how i'm not sick of it yet, but i actually look forward to adding in each monster to see how it affects the song.   It's cute and addictive.

IAP isn't necessary.  You can breed any monster for free if you don't mind taking your chances.   

Anyway, if you can look past the atrocious f2p/iap design, it ends up being a fun little economy puzzle.   if you want something to check in on a couple times a day, this is it.  once you have a halfway decent econ going it doesn't feel nearly as demanding, which is nice.

otherwise, skip.

The pro tips are nothing special. They're accessed via the table menu & are just text bubbles & arrows that point out specific areas of interest on the playfield. It's hardly anything you couldn't figure out on your own after playing the table for a while.

Defense Grid 2 will be out on September 23rd, from the latest Backer update:

As you may know Defense Grid 2 now has a street date and that date is Tuesday September 23rd. Looking at the calendar, that’s just one short month away from today. That game is not yet “done,” but it is very close. This week we’ll be submitting our builds to Sony and Xbox One with the goal of passing their certification processes and being ready for download on the ship date.

It is always possible that we’ll have updates for those builds as well, but right now, we’re going into the certification process with the expectation that those updates won‘t be needed early.

Oh, I think those pro tips were already in the Williams and Gottlieb collections for Wii. I kind of want to get the season pass but half the tables are already in those two collections. Do you know if there are any improvements from the Wii version other than graphics? How regular are the online tournaments?

I haven't played any of the pinball games on the Wii so I can't offer any comparisons. Based on my brief time with the PS3 version it seems like the PS4 primarily just offers a boost in resolution.

When you click on the tournament button a window just pops up saying something to the effect of "We'll hold our first online tournament after we eventually release some more DLC tables."

Couldn't you use delete stuff you're not using at the moment then redownload again some other time. That's what I'm thinking about doing..

There's a tournament going on now on PS3 and Vita if you don't mind playing there. It's for mostly the DLC tables and the only free table you can compete in is Black Hole.
 
Does Dragon's Crown take a while to warm up?  I'm an hour or two in, and I thought I'd love the game, but so far it seems a little slow/repetitive and button-mashy.  I chose a Fighter, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I can't get on either. It stopped working for me during the past hour or so. I was watching X-Files on Netflix, left the house, came home, and my daughter noticed it wasn't logging on correctly when she tried to play SSX.

Yes, it gets better. And, yes, pick a different class. I didn't notice a spike in difficulty until around the time I fought the Gazer boss.

Which class are you using Josh? Dragon's Crown, surprisingly, is one of my favorite games so far this year, and I just started playing it a week ago. Some of the classes are more difficult to start out with. Try the Fighter. He's the easiest to play with, and you can still use powerful spells with magic scrolls equipped.

As you level up, you'll get better armors and weapons, and you'll have access to more powerful, higher level allies when you resurrect them. It's a fantastic co-op games as well if you have someone to play with. I've been soloing it, though, and it's still one of favorite games.
